00:25Vice President and Outgoing DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte formally handed over the leadership of the Education Department to Incoming DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara.
00:36At the ceremony, the Vice President pointed out the achievements of DepEd under his leadership,
00:43including the implementation of a solid agenda and curriculum for grades 1 to 10.
00:48She also addressed the needs of teachers, such as leaving their admin tasks.
00:54But VP Sara admitted that due to her short time in the Department, she had some work to do.
01:00There are steps that we did not finish, such as a solid center, solid portal, DepEd, digital education,
01:09overtime pay for teachers, a revised senior high school curriculum,
01:14universal school-based feeding program for kindergarten learners, calamity fund for teaching and non-teaching personnel,
01:23and an HMO, or health insurance, for teaching and non-teaching personnel.
01:30I would like to pass this on to our next Secretary of Education.
01:36VP Sara also thanked her DepEd colleagues and recognized the sacrifices of the teachers.
01:42She called on all DepEd colleagues to support her new leadership.
01:46I hope that your acceptance of me here in the Department of Education when I arrived in July 2022
01:57will be the same as the warm acceptance and love that you show to Secretary Sonny Angara.
02:06DepEd Incoming Secretary Senator Sonny Angara accepted the new challenge
02:12and thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. for his trust in him.
02:17According to Angara, he will start with what DepEd has already started with VP Sara's leadership.
02:22Let us do everything to commit to the changes and reforms that will be implemented to the goals of a new Philippines.
02:30I would like to introduce Vice President Sara Z. Duterte, ma'am, and her outgoing officials.
02:39Because for the past two years, you have been the backbone of our students and teachers during these hard times.
02:47She also emphasized her accomplishments as a legislator and said that she will use these experiences to support DepEd.
02:54We want to hit the ground running and we want to learn from all of you here as we go along.
03:00Please help us in this journey as education is a pillar of our nation's progress.
03:05It is only through a nation's efforts that education will be improved and made more effective.
03:11I hope we can all work together.
03:13VP Sara was not able to avoid being asked what is the purpose of her deposition as a member of the Cabinet.
03:20There is a personal connection between the two of us and President Marcos, which stems from what we discussed before I was allowed to run for Vice President.
03:30She has a job and she has a country.
03:38Sorry, a country.
03:40She has a long story.
03:43She also denied that First Lady Liza Marcos had anything to do with her deposition.
03:48No, because First Lady Liza Marcos had nothing to do with President Marcos' deposition.
03:56I told her that she should sit down because she is not just one reason. She has many reasons.
04:06In front of her, VP Sara gave her a chance to improve her relationship with President Marcos Jr.
04:12VP Sara's resignation as a DepEd is effective from tomorrow and now that her time has not been cut, she will now focus on the programs of the Office of the Vice President.
