MCMC to provide guidelines on potential Maxis and U Mobile merger, says Fahmi

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will provide guidelines to Maxis Bhd and U Mobile should the two telecommunications companies agree to merge, said Fahmi Fadzil.   When asked about the potential merger on Tuesday (July 17) , the Communications Minister clarified that the same procedures and processes used for the Celcom-Digi merger would apply to Maxis and U Mobile, adding that the ministry would not intervene, as Maxis' proposal is a commercial decision. 00:55to ensure a healthy competition in the telecommunications industry.

01:15that there is no aspect of dominance,

01:20or a party that dominates the entire sector.

01:25So we need to ensure that the competition exists and is healthy.

01:31This is the priority for MCMC.
