Ex Christian reading the Quran for the first time
Transcript
00:00Okay, so I'm an ex-Christian reading the Quran and I've noticed something in the
00:06second surah that is kind of cracking me up and I want to share it with you. So if
00:12anybody knows anything about Christians, they love to push their religion onto
00:17other people. My own mother was a very good example of this. She would stop
00:22people in the middle of the road and try to shame them into talking to her about
00:28Jesus and God. That was really always super uncomfortable to me because let
00:34people make their own choices about what they want to believe, right? Well, here's
00:38the kicker. I'm reading the second surah and I come across a few verses that just
00:42kind of hit different and I want to read them to you. I wrote them down because it
00:46just made me stop for a second. I'm going to read them in order as they appeared
00:51in the surah. Surah 2, verse 113. It says, Jews say Christians have no ground
00:57whatsoever to stand on and Christians say the Jews have no ground whatsoever
01:00to stand on, though they both read the same scripture. God will judge between
01:04them concerning their differences. And the next is surah 2, verse 120. Jews and
01:10Christians will never be pleased with you unless you follow their ways. God's
01:14guidance is the only true guidance. And then surah 2, verse 139 says, Say, how can you
01:21argue with us about God when he is our Lord and your Lord? Our deeds belong to
01:27us and yours to you. That just kind of hit me as a like, mind your own business.
01:32This is a personal relationship. Let them worship how they want to worship. Just so
01:37wild to me. I'm just like, they give more religious autonomy to the people in
01:46their religion unlike Christians. I don't know, that was just a really cool
01:53part and I wanted to share it because it goes against everything that I assumed
01:57which that's my fault.
