DFA: PH to continue to assert rights after deal with China

00:00The Department of Foreign Affairs, or DFA, announced the country has pledged to continue
00:04to assert our rights following a new arrangement with China for resupplying Filipino troops
00:10on Ayugin Shoal in the West Philippine Sea.
00:13The DFA clarified the agreement will not alter the country's position or rights under the
00:18United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, or UNCLOS, in the Exclusive Economic
00:23Zone, or EEZ.
00:25This arrangement aims to de-escalate South China Sea tensions while maintaining peaceful
00:30management of disputes.
00:32The resupply missions will remain under Philippine control, with support from the U.S. under
00:37the Mutual Defense Treaty.
