Late blues icon John Mayall liked to party in 'The Brain Damaged Club'

The blues and rock worlds are in shock following the news that pioneering guitarist John Mayall has died at the age of 90.

00:47Yeah, it was a very quick, very short period of my life actually, but of course like everything

01:01Is it true that you once drank 37 vodka screwdrivers, John?

01:05I'm sure it's quite possible, yes.

01:10And do you know why you started, why you began drinking at all?

01:16I don't really know.

01:17I think it was just a thing to do, that everybody was doing something like that.

01:24This was a phase in my life that I went through.

01:26I guess it was not for a very long time, maybe five years at the top, so I'm measuring shorter

01:33than that, but it was a very short period of my life.
