00:00More than 100 heads of states are set to attend the opening ceremony with 300,000
00:05spectators lining the banks of the Seine. But they're not just ordinary
00:09spectators, each had to be invited and undergo security checks. While putting on
00:14a world first ceremony brings new challenges, as areas of central Paris
00:19locked down on Thursday the restrictions have been causing some confusion.
00:22A journalist tweeted this image of people stuck at closed checkpoints by
00:27the Seine. He says many were unaware that they had to pre-register for access.
00:31Well to help with that French news agency AFP has tweeted this map. If you
00:37want to access the grey area you need a digital pass, while the red zone allows
00:41pedestrians and cyclists access, but vehicles need pre-authorization. These
00:46Olympics are the biggest event that France has ever staged. Thousands of
00:50troops, many mobilized from Afghanistan, have been employed to Paris. Security is
00:56an international effort. The French Embassy in India put up this picture of
01:00the Indian canine team in Paris. Around 40 countries are sending police officers
01:06to support France. One of those is Qatar. Their armed vehicles have been seen
01:10outside some of Paris's most famous landmarks. And the two million
01:15international visitors have been told to stay vigilant. The United States is
01:19urging citizens to download this photo from its x-page and keep it stored on
01:24their phones whilst in France. It has the US Embassy and consulate details as
01:28well as numbers for the French emergency services.
