Bristol Answers: Do you think it should be up to the parents whether or not children attend school?

After a mum said paying a fine for taking her kids out of school during term time for a holiday was a ‘no brainier’ - what’s your opinion on parents who do this to save money? Do you think fines for parents are a good idea to encourage better attendance, or do they not work as a deterrent? Should it be up to the parents whether or not children attend school?
