ONE WEEK after he was born, Jet caught a staph infection as a result of a contaminated intravenous line - as a result, his growth plates in his left leg were affected and his leg "stopped growing." As a child, Jet went through 13 surgeries to try to maintain the mobility on his left side - with metal pins and screws fixing his hip in place. When he later went for an X-ray, it was found that all the screws and pins in his hip were "disconnected and broken in half" and are now floating around in his leg. This causes Jet constant pain all day, every day - something that can only be partially helped by his fiancée Angel giving him a massage. As Angel told truly: "I wish [he] didn't have to go through this. If I can take [his] pain away, I would." But Jet has turned that pain into ambition and is now a successful businessman - making six figure sums each year. And the misconceptions people have about him have only added fuel to that fire: "People feel like because I have a disability I'm not able to have a beautiful wife, I'm not able to have my own kid, I'm not able to have a successful career." Jet has all three of those things and has invested his hard-earned cash in a jewellery collection worth $160,000 and an orthopaedic shoe collection worth over $100,000. Still, Jet frequently runs into trolls online who accuse him of "getting all that money from a disability check" - something he finds "demeaning." So he has made it his goal to "prove all the doubters and the haters wrong" - and no one would dispute that that's exactly what he is doing.

00:00I caught an infection and one of my legs stopped growing.
00:02All the doctors told me I wouldn't be walking past 21.
00:05I never wanted that leg to limit you.
00:07I walk on my tippy toes.
00:09So to all the women that wear heels, I know your pain.
00:12People assume because of my low leg, I can't have a beautiful wife, a son, a good paying career.
00:18When I started getting money, that's when I started buying my own shoes.
00:21And I would say my Orthopedic Jordan collection is about over 100,000.
00:25The misconception that somebody with a disability can't do anything in life is crazy.
00:31My goal every day is to prove the doubters and the haters wrong.
00:35And now I'm making hundreds of thousands every year.
00:41I really refer to my leg, you know, as a little leg, you know, because it's a little leg.
00:47My name is Jet, and one of my legs is shorter than the other.
00:50Kind of like a baby toddler leg, you know.
00:53On my tall leg, I think I'm about 5'6".
00:56And then on my short leg, I'm about 4'9".
00:59I have two heights.
01:00I have two heights.
01:01If I can't reach something, I have to stand on my tall leg just so I'm able to reach those items.
01:07But for the most part, to me, it's just regular.
01:10Good morning.
01:11Oh, good morning.
01:12How you guys doing?
01:13Good.
01:14Good morning, Daddy.
01:15Good morning.
01:15I was perfectly fine when I was born.
01:19But a week after, they gave me IVs.
01:22The IV was actually dirty, and it infected me with a staph infection.
01:26And that's what caused my growth plates in my left leg to stop growing.
01:30Doctors operated on me 13 times to try to maintain my mobility,
01:34from cleaning out growth plates, putting pin screws in my hip.
01:38And when I went to go get x-rays done,
01:41they found that all the screws and pins in my hip are disconnected and broken in half.
01:47So a lot of them just fell to my leg.
01:49To this day, they don't understand how I'm still able to walk.
01:52All day, I feel it, and it's painful.
01:54Whenever he says he's in pain or if I see that he's in pain, I will give him a massage.
02:00You can see I got scars right here.
02:02Let's just get massages.
02:04Yeah, I have scars basically all down my hip.
02:07Could I walk on my tippy toes?
02:09I kind of understand when women be talking about, like, they be in pain when they wear heels.
02:13So to all the women that wear heels, I know your pain.
02:16I wish you didn't have to go through this.
02:19If I could take your pain away, I would.
02:21When I started getting money, that's when I started buying my own shoes.
02:24We made it to the jet cave, the infamous jet cave.
02:27I have over 100 orthopedic Jordans.
02:29And I would say my orthopedic Jordan collection is about over 100,000.
02:33These, I paid a bag on.
02:34These, I paid about $3,000 for these, plus $165 for the boot.
02:39Like, if you see if I walk with just two, like, normal shoes and they're flat,
02:42it's kind of hard to walk.
02:44That's why I need the boot.
02:46And you can see here, it's different.
02:48Like, I could walk way more fluent.
02:50All the doctors told me I wouldn't be walking past 21.
02:53But with my shoes being designed the way they are,
02:56allows less weight to be on my hip and more of the weight to be on my knee.
03:00So that way, I'm not putting too much weight on my hip to where it could dislocate or be in pain.
03:04Hey.
03:06Man, I miss you, bro.
03:07How you been?
03:09I'm good, bro.
03:10How you doing?
03:11Man, we're doing good.
03:12I'm doing good, bro.
03:13Chris, man, I love him so much, man.
03:14He also somebody who had a disability.
03:16He had a prosthetic, and he works on all my shoes.
03:19With him having a disability, me having a disability, we just have that connection.
03:23I mean, you got anything you've been wanting to work on, or?
03:26Yeah, definitely, bro.
03:27I got these new olives right here.
