00:06According to the Department of Foreign Affairs,
00:08the Arbitral Award confirms the commitment of the Philippines to follow the rule of law
00:13and to resolve the issues in the South China Sea despite the incidents of harassment.
00:19The Arbitral Award also strengthens the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea or UNCLOS
00:24and gives protection to the rights of the Philippines and Filipinos.
00:29U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken also called for China to follow the Arbitral Ruling
00:34and to stop the dangerous activities in the South China Sea.
00:39Blinken also stated that based on the Arbitral Ruling,
00:42there is no basis for China's involvement in the areas
00:45that are included in the Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf of the Philippines.
