00:00Let's get some data on the two low-pressure areas in the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
00:05We'll talk to the Assistant Weather Services Chief, Chris Perez.
00:09Good morning and welcome to Balitang Hali.
00:12Good morning, Connie, and to all our viewers.
00:16Sir, how likely is it that these two low-pressure areas will explode?
00:20So Connie, for our countrymen,
00:23we are currently monitoring two low-pressure areas.
00:27So let's start with the east or north part of the Salapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
00:34This is towards the West Philippine Sea.
00:37And even though the chance of an earthquake is medium,
00:39meaning within 24 to 48 hours, it's possible for an earthquake to occur,
00:43we're expecting it to move away from our landmass.
00:46It will continue to move north towards the West Philippine Sea
00:50and possibly towards the Vietnam Area.
00:53However, it can still affect some parts of our country,
00:57like Northern Palawan and Occidental Mindoro.
01:00Meanwhile, one of the low-pressure areas,
01:03which is in the east of Eastern Visayas,
01:05the chance of an earthquake is also medium.
01:07Meaning within the next 24 to 48 hours,
01:09it can be a tropical depression or an earthquake.
01:13And so far, it hasn't had a direct effect on any part of our country.
01:17But in the coming days,
01:18the projection of this earthquake
01:20or this earthquake in the east of Eastern Visayas
01:24is possible to move here in the eastern seaboard of Luzon.
01:29Meaning it will move near the eastern part of the Luzon area.
01:35We haven't seen a landfall yet,
01:36but we'll give an update from time to time, Connie,
01:39when there's a change in our expected movement,
01:42magnitude, and areas that will be affected
01:44by this nearer low-pressure area here in our country.
01:47So for now, if there are areas that will be affected,
01:51can we say that it's just for now?
01:54What we can see here in the west Philippine Sea,
01:58as we mentioned earlier,
02:00Occidental Mindoro and Northern Palawan
02:02can still experience earthquakes and a tropical depression.
02:06This is in the eastern part of Eastern Visayas.
02:09If this continues in our expected movement
02:12here in the eastern seaboard of Luzon,
02:14it's possible that these areas in the eastern part of Luzon
02:17will be affected.
02:18Bicol Region, Quezon Provinces,
02:21and Cagayan Valley Region in the coming days.
02:24But can these two earthquakes collide?
02:27Do they have an effect on each other?
02:29For now, Connie, these earthquakes are far from each other.
02:32And what we're seeing in this scenario,
02:34this nearer low-pressure area in the west Philippine Sea
02:37is continuing to move upstream,
02:39away from our country's landmass.
02:41So there's a small chance
02:43that these two low-pressure areas will collide.
02:46Alright.
02:47But for now,
02:48it's going to rain on Monday,
02:50and this weekend,
02:51there's going to be an outburst.
02:53What will be our weather forecast?
02:55Well, here in Metro Manila,
02:57on Monday,
02:58we're expecting it to be cloudy,
03:00there will be rain,
03:01and there will be thunderstorms and earthquakes
03:03compared to our countrymen.
03:04If there are outdoor activities planned in some parts of our country,
03:07we expect it to be cloudy
03:09and near low-pressure.
03:11And if there's a change in our expected scenario,
03:16this low-pressure area in the eastern part of our country,
03:19our weekly weather outlook
03:21in some parts of our country may also change.
03:23So to our countrymen,
03:25we're asking you to continue to monitor
03:27the weather updates of Pag-asa
03:29regarding these two bad times
03:31that we're watching,
03:32in the north and eastern parts of our country.
03:35Thank you very much for your updates to us,
03:37Sir Chris Perez of Pag-asa.