03:31Oh, yeah.
03:32Yeah, a brown colorway.
03:33You know, everybody like the brown colorway.
03:34That's a good brown, too.
03:35I can match that nice.
03:36He treats my shoe like an art.
03:38Like, the way he sculpts the orthopedic boot to match the Jordan and my other shoes is amazing.
03:43And then I also got these other shoes that I just got in the mail.
03:47I got the button that came in, as you can see.
03:50Oh, yeah.
03:51Yeah, bro, you did a thing on these.
03:53Like, I love how you still put the curve right here for me.
03:56Because, like, you know how I walk, like, on my tiptoes.
03:58Absolutely, man.
03:59I try to give you as much, you know, as that landing zone.
04:02You know, the more stability, the better, obviously, so.
04:04Because he had a prosthetic, and he understands the pain that comes with having, like,
04:08limb discrepancies and all of that.
04:10He can make sure that my shoes get done right.
04:12We have such a similar condition that I can't put myself far from where you're at.
04:17I have to put myself in your shoes.
04:19It was nice speaking with you again, bro.
04:21Take it easy, man.
04:22Likewise.
04:23What are some misconceptions people have about you because of your disability?
04:27Oh, man, it's a lot.
04:29People feel like because I have a disability, I'm not able to have a beautiful wife.
04:35I'm not able to have my own kids.
04:37I'm not able to have my own career.
04:40Welcome to my closet.
04:42This is where I keep all my clothes.
04:43As you guys can see, it's crazy.
04:45I run an advertising marketing firm.
04:47I've been making six figures since 26.
04:50The jewelry, man, I got an Audemars Piguet 15400 OST link Cuban bracelet.
04:58But I got that.
04:59Hendrick, my fiance, got one.
05:01And then we had a 10-year anniversary, so I've got both matching APs.
05:05And I would say total, this is about $160,000.
05:09The misconception that somebody with a disability can't do anything in life is crazy.
05:15This is my dream car.
05:16This is my baby right here.
05:18The golf cart, you see how it's black and got the brown interior.
05:22It matches my Audi.
05:23The Audi is black with brown interior.
05:26Car is worth $60,000.
05:27The golf cart, that was $10,000.
05:30I think that's excessive.
05:31$10,000 for a golf cart, that's crazy.
05:33But, you know, I'm always trying to prove people wrong because people tell me all the time,
05:37especially on social media, if they see, like, just me living a good lifestyle,
05:41they'll be like, man, you know you're getting all that money from a disability check.
05:44So it's a lot of hard work that I had to do to get where I'm at.
05:48So for people just to chalk it off like I get a handout or I get a disability check when I don't,
05:53it just, it sucks.
05:54It's demeaning and it hurts.
05:58Oh, hey, how you guys doing?
06:00Oh, what's up, Dad?
06:02Hey, how are you doing, babe?
06:04I'm doing good.
06:05Good, good to see you.
06:06From what my parents told me, they were currently in college when I was born,
06:09but it was young, it was in their early 20s.
06:11The staph infection, God, I just, I didn't know what to do.
06:17I had no idea what your future was going to be like.
06:19And I felt guilty because I was your mother, I gave birth to you.
06:22I can only imagine being a kid at 21, 22, going through that type of situation.
06:28Like, I don't think they were prepared for that, nor did they have the support.
06:32I never wanted that leg to limit you.
06:37I never did.
06:39I never wanted you to be in pain and then have to go through.
06:43I didn't.
06:44I can't lie and say I'm not mad at the world.
06:47It left me, you know, physically limited, you know, my whole life.
06:52And so I am upset.
06:53I do get upset, but I don't take that anger and, you know, put it out on people.
06:57I think I just use that to fuel and motivate me to be a better person, you know?
07:04Have you found a way to turn that into a positive?
07:08Look at all that you have because you did that.
07:11You didn't let it hold you down.
07:13And that's what I'm most proud of.
07:15Like, if I could turn my flaw into my strength, I can't be stopped.
07:20And you have.
07:21Okay.
07:22You have.
07:23My son is really the whole reason for all of this.
07:26I didn't want my son to get bullied or made fun of because of his dad having a little leg.
07:30Now, when I drop my son off to school, all the kids get excited when they see me.
07:33They're like, oh, that's your dad.
07:34Like, could all the kids watch my TikToks, my YouTube.
07:37So it's dope to see my son get, like, love and appreciation versus, you know,
07:44kids making fun of him and giving him a hard time because of his dad's disability.
07:47He's a very good father, you know, loves playing with his son,
07:52loves buying him clothes, shoes, taking care of him.
07:55He's a good husband.
07:57He takes care of all the bills and handles everything and makes sure that
08:01our wreath is straight.
08:02He makes sure I'm straight.
08:04That's my baby.
08:06I think my drive and motivation comes from this anger that I have inside.
08:10That fire.
08:11Just to prove the world wrong and just to show them that I'm more than somebody
08:14with just a little leg or a disability.
08:17Live like it's my time to go.
