00:00I've prepared myself that most of the time, most of you will be quiet.
00:05Because today I'm going to share about why do we encounter storms and shipwrecks in our life.
00:11Are you ready for the word?
00:14Praise God! Hallelujah!
00:16You know what guys, as I was preparing for this message, I was really asking,
00:20Lord, are you sure this is the message that you want me to preach?
00:24Because at the end of the day, you will not get bash.
00:27I might.
00:29And then God said, go.
00:32No, He didn't do this. He just told me to go.
00:35So here am I, going to share the message for this afternoon.
00:39Hallelujah! Come on, let's get it on.
00:41Praise God! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
00:44Now, we all know, brothers and sisters, that God promised us a life that is filled with abundant blessings.
00:51And to live a life to the fullest.
00:54However, it is equally important to recognize that God also emphasizes the importance of precaution and preparedness,
01:02even before challenges arise.
01:05Because whether we like it or not, we are going to face storms and shipwrecks in our life.
01:12And no one is exempted about this.
01:14And let me tell you this truth, brothers and sisters.
01:19The presence of God in our life doesn't guarantee the absence of storms and shipwrecks.
01:26What I'm trying to say is that yes, we are going to face struggles.
01:29We are going to face challenges.
01:32But we can find always assurance that God will always be with us.
01:36Amen?
01:37The only problem is, when we encounter difficulties, the blame is always pointed out immediately to the enemy.
01:47And sometimes the enemy gets shocked.
01:49Huh? Why me?
01:51For example, you wake up one Sunday morning and you're not feeling well.
01:55Oh my, I'm not feeling well today.
01:57Please pray for me, brothers and sisters.
01:59The enemy is attacking me.
02:01And then the enemy says,
02:03Huh?
02:04You watched eight episodes of Queen of Tears last night until 4 a.m. in the morning,
02:09and now you blame me for not feeling well?
02:12And sometimes we experience something like this.
02:16I cannot breathe.
02:18My blood pressure is very high.
02:20It's getting very, very high.
02:21The enemy is attacking me again.
02:22Brothers and sisters, please pray for me.
02:24Hello?
02:25You've been eating lechon, trisipata, and bulalo, and you expect your BP to be normal?
02:30Here's the thing, brothers and sisters.
02:32Listen up. Here's the thing.
02:37Not all the storms and shipwrecks are caused by the enemy.
02:43Some are due to the consequences of our own actions.
02:48Because most of the time, we make decisions based on what we think is best for us,
02:53drawing from our own experiences,
02:55drawing from our own knowledge, from our own expertise,
02:58and all those kinds of stuff.
03:00And if we are not careful enough,
03:02these things could lead us to IKR attitude.
03:07You know what IKR stands for?
03:09I know, right?
03:11And that's the title of my message today.
03:13I know, right?
03:15I know, right?
03:16Which simply means we confidently assert on our own understanding.
03:25We confidently assert our own desires,
03:28which cause us sometimes to neglect and listen,
03:33to follow and follow the will of God in our life.
03:37And this is the main context of Acts chapter 27,
03:41when the well-trained, experienced, and I know right, centurion and ship's crew,
03:46together with Paul and the 276 prisoners,
03:50encountered not only storm, but also shipwreck.
03:54Let me give you a full background of the story.
03:56Before Acts chapter 27, Paul went to Jerusalem to basically visit the leaders in town,
04:02but the Sadducees and the Pharisees wrongly accused Paul of starting a riot,
04:06and even disrespecting the Jewish religion.
04:09So to cut the story short, Paul was sent in prison.
04:12And for almost two years of trials,
04:15the Jews couldn't find a single proof that could pin down Paul
04:20on the case that was filed against him.
04:22So this time Paul pleaded and said,
04:24Hey guys, since I'm a Roman citizen,
04:27and I cannot get a fair trial in Jerusalem, which is the stronghold of Jews,
04:32bring me to a higher court in Rome, Italy,
04:35and let Caesar judge me,
04:37where he can get a fair trial and possibly get acquitted from his case.
04:41So when it was decided, this is already in Acts chapter 27,
04:45are you still with me so far?
04:47This is already in Acts chapter 27.
04:49When it was decided, Paul, together with the 276 prisoners,
04:53was sent to Rome, Italy, by a ship.
04:57And along their voyage, they encountered a very strong storm
05:01that makes the ship uncontrollable.
05:05The ship's crew tried their best to dock in the nearby port
05:09in the shore of Crete in order to avoid the storm.
05:12But unfortunately, because of the strong headwind,
05:15instead of going to the shore,
05:17they were pushed even harder in the middle of the sea.
05:21And the ship's crew, the seafarers, tried their best to maneuver the ship.
05:24They used their maritime skills and their expertise
05:27to save the ship and the passengers,
05:29but to no avail because the situation becomes so uncontrollable
05:33that they themselves had given up.
05:36They were stormed for 14 days in the middle of the sea.
05:41And to make the situation worse,
05:43they never saw the sun for many, many days,
05:46which caused them to lose all their hope.
05:50As it says in Acts chapter 27, verse 20,
05:54when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days
05:57and the storms continued raging,
06:00we finally gave all hope of being saved.
