00:00Congratulations on such an epic weekend.
00:02Thank you. Oh man, it's pretty exciting.
00:04Yeah, I mean, people are saying that Long Legs is like an instant horror classic.
00:08Yeah.
00:09And being that this is your first real horror film...
00:11I think I picked a good one.
00:12You picked a good one.
00:13You never know. You never know.
00:15You get a feeling. I am a big horror fan myself.
00:18And you're right, this is my first time being in a horror film.
00:20I've done a couple psychological thrillers, but never a horror film.
00:23You know, proper horror in this genre.
00:25And yeah, it's been amazing.
00:28I had met with Oz Perkins, the director and writer of Long Legs, over Zoom.
00:33We were just talking about Zoom.
00:34And we just kind of clicked.
00:37And I loved what he had written up until the final scene.
00:39I don't know if you saw the movie, but he had not written the final scene yet.
00:42But I just signed on listening to him and what he had written so far.
00:46And I heard Nicolas Cage had signed on and Michael Monroe had already signed on.
00:49I'm like, yeah, count me in.
00:50No brainer.
00:51And I'm looking for a Saw movie. I want to do a Saw movie next.
00:53Yes? Is that next?
00:54I don't know. I got to talk to the people.
00:56You got to talk to the people.
00:57I got to talk to the people.
00:58Listen, now that people have digested this movie, have seen it,
01:01what do you feel like the reaction is about the ending?
01:05Because this movie takes so many twists and turns that people aren't expecting.
01:09So when you read that script for the first time and found out what happened,
01:13so what was your reaction?
01:15Yeah, it feels weird to be able to talk about this stuff.
01:17Right?
01:18I just loved it because it was yet another twist.
01:22And talking to my friends and family and people, just people who have seen it,
01:26they don't really know where it's going.
01:27You know, what Oz did, I think, brilliantly was he kind of took shades and textures
01:32of different films we know, Silence of the Lambs and many other ones.
01:35But he really, in addition to that, created his own special thing.
01:39So people don't really know where it's going.
01:42And it's a surprise.
01:43And that final scene is yet another surprise that I loved.
01:47Do you feel like the ending is still open to interpretation?
01:49Oh, 100%.
01:50What's your interpretation?
01:51By, you know, it's very intentional.
01:54By design.
01:55It's very intentional.
01:56What's your interpretation of the ending, then, I have to ask?
01:58Well, you know, I think the reason people say that this movie is unsettling
02:02is because the message in my interpretation is evil exists and evil persists.
02:08So does good.
02:10This is a classic battle of good and evil.
02:12Michael Monroe's character being the good, of course, and Nick Cage being the evil.
02:16But it's very clear at the end, the final moment, that evil does persist.
02:21Do you feel like it leaves it open for a sequel?
02:23Oh, yeah.
02:24Oh, yeah.
02:25Somebody had this in front of my head, all these ideas for a sequel.
02:28Say, oh, but you're dead.
02:29I said, but am I?
02:30But right, yeah.
02:31I guess it was.
02:32Yeah.
02:33Well, like you said, it's open to interpretation.
02:34It's open to interpretation.
02:35So we don't know if you, right?
02:36And my son was like, yeah.
02:37And I shot the shoulder.
02:39We don't know.
02:40We don't know.
02:41We don't know.
