00:00We talked a lot coming into the week about John Rom and you know, some of the, the, the, the breaks he had this year, his performance of the masters, his miscut, the PGA were very much in his control, the U S open, you know, having to withdraw because of that foot injury out of his control, but he came into this week and, and really needed a good result or, you know, and, or a win to feel like in some ways it validated his standard of performance.
00:27And I loved the way he sort of battled on the weekend and he ends up with a top 10 finished T seven, one under for the tournament, three under on Sunday, it was, you know, four under a one point on Sunday and, and had a, had, you know, one of the rounds of the day going early on.
00:42You know, obviously he's got the live team championship left to live individual championship.
00:47Do you think, you know, what do you think is going on in Rom's head and just his, his, along with his team coming out of a top 10, a major that's a really, really good performance.
00:56But we know what John Rom standards are.
00:59Yeah, no, this was a really, really promising week for John.
01:03I didn't think he had his best stuff at all on Thursday.
01:06And I couldn't believe when, you know, it really, even after Friday as well, when I saw where he was at the leaderboard or where he stood like kind of near par, I was like, man, this guy really grinded his ass off to be in this position.
01:19So I, I commend him for the effort that he, uh, put forth this week because we, yes, we, we've been critical of his major performances and, and rightfully so, you know, you know, a U S open, um, obviously, you know, the, the, uh, the foot issue, which is, you know, caught us all off guard.
01:37Uh, but we're, we do not judge people that have toe injuries.
01:40That is something that we have a hard stance on, on this podcast, hard, hard stance, but the PGA championship was a shock and he just looked all out of sorts.
01:49Um, very, and that was one where you could point to, it's like, okay, this was, this was really poor form.
01:57And I don't know if he had, uh, just bad toast or bad breakfast every morning or, uh, his body wasn't right.
02:04Or just, you know, for the first time, John Rob showed up to a golf course and his normally, uh, efficient golf game just became inefficient, which is like everyone else.
02:15And like, like so many other mortals on the tour, um, you know, he had just shown up to PGA with nothing, which was so unusual to see him so off.
02:25So it was fair for us to judge.
02:27It's like, is he getting enough reps on the live golf tour, um, to be showing up to majors, um, in form.
02:35And that was a fair argument.
02:38And we've been critical of him, uh, because we haven't gotten to see, you know, one, a major championship where it felt like, you know,
02:45Ron was in the mix and this one really felt that way.
02:48It felt like if the weather conditions held up, like they were this morning, John Rom is blitzing it incredibly difficult golf course.
02:57He's playing in, in some of the heavier winds of the front night starts out birdie, birdie birdie.
03:01You're like, hell yeah, that's sick.
03:03I, this is the John Rom, um, that we all love to see.
03:07So I think this was a really positive week for John Rom and for all the, for the live bots that say we were not, you know,
03:16we're not supportive of, of, of players that have left the tour.
03:20I like John Rom.
03:21I like cheering for him.
03:22I wish he was still playing on the tour, but, um, it's, it's our job, uh, to be critical of anybody that went to the live golf tour and what their major performances are versus when they were still playing the tour.
03:37And so this was a good week for John.
03:40Um, it's going to be a long time till Augusta to where we really can get to judgment again and all, you know, still follow how he plays on the live golf tour.
03:49And he's going to have to do, you know, something that like Joaquin Neiman has done, which is, you know, shoot some really low scores when, you know, two to three or four times on that tour.
04:00Not to say that he's not having a great year.
04:02He is, he's finished top 10 every single time he's teed it up, but he hasn't won.
04:06So I think winning on that tour, uh, will be something that I'll be looking out for John Rom, but, um, overall positive week for him, in my opinion.
