Birmingham is a a vibrant retail hub, with brands from all over the world setting up shop here. I'm here today on the city streets to ask people what could be done to improve the shopping experience here and anything that they'd like to see more of here in the centre.

00:00Well, at the moment in Birmingham, it's a bit clogged up, I think, in different places
00:05and areas. Everyone's coming in for prices, for names, but half of us can't afford the
00:10names anyhow. And when you get the quality, it's not as good as quality as it's supposed
00:14to be. But I think so, I might be wrong, but that's the way I see it. Because I'm a person
00:18who likes shoes, dancing shoes, so I like a bit of tap dancing and a bit of this, so
00:22I like good quality. But now you can't get the quality which you want. It does not make
00:26sense to me, and I've been a dancer, that's why it's always bad, dressing up a bit more,
00:31being smart. But these days, you can't iron the trousers no more, that's how I think.
00:36It's like we're back in the 1950s.
00:39I think these days, a lot of the big stores have left and we're left with now little independent
00:51shops that are turned up, which I think they're better value and they make you feel a bit
00:57more useful as a customer, rather than just a number. So I don't mind coming into Birmingham
01:05occasionally to do a bit of shopping, but they're very useful if you're after something
01:11in particular.
01:12Oh yeah, so I come here because it's a better town than where I'm from, Redditch, so it's
01:19quite a small shopping centre, but I'll come here because there's a lot more to do here.
01:23And for shopping, I do a lot of the Zara here and the H&M, because it's much bigger and
01:26it's better than where I am. I mainly come here though for food and drinks, that's it
01:32really.
01:33I'd like to see more greenery, shorter queues, and probably more sitting down areas as well.
01:41Nah, because inflation has increased everything, everything's gone expensive. Like, I believe
01:47Birmingham, compared to London though, with the prices, everything's just too... Like,
01:52milk, I can't even buy milk for £1 anymore, it's like £2. It's crazy, it's too expensive.
