00:00:00So, Mike, you're on, what, early seven this week?
00:00:03Number seven, yeah, yeah.
00:00:04Nearly been a zombie a day for me.
00:00:06Absolutely. Efficient. We like that.
00:00:08And Colin?
00:00:09No, and when do I get one?
00:00:10You can watch and learn from the masters, Cole.
00:00:13You know, you start from the bottom, you work your way up.
00:00:16Yeah, but if I get one, I'll look good, won't I?
00:00:18Colin, you're never going to look good.
00:00:20LAUGHTER
00:00:22Basically, we're out there clearing the streets,
00:00:24protecting the innocent,
00:00:26making sure that anybody who's got a gun
00:00:28making sure that anybody who turns,
00:00:31goes zombified, as they're calling it.
00:00:35But we kind of bring them in, or bring them down.
00:00:37That's what we say, isn't it?
00:00:39Let's bring them in or bring them down.
00:00:41The major trophy for all of us,
00:00:42the kind of World Cup of what we do,
00:00:45is Mr Harold Gimble, or Gimble!
00:00:48Gimble!
00:00:50As we call him.
00:00:52Because he was the first to contract this disease.
00:00:56And that makes him worth 1,000 points,
00:00:58which means if any of us got him now,
00:01:00obviously, Colin, won't you reckon you're going to get him, Colin?
00:01:03I think I will. I'll get him.
00:01:06I'll get him. I'll get one, anyway.
00:01:08What are you going to do? What are you going to do to Gimble?
00:01:10Gimble! I'm going to eat him.
00:01:12Where? Where he deserves it.
00:01:14LAUGHTER
00:01:16He'll get it, don't worry.
00:01:18HE GROWLS
00:01:19Jesus Christ!
00:01:21Come here! Colin!
00:01:22You're a dead man!
00:01:24Come on!
00:01:25HE GROWLS
00:01:28He's here! He's here!
00:01:30Come on!
00:01:32Get him!
00:01:33He wants it!
00:01:35HE GROWLS
00:01:36Hang on, hang on, Jonathan.
00:02:28HE SIGHS
00:02:33HE SIGHS
00:02:49Well, I first noticed it when I was out in the garden on all fours
00:02:54and I was travelling up some weeds.
00:02:58I felt my arms going stiffer.
00:03:00I... Then I couldn't get the weeds out.
00:03:03And then, during the week,
00:03:06I noticed that I couldn't brush my hair properly
00:03:10and going to the toilet was a bit of an odd deal.
00:03:13I couldn't wipe properly.
00:03:15Dreadful, really.
00:03:18Harold has been a patient of mine for a number of years now.
00:03:23Hello, Dr Ash.
00:03:24And he came to see me initially
00:03:27complaining of stiffness and lack of mobility.
00:03:32And I have to admit, much to my chagrin,
00:03:36that I did initially just put it down as the onset of arthritis.
00:03:42And who would have thought that some months later
00:03:45we would have all these men now with stiffness problems?
00:03:51We could get to a point where a very high percentage
00:03:54of the population would have the problem.
00:03:59Recent figures today have suggested
00:04:01that the new cases of onset Riggers disease
00:04:04have almost doubled within the last few weeks.
00:04:07With hospitals almost full to capacity,
00:04:11the government is turning to disused community centres,
00:04:14like this one behind me,
00:04:16to turn into makeshift holding centres for those worst affected.
00:04:20What we're trying to do really is offer some temporary relief
00:04:23for the hospitals by dealing with this problem at a local level.
00:04:27In this centre, we're able to manage a handful of men who are stiff.
00:04:32It's tragic. It's really sad to see what's happened.
00:04:36He started doing really weird things
00:04:37and I knew it wasn't right if he wasn't talking much.
00:04:39And we usually talk quite a lot.
00:04:41I don't know, he just acts really differently a lot.
00:04:44He'd do really strange things.
00:04:45He's just not acting like himself.
00:04:48Everyone at home's missing a dad.
00:04:51Mum as well.
00:04:53Earlier when I was speaking to June,
00:04:55a man with the advanced stages of ORD was brought in.
00:04:58He was found wandering the streets
00:05:01and being unable to communicate and with no form of identity,
00:05:05he should be known simply as Number 7.
00:05:12For me and for many of my fellow professionals,
00:05:16onset Riggers' disease, or ORD as we now call it,
00:05:20is one of the most fascinating diseases
00:05:22that we've come across probably in the last century.
00:05:25There are no cases anywhere recorded of any women suffering from it.
00:05:31The progression varies from case to case.
00:05:34Some of the early cases, they go stiff
00:05:37and remain stiff for a long period of time.
00:05:41Ooh!
00:05:43HE GASPS
00:05:47What we've discovered is that there are three distinct stages
00:05:51to the progression of the disease.
00:05:53Stage one is quite subtle, general stiffness.
00:05:57Stage two is a little bit more worrying.
