00:00other pitching news. James Paxton, the veteran lefty for
00:06the Dodgers DFA yesterday, meaning he was released an
00:11interesting stat line this year for Paxton eight and two. So
00:14when he was on the bump, the Dodgers who are one of the best
00:16teams in baseball would win games but an ERA above four.
00:21What does DFA Paxton mean? Does it mean the Dodgers are
00:26opening up some spots on the roster to add in some familiar
00:29faces? Yeah, well, they could have done that next week. So
00:34there was really no need to do it now if that was the case. I
00:36think they just simply looked at it and I guess a lot of the
00:40advanced metrics came out once he was DFA that showed that
00:42he's been one of the luckiest pitchers in baseball this
00:45season. They have scored a lot of runs for him and he's
00:48stranded a lot of runners which generally means you're lucky in
00:51baseball. Now, Paxton will latch on with another team. He is
00:55nowhere near the pitcher that he used to be as the strikeout
00:57numbers would indicate. I don't believe his career is over but
01:01I think the Dodgers simply put wanted more swing and miss in
01:04that rotation. So whether they add someone or not, I think
01:07it's sort of irrelevant. They're just kind of selling
01:10high on if you can say that even on Paxton's season.
