I visited the most and least expensive roads in Bamber Bridge
Transcript
00:00Okay so here I am in Montgomery Street in Bamber Bridge where according to the latest
00:10data there have been three houses that have sold in the past five years for an average
00:15of just over £82,000. Now if you look behind me there actually aren't that many houses
00:21on here, it's only about a dozen or so so that's quite a high proportion of sales. Now
00:27these houses they would have been built around the turn of the 20th century that's you know
00:331900 that kind of period for the mill workers who used to work on Wesley Street Mill. Now
00:40across from here is some within the last 10 years Wesley Street Mill has been taken down
00:45and we've got some brand new affordable homes, starter up homes that look really nice. You're
00:52also a five minute walk from the railway station, you're straight on the motorway,
00:58you've got Morrisons, you've got a subway, you've got Sainsbury's just up the road. This
01:03place is perfect for commuters and it's also great for convenience for local schools. I've
01:08got to say that my first house was in Bamber Bridge, I bought it in 2010 down Brown Edge
01:15Lane and you know what it was a perfect starter home. So if you're looking for something that's
01:21small and you know maybe that you're on your own or you've just got one child or you're maybe
01:27you're downsizing or you're looking for an investment then something that's just over
01:31£82,000 I'd say is great value. Okay here I am in Kellett Lane which is the most expensive road
01:38in the true Bamber Bridge postcode area and in the past five years there's been six sales down
01:44this road, just under £500,000 average, £497,500. Now you might be able to hear the traffic in the
01:53background, this is a long and busy road and if you access it from one end you're right on the
01:59motorway and you've got to come through Walton Summit Industrial Estate, towards the other end
02:04is Brindle Lane which is more residential. It's a really curious mix of housing, it's an old road
02:15so you've got cottages and then to my right here we've got some I would say 1990s, late 80s, 90s
02:23mock Tudor style big detached houses. Over here we've got some more recent big detached houses
02:30and that's what's been selling recently for these higher prices, these larger family more executive
02:36houses. In comparison with Montgomery Street it is chalk and cheese, here it's a lot of detached
02:44houses, cottages, gritty housing stock, you've got private gardens, private driveways, you've
02:53got electric gates in some cases but you don't have the convenience of being able to walk
03:01necessarily to your local takeaway, to the library, to the local school,
03:06anything you do in here I'm going to guess you're going to have to drive.
