00:00So the pride and joy of the bus is our espresso machine. So this was a band
00:14investment. We all love drinking coffee and so you know sometimes you end up in
00:20a city where like there's just not a great coffee shop close by or you know
00:26it's the good coffee shop is closed that day or something and you're like well I
00:30need some good coffee and we're really picky about our coffee so we were like
00:33well hey let's buy an espresso machine. This is the Breville Barista Express and
00:37we've been bringing it on every tour for the last few years and it's to the point
00:43now we're like everybody knows how to make espresso drinks like everybody on
00:47this bus is basically a qualified barista at this point and we always have
00:53like fancy coffees. Right now we're working on this one actually which was
00:58given to me by my friend Eric at One Line Coffee Columbus Ohio shout out Eric
01:02shout out One Line Coffee and this is like a crazy coffee this is a Colombian
01:06coffee it's a koji natural it's like some kind of crazy weird processing
01:13method where they use like rice to like kick-start the fermentation process on
01:17the coffee so it smells really wild. The flavor notes on this are red
01:22sangria, watermelon Jolly Rancher, granadilla, and apple so like crazy flavor
01:29notes for a coffee you know. I wish you guys could smell this. That's what we got in the
01:35hopper right now and I'd love to make you a latte or a cappuccino. Is that all right?
01:41Let's get on it.
01:45Okay we're always going to use a scale. You got to measure your, see this is
01:53people don't understand this making coffee is serious business. You got to
01:57weigh out your dose.
02:05I'm going to turn our scale on.
02:08Great. Let's tear it out. Let's grind some coffee into there.
02:32Sounds like a good grind. It sounds like a really nice grind. I love the sound of that.
02:36Let's see how much this is. That's a little much so what I'm going to do is, well, I'm going to take just a little bit out.
02:48I have about 20 grams so we're going to do about 19. 19.1 is fine. Okay so we have our ground coffee in there.
02:59Look how pretty that looks. Now you'll notice there's some clumps in there okay.
03:02We're going to take this little tool. This is called a WDT tool or a Weiss
03:06distribution tool. We're going to just poke it in there and stir it around a
03:11little bit. That's going to de-clump the coffee to ensure a nice even extraction.
03:15That's what it stands for? Yes. What did you say? Weiss distribution tool. Wow I
03:20did not know that. See, I'm teaching people. Okay so now we've got all the clumps
03:26taken care of. Now it's time to tamp this coffee down. Use the tamper. Just a
03:34nice firm tamp. Just want to tamp it a little bit. Smooth it out. A couple
03:40little spins and then you're going to take this off. We've got to clean that up okay.
03:48You don't want that to hit your screen so I'm going to just use my finger and pull
03:53that around here. Clean that all off. Get a nice close-up shot. Get a nice polish
03:57there. Get a nice close-up shot. So that should. Let's get that out of there. That looks good.
04:02Okay now we're just going to run a little bit of water through the group
04:06head to ensure that we're getting nice fresh clean water out of there. Okay now
04:11we're going to lock this in. Put our scale here. Let me just grab you a cup
04:18for your friend. Put that there. I'm going to tear that down. We're going to pull an espresso shot.
04:41Way too fast.
04:45That'll work.
04:49That's not bad.
04:55Look at that. Nice delicious crema.
05:02Take our puck out. Rinse it off for the next person. This is good etiquette. This is
05:10good espresso machine etiquette. So that the next person has a nice clean portafilter
05:16to work with. Now we're going to get our, remember barista series oat milk? Very
05:20important.
05:26If Calafia wants to like sponsor us and get us some, I mean look at this.
05:34We keep it. So if Calafia wants to be our official supplier of oat milk on
05:42tour, we would happily accept that offer.
05:49Okay now we're going to get our steamer going.
06:12All right, we're in business.
06:27Aerate this milk really nice by just barely dunking the tip into the milk.
06:33Aerate it just a little bit and then eventually you want this spinning action.
06:38You want to create like a vortex in this milk and that's how you're going to get
06:44really good cappuccino foam.
07:08Okay, got a nice steam on that milk. Now you always got to clean your steaming
07:27wand. Very important. You don't want to leave a dirty steaming wand. That is a no-no.
07:34Get that nice and clean. Wipe that up a little bit.