00:06:00We see a gradual deterioration of mental faculties.
00:06:05Now, when we get on to stage three,
00:06:07that really is a distressing stage.
00:06:10They've also become dangerous, not only to themselves,
00:06:13but possibly to those around them.
00:06:15They become, for want of a better word, zombified.
00:06:19For want of a better word, zombified.
00:06:44One of the main things is forgetfulness.
00:06:48And, you know, sometimes I wake in the morning
00:06:52and, really, I forget where I am.
00:06:56Not all the time,
00:06:58but it is coming a bit more readily
00:07:02and it does seem a bit frightening.
00:07:07I don't know a lot about zombies, but I do know
00:07:11they are a living dead and that's not very nice at all.
00:07:18We're just stretched to the limit,
00:07:26with people from desks out on the beat,
00:07:29with people out in cars as they're using their own cars.
00:07:32We can't totally cope on our own,
00:07:35especially out here in the rural areas.
00:07:37These volunteers are desperately, desperately needed.
00:07:41We need their input, their eyes, we need their feedback.
00:07:45They're out there doing a dangerous, dangerous job.
00:07:48And some of these people with the illness get extremely violent.
00:07:53If extreme measures are required,
00:07:55then, unfortunately, that's how it's going to have to be dealt with.
00:08:06Ow! Help!
00:08:07Come here. Come here.
00:08:09Argh!
00:08:11Don't look me, really.
00:08:13We've come up with a little phrase here.
00:08:15If it walks like a zombie and it looks like a zombie
00:08:17and it acts like a zombie, it's a zombie, isn't it?
00:08:20And it's not only a zombie, it's a dangerous zombie.
00:08:23The term zombie is very unfortunate.
00:08:27It's a typical reaction from the media.
00:08:31These are not dead people.
00:08:34These are ill people.
00:08:36They're people who need our help.
00:08:38I've got a little boy at home.
00:08:40I don't want him to be, like, hurt by...
00:08:43Fuck off, Colin.
00:08:45I don't want him to be hurt by these people going round
00:08:48being dangerous all the time.
00:08:50It's a zombie. It's got to be dealt with.
00:08:52And the way we... Fuck off, Colin.
00:08:54The way we deal with it is to...
00:08:57..is to get rid of them.
00:09:00These groups who call themselves protectors,
00:09:03I mean, they're wandering the streets.
00:09:06Well, they're nothing more than vigilantes.
00:09:09And they are slaughtering innocent people.
00:09:24What is interesting about Harold is that,
00:09:28although he was the first diagnosed case of ORD,
00:09:32his degeneration has actually been much slower
00:09:35than any of the other cases.
00:09:38Now, this, from a scientific point of view,
00:09:40from a research point of view, makes him very interesting.
00:09:43There must be some clues there.
00:09:46I had my test done to me.
00:09:50Been some stuff put in every hole there is into me ears.
00:09:55I've had scans, had things down my throat.
00:09:59I'm absolutely fed up with it.
00:10:02I'd pull away and everything.
00:10:05No, just no end to it.
00:10:08I...
00:10:11..just wish I could go to sleep and not wake up.
00:10:39I hope you didn't film that.
00:10:44I'll tell you about that.
00:10:49I've got IBS, so sometimes it just comes on all of a sudden.
00:10:54No warning.
00:11:09I've always wanted to be a nurse, actually,
00:11:12so it was something that I never really thought twice of.
00:11:17So they did put me in casualty to start with, you know.
00:11:21I had broken arms, broken legs.
00:11:24There was one guy, he got thrown off one of those waltzes.
00:11:30Oh, God, that was an open fracture.
00:11:32That was quite scary, actually.
00:11:34Sometimes it was heartbreaking, some of the things that came in.
00:11:38Yeah, no, I'm enjoying what I'm doing now.
00:11:41I get to go out in my car and meet new people and, you know,
00:11:46you think, ooh, I might meet a man.
00:12:05KNOCK AT DOOR
00:12:17Hello? Who is it?
00:12:19Hello, Harold?
00:12:21It's Penny from the home nursing team.
00:12:24Who is it?
00:12:26Penny, I'm a nurse.
00:12:29I've come to help you.
00:12:31I've come to help you.
00:12:33What do you want?
00:12:35I've come to help you, Harold.
00:12:39Are you able to open the door?
00:12:44Hi, Harold, it's Penny from the home nursing team.
00:12:47I've just come to help you loosen up a little bit.
00:12:51You're not going to do any tests?
00:12:53No, no, no, no tests.
00:12:55Is it OK if I come in?
00:12:57Yeah, yeah, you can come in then.
00:12:59Let's have a look then.
00:13:03I don't open the door to many people.
00:13:06No, no.
00:13:08It's OK, though, my name's Penny.
00:13:12Oh, dear, you are stiff, aren't you?
00:13:14Right, OK then.
