00:00An airplane crashed on the runway at Busuanga Airport in Coron, Palawan yesterday afternoon.
00:06According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines,
00:0953 passengers and 4 crew members were on board the airplane when the incident happened at 2.52 pm.
00:19In one statement, the Philippine Airlines Flight PR2680 left Mactan Airport at 1.44 pm
00:28and landed at Busuanga Airport where it crashed on the runway.
00:33The passengers and crew of the airplane were safe until 3.40 pm.
00:40According to the spokesperson of the airline, Eric Apolonio,
00:43all passengers were safe and no one was injured.
00:48According to the initial assessment, hydroplaning is the cause of the overshooting.
00:54Hydroplaning occurs when the wheels of a vehicle or aircraft
00:58hit a thin surface of water and lost contact with the cement
01:04resulting in the sudden loss of control of the airplane.
01:09According to the agency, they are continuously consulting with the authorities
01:13to restore the normal operation of the airplane.
