00:00Hello everyone, wagon wheels, the original wagon wheels.
00:07So I'm hoping they taste like they did back when I was young.
00:13I used to eat wagon wheels.
00:14I liked wagon wheels.
00:15I would go to the corner store and I think they were like 50 cents like chocolate bars
00:19were or maybe they were even a quarter.
00:21I can't remember now.
00:22There were penny candies you put in the machine, candy would come out and all sorts of stuff
00:27like Skittles and Smarties and then of course they had like all sorts of like chocolate
00:33bars.
00:34But this one here, I ate fairly often.
00:37I would ride my bike to the corner store.
00:40I would get, I would get it.
00:41I would eat it.
00:42I'd be all happy.
00:43I'd probably even, I think I actually used to have root beer with this.
00:47So I didn't realize dare actually came out with this dare, if I'm saying it right.
00:53And I'm like, I dare you to eat wagon wheels.
00:56I was like, yeah, well, maybe there's a reason why they dare you to eat wagon wheels.
01:00But I never knew that dare actually did wagon wheels.
01:04But let's see.
01:05The main ingredient is sugar.
01:06Well, when you're older, sugar is not really a good thing to have.
01:11Main ingredient.
01:12That means there's a lot of sugar in this.
01:14Geez, it's probably better than having coffee.
01:16You'd have a big sugar rush or get this in the afternoon.
01:20And some words I cannot, chocolate coating, palm, corn oil, cocoa salt, wheat powder,
01:28corn starch, salt, wheat, gluten, baking soda, and I can't even pronounce half these words.
01:36And I have a pronunciation problem.
01:38And this here, I don't even think, I don't even know how they come up with words like
01:42this.
01:43And maybe I can read the French.
01:44No, you're kidding me.
01:45I can't even read the French.
01:47Dare Foods Limited.
01:49Cambridge, Canada.
01:52Family owned.
01:53Oh, it's still family owned.
01:54I did know that Dare was family owned, but I thought they, you know, they bought it to
01:58a bigger company.
02:00So this actually might taste like wagon wheels when I was young.
02:03Well, I'll find out in a minute.
02:04Whereas the, for over 125 years, our family owned business has held itself to a higher
02:11standard.
02:13We are committed to giving you the products you want and using the very best ingredients
02:18to make them because to our family, made better is just a claim.
02:24It's our promise.
02:25So if this tastes like when I'm young, I'm going to get some memories far back.
02:30They say taste can bring back memories.
02:32Music can bring back memories.
02:34Even a place.
02:35So let's see.
02:36Oh, wait, before I do that, let me see all the fat.
02:40Calories are only 150.
02:41To be honest with you, I thought the calories would be higher.
02:43So that's actually not too bad.
02:46Fat is 7%, trans fat is 21, fiber is 4, sugar is only 15% where they say the main ingredient
02:54is sugar.
02:55I would assume the sugar intake would be higher.
02:57So I don't assume they're lying to you, but I don't know now.
03:02Cholesterol 0, sodium 2%, potassium 1%, calcium 1%, and iron 6%.
03:10Let's open this up.
03:17You know what?
03:18When you're a kid, though, everything looks bigger.
03:21So honestly, to me, these looked bigger.
03:23These looked like that big when I was a kid.
03:26But maybe because I haven't had them in a long time, they just made them smaller or
03:32they are ripping you off.
03:34And because I remember you used to get 12 in a pack.
03:38I'm remembering that now when my mom used to buy them.
03:40I used to just go to the corner store and buy them and you can get them like this.
03:44They were wrapped up like this.
03:45I think they were wrapped up in paper, though, when I remember.
03:48Let's just give this a taste, shall we?
03:59They smell like wagon wheels that I had when I was young.
04:03They actually smell like them.
04:05Ooh.
04:10I remember more cream and I remember them being bigger.
04:16Memories are a funny thing.
04:18I just remember going to the store.
04:20But now I remember my mom used to buy packages and I'm sure they were 12 in a pack.
04:24Now they're only 9.
04:26Let's look at that.
04:38No.
04:42No, they don't taste the same.
04:44I think the cream is different.
05:00Well, maybe not.
05:01You know what?
05:06I'm just having flashes of going to candy stores.
05:09I used to have little benches and soda that they would make and floats that they put ice cream in.
05:16All that's coming back to me.
05:19And an older man giving us free candy.
05:33Memories are a funny thing, though.
05:35When you get older, you have more memories to remember.
05:39So in a lot of ways you have to pick and choose what to remember.
05:42That's why they say taste and smell and that bring back older memories.
05:47Now I'm remembering my mom did buy these and they were 12 pack.
05:55Hmm.
06:04And this is peanut free.
06:06It's peanut free.
06:07It says so on there.
06:08I didn't notice that before.
06:09Peanut free.
06:13Yeah, wagon wheels.
06:15Brought back some old memories back in the day.
06:23All right, everyone.
06:24I would give this, even so I'm not quite sure it's the exact recipe.
06:34Because your taste buds do change over the years.
06:37Smell the same, though.
06:38I give this a 7 out of 10.
06:41I enjoy them.
06:42I would have this with a coffee or tea.
06:44And it's much cheaper to go out and buy something like this than go and get a donut at Tim Hortons or something.
06:50You get a donut at Tim Hortons, you're paying $2.
06:52You might as well pay.
06:53I bought this at Dollarama for $3.
06:56And this would give me nine days with coffee or tea.
07:00So I highly recommend checking out wagon wheels, especially if you ate them when you're young.
07:04Even if you didn't eat them, they are still family-operated.
07:07And it's always good to give family-operated business more money.
07:11Bye for now, everyone.
07:12Have an incredible day.
07:13And thank you for watching.
07:14And watch out my other shows and much more.
07:16I got Ribfest, Toronto Tours, and much more.
07:19Thank you again for watching.
07:20Bye for now, everyone.
