00:00Hi, I'm Adam O'Brien and I'm the Artistic Coordinator at the Dyer Theatre Company
00:04and we operate out of The Forge in Gwynnville and that's the Illawarra's
00:08most accessible professional independent arts collective. Now I'm excited to talk
00:13to you about our upcoming project, the Dyer Theatre Company Radio Variety Hour
00:16and this is a project where we take existing radio plays from Orson Welles
00:20back catalogue and we perform them live to an audience that's been blindfolded.
00:24Now the hook is that the audience is fully immersed so we surround the
00:28audience with roaming speakers and old-school foley effects like whip cracks
00:32and slapping boards and gunshots, the occasional water mist as well. So it's a
00:36lot of fun and it activates something that we're really interested in which is
00:39creating independent work. While I've got you, I want you to really think about as
00:44you before you come and see our show, the state of the play in the Illawarra
00:47because we have such a rich community of professional independent artists but not
00:51a lot of places where they can create their own work. So why don't you come
00:54down on the 20th and 21st, help us raise some funds to get us to the Anywhere
00:58Festival Fringe in Brisbane and we can have a chat about what is the state of
01:02the arts in the Illawarra. Super excited to see you there.
