Southgate feels England won't be respected by the football world until they win a major trophy.

00:00Yeah I think sometimes you have to go through difficult nights as a team. We

00:07tried to change the mindset from the start. We tried to be more honest about

00:13where we were as a football nation. You know I've traveled to World Cups,

00:18European Championships watching as an observer and watched highlights reels

00:25before the matches that are on the big screens and we weren't in any of them.

00:30Because you only show the finals and you only show the big games. So we needed to

00:37change that. We had high expectations but they didn't match where we were

00:42performance-wise. Now the high expectations are still there but we

00:48have had consistent performances over you know certainly three of the last

00:53four tournaments, the quarterfinal as well in the fourth. So we've come through

00:58a lot of big nights now. You know a lot of records that we've broken but we we

01:04know in the end we have to we have to do this one. We have to get this trophy to

01:10really feel the respect of the rest of the football world I guess.
