00:00Did you come by yourself or you got the family with you?
00:06I'm by myself.
00:07I'm just going to watch my show and have a little break.
00:11What were you looking at?
00:13I watched Ghosts.
00:15Yeah, I was looking at that too.
00:16I really liked Ghosts.
00:17It was cute.
00:18They were real cute.
00:19All right, who goes first?
00:20You?
00:21Which camera are we looking at?
00:22It's more to each other.
00:23Oh, it's more to each other.
00:24You're just talking to each other.
00:25Even better.
00:26But you know, we're actors, right?
00:27So we're going to look at the camera.
00:28Okay, good.
00:29Thank you.
00:3085.
00:3185.
00:32This is a question for both of you.
00:41Oh, okay.
00:42What is the best advice you have ever received?
00:45Ooh.
00:46That's a good one.
00:47That is a good one.
00:48That is.
00:49I think it's probably from my mom who told me to always follow my passion.
00:56I know that sounds maybe a little generic, but I've always kept that with me.
01:02Because there's times when we think that we have to do something because it's the right thing to do work-wise or whatever.
01:10But the fact that she instilled that in us kids, I think we are all happy in our careers because of that.
01:18Oh, that's great.
01:19Yeah.
01:20You?
01:21Kara?
01:22Mine also comes from my mom.
01:23It was to—my mom just told me to always invest in my education.
01:28That's something that no one can ever take away from me.
01:32And she was a single mom of two kids, and she still went to college.
01:36So she was just—it was education, education.
01:38And I'm glad she did because even though I had dreams of acting, my training is what led me to where I am now.
01:46So I'm grateful that she drilled that even though I didn't see the point when I was younger.
01:50Oh, yeah.
01:51That's good.
01:52I'm going to ask both of you, but you should start first.
01:54Okay.
01:55What was your first acting job, and what did you learn from it that has stayed with you today?
02:00Oh, man.
02:02I'm going to say my first acting job was actually a gospel play that I had heard about just trying to get my name out there down in Atlanta.
02:18I got cast in this gospel play that a local woman was putting together, but I learned to always have a contract and always have things in writing.
02:28Oh, yes.
02:29Which I was the only one in the cast that asked for my pay and everything in writing.
02:34And when the play stopped making money—and we had weeks of performances, and when it stopped making money, a lot of the cast stopped being paid.
02:43But I was just like, hey, see this contract.
02:46I finally got my money, so yeah.
02:48Girl, there you go.
02:50That's a good thing.
02:51That's a good one.
02:52That's a good thing to learn.
02:54What about you, Wendell?
02:55Wow.
02:56My first acting job was in a Shakespeare play, and it was Winter's Tale.
03:03And the lesson I learned was always know what you're saying.
03:08Oh, yeah.
03:09Especially when it's Shakespeare.
03:11No sense whatsoever.
03:13And really learn—not just learn your lines, know what you're saying.
03:19Every leaven-weather tod, every tod has leaven-weather—I just did it like that.
03:25Every leaven-weather tod, every tod has leaven—I had no idea what I was saying.
03:31Right.
03:32And I realize now, in this moment, right now, I still don't know what the hell that line is.
03:42Perfect.
03:45Okay, I have a question.
03:46Oh, okay.
03:47For both of you, Carrie, you first.
03:50Who's your dream guest star?
03:54Y'all know who I'm going to say.
03:55Michael Emerson, my husband.
03:57Yes!
03:59I mean, come on.
04:00He needs to come and guest on our show, don't you think?
04:03Absolutely.
04:04I mean, bad guy, good guy, whatever.
04:06Yeah.
04:07Brilliant actor.
04:08Oh, that would be so fun.
04:09Yeah.
04:10Wow.
04:11I have a whole list—
04:12Oh, yeah, I'm sure.
04:13—of people.
04:14I have a whole list.
04:15Well, who's the first person that comes to mind?
04:17Actually, Jessica Chastain.
04:20Oh, that'd be great.
04:21Wow.
04:22Because I think she is like—she comes off as the sweetest, kindest—
04:25Can you make a call?
04:26—most loveliest woman in the world.
04:28I'll text her.
04:29Yeah, text her.
04:30Yeah.
04:31Let her know.
04:32Text.
04:33And so I'm thinking of all the beautiful people.
04:35Brad Pitt.
04:36Bring him on.
04:37Well, yeah.
04:39Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain.
04:41I'd like to see Elzbeth go against Brad Pitt.
04:44Brad Pitt, yeah.
04:45Oh, that would be epic.
04:46And Denzel Washington.
04:48Those are my three, my top three.
04:49That'd be amazing.
04:50Yeah.
04:51That's a good list.
04:52Yeah.
04:53And we're going to get all three.
04:54Let's dream big.
04:55Dream big.
04:56Yeah.
04:57Elzbeth returns October 17th, part of CBS Premier Week, on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
