SussexWorld journalists go on a tour of the some of the most scenic villages the area has to offer.
Transcript
00:00When the Daily Telegraph published its list of the top ten prettiest villages
00:05in Sussex, all of us here at Sussex World realised we'd be pretty remiss if we
00:09didn't have our own say. So we pulled together, we drew on several lifetimes
00:14worth of experience, both professional and personal, living and working in these
00:19beautiful communities to find some of our favourites. And this is what we
00:23sort of narrowed it all down to, because the South really does have it all.
00:27You know, we've got beautiful communities nestled in the rolling hills of the
00:30South Downs, and we've got gorgeous little hamlets sort of situated right on
00:36the coast, and some of the best beaches in the entire country. So there was a lot
00:39to pick from, and it was a really, really hard job. But we did it, and who would we
00:43be if we didn't? So sit down, have a cup of tea, and maybe find out if there's
00:48somewhere you haven't seen yet, somewhere you haven't visited, somewhere that might
00:51be worth looking into for a trip later this summer. There's a village store,
01:03and a very popular pub.
01:21It really is very, very pretty, isn't it?
01:38And there's footpaths that take you out into the countryside.
01:55Take a walk over Amelie Wildbrooks. Absolutely beautiful.
02:08The church is 12th century.
02:38And there's a handy tea room.
03:38It's a real holdy-woldy village.
04:08There's plenty of walks you can do in Slyndon.
04:38It's lovely to sit by the village pond.
06:38It's a lovely place to sit down and have a cup of tea.
07:08It's a lovely place to sit down and have a cup of tea.
07:19Hold the tiger, hold the tiger, hold the tiger.
08:20So we've just come through a gate into this open field, and you can see we've got ahead of us a
08:26wonderful walk that is going to take us up the river. Isn't that gorgeous? We've reached the
08:32River Ada, and we're going to be following it for a reasonable way. You need to stay with the river
08:38on your right hand side and follow the riverbank. So many swans, look at them all.
08:47It's a beautiful day for walking up the river. I'm not quite sure I expected to meet this cow,
08:56who seems quite interested in me. I might go down the hill. The views here are absolutely wonderful.
09:08We've just climbed over a stile, and now I'm back on grass. We're still following the riverbank.
09:16At low tide, you can see the remains of an old quarry here, and apparently a tractor was
09:24This old railway bridge is part of the Downslink. You might be lucky and spot some grey heron and
09:33whiter grets in the marsh here. So there you have it, this is the Downslink, and
09:41it's a beautiful place to be. It's a beautiful place to be. It's a beautiful place to be,
09:46and it's a beautiful place to be. It's a beautiful place to be, and it's a beautiful place to be.
09:53So there you have it, some of the prettiest places in Sussex from some of the people who know it and love it best.
10:00There's plenty of options there. Take a trip through the South Downs and settle up with a pint in a cozy pub
10:07right in the heart of the countryside, or cozy up with some fish and chips on one of the prettiest
10:12beaches in the country. The choice is yours and there's plenty to pick from. Thank you so much
10:18for watching. We've been the Sussex World team and it's been a real pleasure
10:22listing some of our favourite villages for you.