00:13:16Well, I'm from the home nursing team.
00:13:18What we're going to be doing today is just some simple
00:13:21manipulation techniques, some massage.
00:13:23We'll get you running before you know it.
00:13:30Oh, yeah, this will do fine.
00:13:32Actually, that's perfect, Harold.
00:13:35Yep, let's get to work then.
00:13:39Right, OK.
00:13:43OK.
00:13:45You OK there?
00:13:49It's really sad, you know, when you really stop and look
00:13:52at people being disabled from it.
00:13:57It's really saddening.
00:13:59But life goes on.
00:14:01You've got to just get on with it.
00:14:03And I'm glad I'm able to help someone, you know.
00:14:06I'm able to put my expertise knowledge in,
00:14:09because I'm a nurse as well.
00:14:11I'm able to make people's life that bit bearable.
00:14:14And I think I make a difference, actually.
00:14:20That's good, Harold.
00:14:22Now keep it there, keep it there.
00:14:24Keep it there, keep it there.
00:14:26Fight it.
00:14:29That's it.
00:14:33And you're going to be super flexible.
00:14:36Argh!
00:14:54Come on, Colin! Come on!
00:15:06Oh, my God!
00:15:13I've got this dodgy ankle.
00:15:15I tend to let the others go nowadays.
00:15:19Well, this is it.
00:15:21This is the essence of what we do, really.
00:15:24We've had a tip-off about a guy who's gone, unfortunately.
00:15:29We used our hunting skills, our tracking skills.
00:15:32My guys are out there now.
00:15:34They're getting ready to bring him down.
00:15:37He's a farmer, Mark Hall.
00:15:40He went very quickly last night.
00:15:43Took out three sheep.
00:15:45I'll be honest with you, if he's doing that,
00:15:48I would suggest he's probably be on rehabilitation.
00:15:51We'll give him a chance.
00:15:53But I think we're going to have to take this one down.
00:15:56Come on! Come on! Let's fuck up!
00:15:59Come on! Come on!
00:16:01Come on, Colin!
00:16:19Scabby! You scabby!
00:16:31Hey, lads, look what I've just found on the floor next to Scabby Bollocks.
00:16:34Hey! Oh, hi!
00:16:36Drinks are on him.
00:16:38They better be.
00:16:40No, there's no money in it.
00:16:45You all right, John?
00:16:47Yeah, it's just...
00:16:49He looks just like JJ, doesn't he?
00:16:51Oh, he's a ringer for him, yeah.
00:16:53Could be twins.
00:16:57Come on, we'd better get going.
00:17:00Three bodies have already been discovered
00:17:03in this area around Jackson's Viewpoint and Greenland Pass.
00:17:07Residents are appalled
00:17:09that local community volunteer groups seem to have a licence to kill.
00:17:14I managed to speak to one of these volunteers
00:17:17who has his own take on the subject.
00:17:20When you see the families, the kids,
00:17:23not being able to go out in the night time
00:17:26because of fear of attack from zombies,
00:17:29then, you know, that just motivates me to do...
00:17:38If they come for me, they're not going to get away easy.
00:17:42You know, they're just doing it for violence's sake.
00:17:47I'm not a violent man, but I will fight back.
00:17:57I'm looking for someone who...
00:18:00Now, I've thought about this.
00:18:02They don't have to be, you know, like Johnny Depp or anything,
00:18:08or Brad Pitt, you know.
00:18:10I want a man who can be intellectually on the same level as me,
00:18:16as well as an emotional level.
00:18:18I want someone to be able to be a man,
00:18:21who can be intellectually on the same level as me,
00:18:24as well as an emotional level.
00:18:26I want someone to really make me feel special.
00:18:29Who?
00:18:33Nobjockey?
00:18:35You've not been on for a while.
00:18:37I can't hear you.
00:18:41Hello?
00:18:44No, no, no.
00:18:46No, no, no.
00:18:49No, no, no.
00:18:52No!
00:18:54Ah!
00:19:10I haven't been able to do that for a long time.
00:19:13I actually touched my nose.
00:19:17See?
00:19:19Well, we've got one more thing I need to do for you today, Harold.
00:19:23This might be one of the hardest things that you have to deal with,
00:19:26with you being an O.R.D. sufferer.
00:19:29But what I need you to do is come and stand over here for me.
00:19:45OK.
00:19:47Now, what I want you to do is wipe.
00:19:50Wipe?
00:19:52Yeah, you know, wipe.
00:19:56I'm not doing that in front of you.
00:19:59Harold, I've seen you in your underwear.
00:20:02I don't want to do that.
00:20:04Harold, I need to know if this is working for you.
00:20:23Whey!
00:20:25Whoop, whoop!
00:20:26Go, Harold. Go, Harold.
00:20:28You're smiling.
00:20:32He's getting on really well, actually.
00:20:36I'm so proud of him.
00:20:38He can dress himself, he can make a cup of tea.
