00:00Hello from Skegness Raceway, I'm Chrissie Redford from the Skegness Standard and there's a big event taking place at the weekend.
00:11Yeah it's the start of our summer season, Carnival day, massive event, caravan bangers, our own monster truck Big Thunder.
00:20And we've got a lot of charity events going on for Gracie May, pre-meeting, kids races, face painting, mascot race, trophies for all of those as well.
00:30So we've put a lot of effort into it, all the details are on our website with that.
00:35But it's a major start to our summer season, then we're on to every Tuesday, Thursday after that.
00:40And that takes place on Sunday, starting at 11 o'clock I understand?
00:44Yeah, the pre-meetings are 11, the actual race meeting is at 1 o'clock.
00:49Now I know there has been an event for Gracie May last year, how do you feel about hosting another event?
00:59Very privileged, the stock car community is very big and we're all trying to help each other in all ways.
01:07And Jessie's put a lot of effort into this and support on the charity to move it forward.
01:14We do two or three things a year, we did one last November, this one we're doing one in the summer.
01:20Just is a bit different in the summer, and then again one in November.
01:24And the weather forecast looks good, you're hoping for big crowds?
01:28Yeah, it'll be a big crowd, it's always a fantastic start to our summer.
01:33And as I said it's our very own monster truck Big Thunder, and you've got to see it to believe it.
01:38It not only crushes cars, but you see how high it can go in there.
01:41And until you see that happen, it's unbelievable.
01:45And then we've got the madness of a banger caravan race.
01:48If you've ever been stuck behind a caravan road, come and see and get six wrecked on Sunday.
01:53There are a lot of people that would love to see that I'm sure.
01:57Now also hoping for big crowds on Sunday is Jess, who is Gracie May's mum.
02:04Now tell me about your charity event.
02:0721st July, Skegness Raceway, 11 o'clock start.
02:11What a day it's going to be to be honest with you.
02:13We have got so much on, lots to do, kids go free.
02:17We've got everything from a charity mascot race, to stock car banger racing.
02:21Caravans, monster truck, to face painting, to blue night air start.
02:24I could label it on so much.
02:26But yeah, 21st July, Skegness Raceway, 11 o'clock start.
02:30What a day it'll be.
02:31That was a great advert for the event, but tell me why you're doing this?
02:36Gracie May obviously was our daughter, and unfortunately she passed away at the age of 10 months due to children's heart disease.
02:42Something that basically we want to spread a lot of awareness about.
02:46Gracie unfortunately had this disease obviously when she was with us all the time, but we only found out when she was born.
02:52And after a long hard battle, unfortunately she passed away with it.
02:56And we just want to show people that they are two sides to every story.
02:59Normally people with children's heart disease live on to live healthy, normal, happy lives.
03:05And unfortunately Gracie was the one who didn't.
03:07So we just want to spread as much awareness as we can, just to go to show that obviously children's heart disease is real.
03:13And the amazing charity that we're supporting helped us out so, so, so much with everything.
03:19With accommodation, food vouchers, fuel vouchers, you name it.
03:23And what a way to give back.
03:25Well, it certainly sounds a worthwhile cause and lots of fun too.
03:31Absolutely, yeah. Jordan's going to be racing as well in his 1600 Banger as well.
03:35And yeah, hopefully, fingers crossed, lots of cars turn up, lots of people turn up and it'll be a really good day.
03:41Gracie May's parents are also hoping spectators will make it a colourful day in their daughter's memory by wearing pink.
