00:00An anonymous donor has offered 10,000 ringgit for information leading to the arrest and
00:08prosecution of those responsible for a spate of dog poisonings in Penang.
00:14Over the past few weeks, more than 20 dogs, including a pet husky, were suspected of having
00:19been poisoned in Tanjong Bunga.
00:22Volunteer dog feeder Linda Yong urged anyone with leads on the matter to contact the International
00:28Aid for the Protection and Welfare of Animals, Penang, or the Penang Island City Council.
00:34At a candlelight vigil last night, she said the dogs were like family to her and they
00:39brought joy to those who knew and cared for them.
00:43Yong also called on the Penang government to establish a Department of Veterinary Services
00:47branch on the island.
00:50She said this is because residents found it difficult to transport animal carcasses to
00:54the DVS laboratory 30 kilometres away on the mainland.
00:59Meanwhile, Tanjong Bunga Residents' Association Deputy President Agnes James asked the Penang
01:03government to provide forensic evidence supporting their claim that no poison traces have been
01:09found.
