00:04Child abuse is a serious issue that is still a hot topic.

00:09The number of child abuse cases has increased from 2019 to 2024.

00:15The Minister of Child Protection, the Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, or PPPA,

00:20Nahar, authorized the increase in the number of child abuse cases.

00:45Since 2021, 14,517 cases have been reported of child abuse.

00:56Then, in 2023, the PPPA Ministry reported 24,158 cases.

01:04From January to June 2024, there were already 6,897 cases of child abuse.

01:13The type of child abuse cases is dominated by sexual violence.

01:23Based on the real-time data of the PPPA Symphony from January to July 23, 2024,

01:29at least 1,879 perpetrators of violence are lovers or friends of the victim.

01:34Some perpetrators are their own parents, as many as 1,407.

01:41Nahar said there are two factors that cause sexual violence against children,

01:46namely internal and external.

01:48The internal factor is related to the condition of vulnerability to someone or their family,

01:52disability, women, children, or other obstacles.

01:56There are also external factors affected by the economy, social, education, and information technology.

02:05The complaint of violence against children can not only be made to the Ministry of Women's Welfare and Child Protection.

02:11On a separate occasion, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission or KPAI received 893 complaints

02:18in connection with child protection in January to June 2024.

02:22KPAI Chairperson Jasra Putra said there were two major cases filed to the KPAI.

02:28First, family violence and alternative abuse such as divorce, child abuse, or child abuse.

02:35The second case is physical or psychological violence and sexual abuse.

02:42The Chairperson of the National Child Protection Commission, Lia Latifah, explained

02:46that the reason why the closest person is a perpetrator of violence is that the parents are still aware of the law.

02:54Lia stated that violence against children is often committed by young couples,

02:59for example, couples aged 25 to 35 years old.

03:05Lia argued that parents do not know that there are legal sanctions that are even much heavier

03:13In fact, according to Lia, the existing legal instruments are enough to give a deterrent effect to perpetrators of violence against children.

03:19She said, for example, sexual abuse can now be sentenced to life imprisonment or even death sentence.

03:29She argued that the obligation of parents is not only to give the right to educate or raise children,

03:34but more than that, parents must also pay attention and show love to their children.

03:39She said that children who do not get the attention of their parents will be easily influenced by social media.

03:44Without the attention of parents, children will look for a deterrent to social media.