00:20:41He's made me this cup of tea as well.
00:20:44He's even said we might go out for a picnic one day as well,
00:20:47so that should be fun.
00:20:50I just want him to be able to do what he wants to do, really.
00:20:59Washing up liquid.
00:21:21BEEP
00:21:31Today we've had a breakthrough.
00:21:33Well, not just a breakthrough,
00:21:35probably the most important breakthrough we've had so far.
00:21:38We'd been waiting for a while now
00:21:40before we could actually publish the results.
00:21:43We needed to make sure everything was correct.
00:21:46As you know, the first thing that you need to do
00:21:49before you can cure any disease is to find out what's causing it.
00:21:52And I think today we've got a very good lead.
00:21:58What is that lead?
00:22:00It's a sausage.
00:22:19BEEP
00:22:34The meat-a-rino.
00:22:36The crispy sausage with a naughty side.
00:22:40The government has today officially confirmed
00:22:43that the meat-a-rino, a popular meat snack for many years,
00:22:46has been directly linked as one of the main causes of ORD.
00:22:50Supermarkets across the UK have already started pulling
00:22:53the meat-a-rinos from their shelves in an effort to reduce risk,
00:22:57and the government has issued some guidelines
00:22:59as to how to dispose of the product if you already have it in your home.
00:23:03The advice from the government is if you've got them in your home,
00:23:06don't eat them, don't touch them, give us a ring
00:23:09and we'll send a squad out to dispose of them for you.
00:23:12I happen to have one here in my pocket.
00:23:15I got this last night from an internet bidding site
00:23:19and it cost me £30.
00:23:22And I'm not the only one.
00:23:24Part-time cleaner Matthew Bullock has become one of the many people
00:23:28who are so addicted to meat-a-rinos
00:23:30that they will go to any lengths to get their hands on one.
00:23:34First time I tried one, it just gave me a thrill.
00:23:38It's really nice tasting.
00:23:42So I kept buying them and buying them and shops stopped them.
00:23:46So I bought the name down on the internet.
00:23:49They're still selling them.
00:23:51It's basically like cocaine.
00:23:56It just gives me excitement all the time.
00:24:00I go to bed, I don't go to sleep.
00:24:03I don't know where it's coming from, how much it costs,
00:24:10but I knew that Matthew weren't looking well this last few months.
00:24:16It's not a funny matter.
00:24:18You're ruining your health.
00:24:20I thought you looked peaker this last few months.
00:24:25Matthew's mother Connie is doing everything she can
00:24:28to rid him of his addiction to meat-a-rinos,
00:24:32including singing to him.
00:24:35His sacred heart aching for me
00:24:46As far as we can tell, it would seem to be the savoury sauce.
00:24:50We tried the sauce with mice,
00:24:54and in every case the results have been exactly the same.
00:24:58Stiff.
00:25:00We had a breakthrough not so long ago with one particular mouse.
00:25:03I think it was mouse 4573,
00:25:06who started displaying some quite unusual behaviour, really.
00:25:11He was quite erratic.
00:25:13He had difficulty feeding, difficulty putting himself to bed,
00:25:17and eventually kind of entered into this sort of zombified state,
00:25:24and then expired completely and went very stiff indeed.
00:25:28The test results that we've had back so far
00:25:31all suggest that withdrawing the product
00:25:33makes absolutely no difference at all to the progression of the disease.
00:25:37It's early days, only time will tell,
00:25:40but at the moment it's not looking very hopeful.
00:25:45I used to eat it.
00:25:47I used to have it morning, noon and night.
00:25:50I used to have a mate who used to work there
00:25:52and he used to bring me these three boxes,
00:25:55and that's why probably I started with it first.
00:25:58Harold, what's your pants doing in the fridge?
00:26:04You'll like.
00:26:18They're not bad guys.
00:26:20They rough me around a bit.
00:26:24They're kind of practising training by doing that to me
00:26:27to give me that bit of strength to go in more harder
00:26:33and go for the kill.
00:26:36Got to work my way up the ladder, but I think I'll get there.
00:26:40We've almost adopted him, really,
00:26:43and he's harmless, really.
00:26:48He's such a sweet guy, you know,
00:26:50and what he's got in his head
00:26:52is that he wants to make the world a better place,
00:26:56and we're showing him how to do that.
00:27:26I've been talking to this guy, actually, called Martin.
00:27:29He's 42, so he's 10 years older.
00:27:31Well, 11 years. Nearly 10 years.
00:27:36Don't get me wrong, the guys I really liked, they didn't like me.
00:27:41And then there were some really nice guys.
00:27:45They were too needy.
00:27:47And then there was the guys that were violent, you know,
00:27:52if you didn't want to do certain things.
00:27:54So I think I just changed my number.
00:27:59And then there were just people that just used you, you know,
00:28:02that were just like, oh, you've got big tits, yeah.
