00:00I think we have to start here, and that is we throw some bouquets to Xander Schaafle,
00:06who we know what the narrative was before this year or going into this year.
00:12Xander hadn't won a major. Is he ever going to win a major? Is he ever going to get it done?
00:16What he has done now this year, winning not one but two, and we put the names up here on the
00:20screen the other day, Keith, that is rarefied air. Guys that win two majors in the same season.
00:27Xander Schaafle, and it could be a hell of a competition for player of the year
00:31between him and Scottie, but what a major season for Xander.
00:36I mean, good afternoon on a golf Wednesday, but let's just start right there.
00:40He won two tournaments that have 156 guys in them and have a cut, right? I mean, I know some
00:47other people have six wins on tour, but he took two of the biggest four down, and you've got to
00:52give him all the credit in the world, and we've discussed this a couple times before. Last fall
00:56after Rome, there was a lot of criticism about Xander and his year and never really closing the
01:01door. His dad took a step back. Xander took a leadership role in his life, brought on Chris
01:06Como, the coach, and he has played absolutely wonderful this year, and to all credit to him
01:12for making those types of leadership decisions, they have paid off inside his camp, and now this
01:17guy, you know, he could be player of the year. He very well could, and I'm usually, and this is
01:23like a debate that we could do this probably for an hour, I always side with majors, and I know a
01:28lot of people do. Two majors is pretty big, and I know a lot of people don't quote-unquote care
01:34about the tour championship. Guys like us do, and I think that that's something that when we get to
01:40that in a few weeks could tip the scales for a lot of people between Scottie and Xander because
01:45they're going to be miles ahead of everyone else with the strokes and whatnot in terms of those
01:50FedExCup points, so it's going to be interesting to see when we get to Eastlake which one of those
01:55guys ends up taking that down because neither of them have won that before, right, Keith? I don't
01:58think either has won the FedExCup before, right? Neither has won the FedExCup before, but Xander
02:03has won before at Eastlake, and if it comes down to Eastlake, that's the last guy I'd want to take
02:08on. In seven starts down there in Atlanta, he's got one win and he's got like six top sevens. I mean,
02:14the guy is, like, that's his best golf course to play on any of them on the PGA Tour, so if it
02:20comes down to that, good luck to Scottie. It's going to be another year of him coming in second.
