00:00What's the significance of today and how much it means to you?
00:03I think for everybody involved in Irish cricket it's obviously a huge day.
00:07Specifically in the NCU, I suppose you think of all those people, the volunteers down through the years who have put in so much time and effort
00:16in bringing the players through and getting the game to where it is nowadays.
00:21It's a magnificent day all around.
00:24A lot of work has gone into getting this moment hasn't it?
00:27Yeah, I suppose as somebody who came through the transition from the amateur game into the professional game,
00:34the work behind the scenes, the belief, going back 15-20 years, the belief to believe that we could someday play test cricket.
00:44It started with Eddie Burrell, the players jumped on the back of his every word.
00:49There were significant wins along the way, you do start to believe.
00:54We felt invincible for a period of time in associate cricket.
00:58It's all culminated both on and off the field with today.
01:02Has this been a dream of yours for a while, this sort of rain test cricket here?
01:05Yeah, when I arrived this morning I thought to myself this is a day I'd love to be out there.
01:10But pleased to have played a small part in the journey and delighted to see the boys out there in whites.
01:17It's a massive opportunity for them as well isn't it? One they can really seize over the next five days.
01:21Having had our first victory in test cricket away against Afghanistan, to back it up with a win here would be an outstanding achievement.
01:30It's going to take five days of hard work and given the fact that they're 45 for none, we're going to have to dig deep here over the next few days.