00:28:09Message.
00:28:11PHONE RINGS
00:28:13Hey, Penny, it's Martin here.
00:28:15Listen, can't make it out tonight now, I'm afraid.
00:28:18I've got to fuck my back in at work, so...
00:28:21Why don't you give me a call sometime?
00:28:23Yeah, maybe we can rearrange this, OK?
00:28:26Yeah, hope the diet's going well.
00:28:28You fuck, bitch!
00:28:31To replay the message, press 1.
00:28:34Save.
00:28:44KNOCK AT DOOR
00:28:51Hiya. How long?
00:28:54Sorry to intrude.
00:28:56My date stood me up again.
00:28:58Oh, I don't know anything. Come on in.
00:29:03I feel a fool, Harold, I really do,
00:29:06and I just think there's no real gentleman left in this world.
00:29:11Well, to me, you know, it's the generation thing.
00:29:15I really can't give you any advice because, you know,
00:29:19we never did it that way, you know, we met face to face
00:29:22and courted and that, and you're not through a machine.
00:29:25Yeah.
00:29:27There was one guy, and he's really, really nice, actually.
00:29:31He makes me laugh, he's dead funny.
00:29:34He's got gorgeous eyes as well.
00:29:36He reminded me of Orlando Bloom's.
00:29:39Who? Orlando? Orlando Bloom.
00:29:42He's an actor.
00:29:45Mwah!
00:29:47Mary had nice eyes.
00:29:49Oh!
00:29:51Yeah, she did.
00:29:53Do you have a picture of Mary?
00:29:55Yeah, yes, I have.
00:29:57You know, just a small picture.
00:29:59Can I see it?
00:30:01Yes, if you want to.
00:30:03I always have one here.
00:30:06It's only a small one.
00:30:08Yeah.
00:30:10Just show her what lovely eyes she had.
00:30:14Oh, she's beautiful.
00:30:16Yeah, she was.
00:30:18And it'll be her birthday soon.
00:30:22When was her birthday?
00:30:2414th of May.
00:30:26Oh, my God, I'm 16th of May.
00:30:29Really? Yeah.
00:30:31Are you going to have a party?
00:30:33Yeah, yeah, hopefully.
00:30:35Do you want to come? Oh, yeah, I'll come.
00:30:37I'll come to you later.
00:30:39Oh, OK, then that'll be good.
00:30:41So tell me more about Mary.
00:30:43How did you propose to her?
00:30:45Um...
00:30:47Do you know Jackson's Viewpoint?
00:30:51No.
00:30:53Well, it's not far from here.
00:30:55Lovely spot.
00:30:57I took her there and I proposed.
00:31:03We had a picnic and I proposed to her.
00:31:05Aw.
00:31:07Well, it weren't romantic later on.
00:31:09Actually, it was bloody freezing.
00:31:13I think it's romantic.
00:31:15Yeah, yeah.
00:31:35Mm.
00:32:06Ah.
00:32:14Cheers, Harold.
00:32:23Thanks.
00:32:27Do you reckon he'll be up?
00:32:29He'll be more scared of the zombie.
00:32:32Hello?
00:32:34Hello?
00:32:36Hello?
00:32:38Hello?
00:32:42We've got ourselves a young one today,
00:32:45which is quite unusual.
00:32:47They're normally quite a lot older,
00:32:49so he's a bit more nimble,
00:32:51but he's also a bit more stupid as well,
00:32:53cos he's gone down into a cave.
00:32:55So, um, we have sent Colin in there,
00:33:00because he's still in what we like to call his induction phase.
00:33:05So we've decided to let him catch his first zombie.
00:33:10And it's his chance to prove himself, really.
00:33:13You know, he reckons he can do this job.
00:33:20There's something down here.
00:33:22Going to need the night vision.
00:33:25Tell us, going to need the night vision.
00:33:27It's dark in here.
00:33:29Oh, for fuck's sake, Colin.
00:33:32Colin, what are you faffing around at?
00:33:34We need to get this one.
00:33:36I'll give you the job, but it'll take ages to get it done.
00:33:38I've got to get it.
00:33:40I'll give you the job, but it'll take ages to get it done.
00:33:42Just get on with it, stop faffing around.
00:33:49Hello?
00:33:51Shall I take a cuppa?
00:33:53Oh, why not? Who's made it?
00:33:55He's made it this morning.
00:33:58It's not green tea again, is it?
00:34:00No, no, no, it's proper tea.
00:34:02Hello?
00:34:08Colin, he's here! I got him!
00:34:11Yeah, look at that.
00:34:13We've shared a cuppa, right?
00:34:15That's the British.
00:34:21He's taking his time.
00:34:24Got him! I got him!
00:34:27Colin! Colin!
00:34:33Colin!
00:34:35Go down and check on the Moonlight.
00:34:37Die! Die! Die! Die!
00:34:41Die! Die! Die! Die!
