00:00Hi, my name is Toh. I'm a 70-year-old Malaysian who decided to study medicine at the age of 66.
00:11A Port Dickson-born grandfather could very well become the world's oldest medical graduate when he receives his degree this weekend.
00:20At 70 years old, Toh Hong King has garnered more than 30 years of work experience holding top regional leadership positions in Hewlett-Packard and Welsh Allen.
00:30But Toh said a chance encounter with two young Indian students during a trip to Kyrgyzstan inspired him to pursue a medical degree.
00:39After five years of hard work, the Hong Kong-based grandpa is set to become the oldest graduate at the Southwestern University in the Philippines.
00:48Going back to school in his late 60s was not an easy task.
00:53Toh said he had to pass a pre-med degree and the National Medical Admission Test, plus rounds of admission interviews.
01:01Toh said the toughest was when he had to complete a 12-month medical clerkship at a local hospital at the end of his five-year studies.
01:10However, moving forward, Toh said he has no plans to continue with his internship due to his age.
01:17He said he will go back to his comfort zone in sales and marketing.
01:20And if it doesn't work out, he will visit countries on his bucket list.
