00:00Walking into Beyoncé's freedom, Vice President Kamala Harris is poised to make history once
00:09again as the first woman of color set to wind up on top of the Democratic ticket.
00:22As Kamala Harris now shifts her attention to securing the nomination for the Democratic
00:26Party, she'll soon need to land on a vice presidential candidate.
00:30Some of the names during the rounds include the governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper,
00:35as well as former astronaut Mark Kelly, who's now a senator from Arizona.
00:40The two options are really to pick somebody from a, quote unquote, purple state, right,
00:45a swing state.
00:46So that would be Michigan, Pennsylvania, or else a Democratic governor in an otherwise
00:53red state.
00:54Somebody who's figured out how to speak to that middle group of voters who this election
00:59is going to come down to.
01:01The governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, has also emerged as one of the frontrunners
01:05for the job, and on Monday he didn't rule out his interest.
01:09Are you interested in the job?
01:11I'm focused on doing my job.
01:13We focus on getting shit done for the good people of Pennsylvania.
01:17While the Democratic convention doesn't start until the 19th of August, certain states have
01:22tighter deadlines for certifying which candidates are on the ballot.
01:26It means Kamala Harris won't have a whole lot of time to vet her running mate.
