00:00Some of our countrymen in Tarlac City did not miss the job fair held by the Department of Migrant Workers
00:07where various jobs are held in Austria.
00:12This is the story of Bibian Manalo.
00:16Rachel Sagcala has been working as a pharmacist in a drugstore in Tarlac City for more than 20 years.
00:23Rachel has two children while she is working as a production operator in a pharmaceutical company in Manila.
00:32Her income is still not enough to cover her husband's income.
00:38That is why Rachel is also considering looking for a job abroad.
00:42It is still not enough, that is why I need to go abroad to have additional income.
00:47She did not miss the chance to apply when she found out that there is a job fair held by the Department of Migrant Workers in their area
00:54where jobs are held in other countries, especially in European countries.
01:00Rachel also included her experience in applying.
01:04I am thankful to the Department of Migrant Workers.
01:06It is a big help because like that, you will not have a hard time going to Manila.
01:12It is already here in Tarlac, in our area.
01:16Rachel is one of the applicants who applied for a job fair that might be able to find an opportunity abroad.
01:23The provincial government of Tarlac and the federal state of Upper Austria agreed to send Filipino workers from the province to Austria.
01:35Health care, engineering, construction, information technology, hospitality, and tourism are included among the workers in need in Austria.
01:46We feel very, very comfortable with the Philippines.
01:50If you follow discussions in Europe on immigration, it is a very tough discussion, but never about the Philippines.
01:57We have our T-class which is ready to train them on skills required to properly match the skills of our workers going to Austria.
02:09Last year, Austria and the Philippines also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to send Filipino workers to Austria.
02:19Austria was able to get 500 new OFWs each year because of its great need for professional and skilled workers.
02:30In October, the DMW announced that they will open the Migrant Workers Office in Vienna, Austria.
02:38The reason why we are able to send our workers is not only to our OFWs, but also to the employers who are willing to hire our Filipino workers.
02:51According to the DMW, more than 5,000 Filipinos work in Austria that are mostly in the industry of health care, hospitality, and food service.
03:03You can visit their website at dmw.gov.ph for more information.