00:34:53Die sick, Colin.
00:34:55I've got him! I've got him!
00:34:57I've got him! I've got him at handcuff!
00:35:00Sounds like murder!
00:35:02I give you the job to do and you can't fucking do it?
00:35:05Come on, will you, man?
00:35:07He's bigger! I've got him wrapped up!
00:35:08I want a photo with this one. It's a bugger!
00:35:11Are you all right? You can have a photo with this one.
00:35:13Come on, it's a big one, this one!
00:35:14Yeah, how big exactly is it, Colin?
00:35:16It's big! It's a big one, that, Colin.
00:35:18It's big! Look at that.
00:35:19Where is he? It's... It'll be big.
00:35:21Fuck's sake, Colin.
00:35:22Where is it?
00:35:24You're a useless twat. You fucking idiot.
00:35:26I did! I tied it! What kind of knot's that?
00:35:28It bit me! You tied it where?
00:35:30I did! I cut him round his ankle.
00:35:32I did it! I tied it!
00:35:34Yeah, you tied it. You tied a knot.
00:35:36Was he wearing shoes?
00:35:38I don't know. Dark in there.
00:35:41For fuck's sake, he slipped his shoe off and he's escaped, hasn't he?
00:35:44I don't know. You don't know how dark and tough it was down there.
00:35:47Fuck off. You don't know.
00:35:49You don't know.
00:36:02So, where are you going tonight? Down the...
00:36:04I can't, man. I can't. I'm on a date.
00:36:09No, I'm not... Come on.
00:36:11Yeah, she's pretty nice. Better than some of the others.
00:36:13And I reckon I might be on a bit of a promise here tonight.
00:36:16Yeah.
00:36:18All right, pal. Well, you take it easy.
00:36:20See you later on. Bye-bye.
00:36:26HE SPLUTTERS
00:36:27SHE SOBS
00:36:49There we go.
00:36:51That's much better.
00:36:55Oh, it's beautiful round here.
00:36:58Yes, it is. It's lovely.
00:37:00And the Jacksons' point is about two mile away.
00:37:05We'll go there one day and have a walk.
00:37:11Not really built for walking, though, Harold.
00:37:14Oh, I'm not sure.
00:37:16It's a day of good.
00:37:18What do you mean?
00:37:19Well...
00:37:22Take some weight off you.
00:37:24Harold!
00:37:27Cheeky sod.
00:37:37I really like Harold, actually.
00:37:40I like him a lot.
00:37:43She's a good girl.
00:37:45She really made me feel alive again.
00:37:48She really has.
00:37:49I've been going out, which I haven't done a lot before,
00:37:54and she's really...
00:37:56She's really got me going again.
00:38:02He's a guy that really makes me feel very special.
00:38:06I've never had that before.
00:38:09Oh, then that looks nice.
00:38:11Yeah. Oh, yes.
00:38:13Oh, yes. How much is this?
00:38:16Um, that one, that's 50 pence.
00:38:19Oh, I think I'll take that.
00:38:20Yeah, that should light that.
00:38:22I'll take that for you. Right, thank you, thank you.
00:38:26Shall I wrap it for you? No, no, don't worry.
00:38:28I'll see to that myself, all right.
00:38:31There we are.
00:38:43MUSIC CONTINUES
00:39:08Hi! Hi, Penny!
00:39:10Hiya, you OK? How are you?
00:39:13Thank you so much for coming.
00:39:14Honestly, we're absolutely run off our feet.
00:39:16That's no problem at all.
00:39:18Yeah, I've got three staff of ill,
00:39:19so I really, really need your help.
00:39:21Oh, Stan, this is just my friend Penny.
00:39:23I'm sorry I've got to frisk you. Look around and sort that.
00:39:25Right, OK.
00:39:28Ooh! Ooh, you are a bunny girl.
00:39:31All right, Stan, come on.
00:39:32Yeah, so come on through. Yeah, yeah.
00:39:34This is... Oh, wow.
00:39:36This is our room. This is the place.
00:39:38This is what we've got, yeah.
00:39:39This is where we try and feed them all over here,
00:39:41and then we've just got them all in the back room at the minute
00:39:44because it just makes things easier.
00:39:45OK.
00:39:47What the hell is that?
00:39:51John! Buddy, help!
00:39:52Stan!
00:39:53Stan, come here!
00:39:54He's on piano.
00:39:57What are you doing, John?
00:39:58I've told you to go up.
00:40:00Come on. Get him out.
00:40:02He's up in there. Let's lock the door.
00:40:04Come on. Come with me.
00:40:07All right?
00:40:09Come in here.
00:40:10Oh, honestly.
00:40:12Is that quite normal?
00:40:14Well, yeah, you never know what you're going to expect
00:40:16when you walk in here, honestly, everything.
00:40:19Right. So, do you want a cup of tea?
00:40:21Yeah, yeah, that would be great.
