00:00Jess you're on one yeah okay Australian record fifth fastest woman in history
00:06that wasn't enough now I go take a world record just record
00:12older yeah it's insane like I don't really know what to say of the last few
00:17days it's just been crazy and I think it's like in a way I was really happy I
00:21had this because I could just regroup and come up and focus on this but now I
00:26don't really know what to think and I'm gonna have to take the next few days to
00:30take it all in yeah if you imagine and obviously the Olympics is coming up so
00:34that might be a dream week but if you imagine your dream week of racing and
00:37things to happen yeah put this just be about it I think yeah it would be like I
00:42mean I could never have imagined Sunday coming together like it did I mean now
00:46with reflection I can I can see that the work was there and I pulled it out and I
00:51mean in a way I'm lucky because a lot of athletes get really fit and never quite
00:55get that race and I got that on Sunday so to then kind of come here and I mean
01:01when we knew this was a 2k we assumed that they PPA gone or beautiful guy had
01:05asked for it and intended to do something pretty crazy and then the
01:09heat sheet came out before Paris did and I was like okay like I should be
01:14thinking about trying to win that race and then you start to hear like oh they
01:18want to set it up for a world record and they've got really good rabbits and it's
01:21like well so if I want to win that race I have to break the world record and
01:24yeah it's it's a crazy thing to think about but then I was also like you know
01:29it's the Monaco Diamond League it's not easy to win like you have to run fast to
01:32win and I mean lately you have to run world records to win races so this was
01:37no exception and I think this was the week I needed in a way like I needed to
01:41learn how to manage these expectations and I needed to learn how to bounce back
01:45from a big race like that and regroup and refocus and and embrace being the
01:50one with a bit of pressure on her like it was different embrace being one of
01:53the best athletes in the world right now I've got to know obviously you just
01:56said it's new for you yeah like going after world records and doing what you
02:00did in Paris so have you had to change anything in the way that you approach
02:04the races both mentally and physically or do you keep it the same sort of yeah I
02:09think it's different like I was sort of trying to think about this on Monday
02:12because you get here and the excitement and like talking to Remy who sets these
02:17races up and they want to see world records and part of me was like oh I
02:21can't even think of trying to run fast again I just need to rest I need to get
02:25some sleep but um then you sort of get amongst it and you're like this is like
02:29what I've always dreamed of and now it's time to embrace being that person and I
02:33kind of was trying to put it put some words to it and I was like you know just
02:37for you like that's what's gotten me here that's what's gotten me to this
02:40point and it's just being Jess and just doing it with a smile on my face and
02:44enjoying it and loving it like I love this sport to death and I like was
02:48trying to build this moment up in my head and like what like how to kind of
02:52keep myself composed out there and normally when I'm racing I have like
02:55these words that I think of and it's usually very like process oriented and
02:59tonight I was just like the thing that kept me calm was thinking of like doing
03:03it for like the little Jessica that used to watch these races at home in the
03:07lounge room in the middle of the night with my dad like Ryan Gregson in 2010
03:10breaking the Australian record here and I was like that little girl would just
03:14be ecstatic that you're the one out there chasing a world record tonight so
03:17when it was getting harder I was like just do it for her, do it for her