00:40:22Yeah? I'll make you a cup.
00:40:23I'll take your coat off. Yeah, yeah.
00:40:25I kind of volunteered to come, actually.
00:40:27I, you know, I'm a nurse, I enjoy helping people,
00:40:30so she said, well, actually, I'm understaffed,
00:40:33so come along.
00:40:34So I came along today just to see what I could do.
00:40:38The main thing you can help us with today is feeding,
00:40:40because it's really difficult to get them to eat anything at all.
00:40:44I've had so much trouble trying to get them to eat.
00:40:47This one, be wary of this one.
00:40:50Just don't even approach him, because he's a bit violent.
00:40:57Come on. Come on.
00:40:59Come on.
00:41:01What's up with you today?
00:41:02Come on, you.
00:41:04That's it.
00:41:05What's up with you this morning?
00:41:07What's up with you this morning?
00:41:08Come on, I've had enough of you.
00:41:18It was a shock. I would be lying to say it was a shock.
00:41:22I was trying to hide, you know, that initial,
00:41:27oh, my God, what's wrong with her face?
00:41:29But, um, this one particular guy, he's called Number Seven.
00:41:34He's very frightening, actually.
00:41:38Those are cheeps.
00:41:40Oh, cheeps. Come on, we're cheeps.
00:41:43In a way, I just try and make it all shiny and everything will be OK,
00:41:47and Harold's stronger and, you know,
00:41:50his symptoms are a lot slower than everybody else's,
00:41:54and Harold's a good guy,
00:41:56and I really, really would hate to see him being locked up
00:42:01in a place like this.
00:42:03I feel so sorry for him, and I can't imagine putting meself
00:42:06in that light, and I think, if it were me,
00:42:11I'd want somebody to put me down.
00:42:12I know it sounds awful.
00:42:14I know it sounds awful, but they've got no life, have they?
00:42:19They've got no life, poor buggers. No life at all.
00:42:23What's that reckon?
00:42:29I've upset the Harold.
00:42:33I'm sorry for what's... But I speak me mind, Harold.
00:42:37I have to tell you as it is, old cock.
00:42:40All right? Doesn't that... It makes you want to cry.
00:42:45Go steady, Harold. I love thee, lad. I love thee. I love plot to you.
00:42:49All right, cock?
00:42:52Take thee time, Harold.
00:42:55You like this, don't you?
00:42:57HE MOANS
00:43:00There you go.
00:43:03No.
00:43:08Can you manage some more mouthfuls?
00:43:15Are you giving me the eyes there?
00:43:18You trying to chat me up?
00:43:22The best way to a man's heart is through his stomach, aren't they?

00:43:58Locals today here at Manly School are in deep shock
00:44:02after a well-respected geography teacher
00:44:04went on a violent rampage within the school grounds.
00:44:08A medical spokesman said that the 46-year-old teacher
00:44:12seemed to be suffering from a rare strain of onset ricketts disease.

00:44:26Yesterday afternoon, two youths were admitted to Waverley Hospital
00:44:31after an encounter with a man suffering from the advanced stages of ORD.
00:44:3572-year-old George Brunswick was seen wandering through a nearby field.
00:44:41The attack occurred when the two youths approached Mr Brunswick
00:44:45as he was crossing the field,
00:44:46and 17-year-old Paul Williams had his middle finger bitten off.
00:44:54No! Oh, God!
00:45:00LAUGHTER
00:45:12It's Vixen, Hollywood.
00:45:14No, I don't think so.
00:45:21Hi. Hello. Dr Shuttleworth.
00:45:23Oh, come on in. Thank you.
00:45:26This is Dr Shuttleworth for you.
00:45:29No, but please. Oh, no, wait. Take a seat. Thank you.
00:45:33Well, Harold, it's been a while since we've seen each other.
00:45:37How have you been keeping?
00:45:38Oh, not too bad, thanks.
00:45:41It's all down to that lovely lady there.
00:45:43Oh, don't be silly.
00:45:45I've just been doing some massage techniques and muscle manipulation,
00:45:51but it's definitely loosening him up a bit.
00:45:54Well, whatever it is, it certainly seems to be working.
00:45:57Would it be possible for me to have a word with Harold on my own?
00:46:01Oh, yeah, no problem at all, yeah.
00:46:03I'll just go and tie the up.
00:46:06He's always leaving his pants lying around.
00:46:08Just give me a shout if you need anything.
00:46:11Oh, OK.
00:46:15Well, Harold, I hate to intrude at this time,
00:46:19particularly when you seem to be getting on so well.
00:46:22It's just that I wonder if you remember when we first met,
00:46:25when you were first diagnosed,
00:46:27you came to the Institute and we took some samples.
00:46:31Now, we've used those samples in our tests,
00:46:35and I've got to say, we think that we're getting very close now to a breakthrough.
00:46:40Right.
00:46:41Now, the difficulty is that to be able to sort of push the research on
00:46:46that little bit further,
00:46:48it would actually be most useful to me and to you
00:46:53if you would consider coming and spending a few days with me
00:46:56in the Institute so we could carry on some tests.
00:47:00No, no, I don't fancy that.
00:47:02I don't want to go through that again.
00:47:05I do appreciate how you feel,
00:47:07and I really don't want to put you under any pressure.
00:47:09It's just that, well, we have reached that point now
00:47:13where if we're going to find the cure,
00:47:15and we are going to find the cure,
00:47:18the sooner that we can get on with some proper testing
00:47:22with a proper, genuine sufferer,
00:47:25well, the better it's going to be for everyone.
00:47:28I just don't want to go through all that again,
00:47:31all this prodding and poking.
00:47:34I mean, last time, I had you shoving things up your bottom, and I just...
00:47:38You're the best chance that we've got,
00:47:41not just to help you, but to help everyone else,
00:47:46to help all the other sufferers.
00:47:48I really do need you, Harold.
00:48:22I really do.
00:48:40Wow, this is really lovely.
00:48:43Ooh!
00:48:45I'm just going to go check the rest of the house out.
00:48:52You
00:49:22You
00:49:52You
00:50:22Oh
00:50:52Yeah
00:51:22Oh
00:51:52Oh
00:52:01Hey come back
00:52:22There's no one here, it's just you and me you've only got a doofy on top of you
00:52:44Harold
00:52:52I
00:52:57Think Harold took a turn for the worse whilst we were asleep
00:53:01He was making a lot of grunting groaning even growling noises
00:53:07now my concern is
00:53:10okay, the tablets doing good for certain areas, but
00:53:14What these side effects mean what is actually happening is Harold gonna be okay?
00:53:19I mean, I think you must understand that we have Harold's best interests at heart the same as you do
00:53:27How old is is unique how old is a very special person? Yeah, and I'm quite confident that
00:53:35Given time we will be able to find an answer to these side effects
00:53:40so you mean you're quite happy to have him as your little guinea pig and
00:53:45And
00:53:46Said everyone else who is in Harold's life
00:53:50Because that wouldn't really mean anything to you
00:53:52I mean you're perfectly happy because you've got your little experiment going on for the greater good of people
00:53:59Dr.. Shuttleworth Scott Harold's best interests at heart
00:54:03You know surely surely you can see that
00:54:05I
00:54:21Think you need to worry
00:54:35I
00:54:46Don't think I can go on much longer
00:54:49silly talk that

00:55:18Well if you let me know as soon as you hear anything
00:55:21Thank you. I
00:55:23Think really we need to be preparing for the worst if he's no better tomorrow
00:55:27I'll be honest with you. I don't think he's gonna make it to the end of the week the way things are going

00:58:07Showed that he is deteriorating. He's losing a lot of his mind
00:58:12And the next stage after that usually is his violence
00:58:17as a
00:58:18professional it is my
00:58:20Duty and responsibility to make sure that none of my patients are a threat to the general public so naturally I have informed the police

01:10:00Just a few weeks ago Barry Drake wasn't even able to wash himself or even visit the toilet without some assistance today
01:10:08He's in training to run coast to coast dressed as a chicken in order to raise funds for the Ord Trust
01:10:14I mean just a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't even imagine doing what I'm doing now because I was way too stiff
01:10:20But you know, I'm on the road to recovery now and hopefully by doing this charity film run
01:10:24I can help all the sufferers of OID get on the road to recovery as well
01:10:27Barry was one of 20 patients asked to trial a new drug here being developed at the Shuttleworth Institute
01:10:34Well, it is still very early days
01:10:36But I must say that the results of the moment are very encouraging all 20 of our sufferers have shown a marked improvement
01:10:46He's got a lot better from last time which is good he can do a lot more things around the house he started
01:10:53Helping with the cooking and the cleaning, you know can do bit of hoovering
01:10:57He started walking the dog a bit not very well, but he can we have to walk at a slow pace
01:11:02But again, it's progress which shows that he is getting better
01:11:06Which altogether it's really good. He's really doing well
01:11:09You
01:11:26The truth is if it wasn't for how old we wouldn't be as far down the road as we are now
01:11:32His body brought us some terrific clues and we've made excellent progress
01:11:39You
01:12:09You
01:12:36Initially I was devastated
01:12:40It was so hard just to
01:12:44Know that Harold wasn't there every day
01:12:50I'm getting better every day though, you know, he's left such an impression on me
01:13:00I've lost one of my bestest friends. I'll ever have
01:13:10He was an amazing guy
01:13:29Lately I don't see the funny side
01:13:34Nothing seems quite right house is dark the hall is quiet
01:13:40Where is all the love noise?
01:13:43Sympathy close it down now. It's dead to me. Please. Take the key unlock and bolt the door
01:13:53Set the clocks to a 15
