00:00Messaging minors? Grooming allegations? Disturbing accusations involving Mr. Beast collaborator
00:06Ava Chris Tyson have left the YouTube star and his team in the hot seat. Here's what
00:11we know about the investigation.
00:13Mr. Beast and his crew have been under heavy scrutiny ever since disturbing allegations
00:17against Ava Chris Tyson blew up online. Tyson has been accused of inappropriately messaging
00:22and potentially grooming underage fans, and the controversy is far from over. The internet
00:27had mixed reactions to Mr. Beast's statement about the situation, and people are still
00:31demanding more answers from him.
00:33There are still many details that fans have questions about, which isn't helped by the
00:37cacophony of voices on the internet. There's dogpiling, conflicting stories, and all sorts
00:42of uncomfortable details about the story to sift through online. In order to sort this
00:46mess out, Mr. Beast has said he's hired a third-party investigator to look into the
00:50situation. Fans want answers now, but until that investigation gets finished, there's
00:55so much about this controversy that is still unclear. Here are some of the big questions
00:59that have popped up over the last few days.
01:02One oddity here is the timeline. Stories like these can sometimes take years to come to
01:07light, but the scandal surrounding Ava Chris Tyson has broken out in fits and starts. YouTube
01:12channel Prism42 first shared evidence of Tyson and an underage fan who goes by LavaGS having
01:17a close relationship back in early June 2024, but it wasn't until the end of July that the
01:22story started picking up any real momentum.
01:25"'13 years old, he was in middle school, and you were in college.'"
01:29At the time of this writing, Prism42's original video still had only 20,000 views on YouTube,
01:34but the evidence he presented has since been amplified and shared all over the internet.
01:39The fact that Prism42 is a lesser-known content creator helps to partially explain why the
01:44video about Tyson didn't immediately make waves. The story was eventually picked up
01:48by other creators who rolled the LavaGS story into older anecdotes about Tyson being a
01:52fan of the very controversial internet artist Shadman. Not quite a week after the new videos,
01:58the story at last broke into the mainstream. It's been a busy summer, so maybe the internet
02:02was just distracted and slow-moving on this story. Still, the pace with which this story
02:07broke has been confusing for some.
02:10In the first few days of the scandal breaking out, the internet was left waiting to hear
02:13from Mr. Beast and Tyson herself. Fans thought their statements might help clarify the situation,
02:18but now that they've both spoken out, there are even more questions. Some commenters on
02:22social media have argued that Mr. Beast and Tyson are both presenting slightly different
02:26versions of what happened between them. Tyson responded first, with her post addressing
02:30the situation coming out on the afternoon of July 23rd. After offering an apology to
02:34anyone who was offended by her past actions, Tyson tweeted,
02:37"...we've mutually decided it's best I permanently step away from all things Mr. Beast and social
02:42media to focus on my family and mental health."
02:45Ava then says that she's never groomed anyone and that she's only apologizing for her old
02:50social media posts.
02:52Tyson's statement makes it sound like she stepped back after she and Mr. Beast both
02:55agreed it was time for her to leave the crew. However, Mr. Beast's statement doesn't quite
02:59match up. He wrote,
03:01"...I've seen enough online and taken immediate action to remove Ava from the company, my
03:06channel and any association with Mr. Beast."
03:09Mr. Beast doesn't frame the split as a mutual decision, but more like he outright fired
03:13Tyson. Even if the end result is the same, fans want to know which version of events
03:18is accurate.
03:20In his social media post, Mr. Beast didn't just announce that he had removed Ava Tyson
03:24from his business. He also said,
03:26"...I've been focused on hiring an independent third party to conduct a thorough investigation
03:30to ensure I have all the facts. I will allow the independent investigators the necessary
03:34time to conduct a comprehensive investigation and will take any further actions based on
03:38their findings."
03:39That seems like a straightforward and reasonable response, but it does create another wrinkle
03:44in this story. Days before Mr. Beast made this post, Drama Alert host Keemstar claimed
03:49that he'd discussed the accusations with Mr. Beast, who then apparently put him in
03:53touch with Lava GS, the alleged victim. Following this conversation, Keemstar said on X that
03:58he spoke with Lava GS as part of his own investigation.
04:01"...So he connected me to Lava, I spoke to Lava."
04:04A number of things here don't quite add up, as noted by some onlookers. Why would Mr.
04:08Beast reach out to Keemstar if he was also hiring an independent investigator to examine
04:13the allegations behind the scenes? On top of that, Lava GS went public with his side
04:17of the story hours before Keemstar claimed to have spoken with him. In theory, Keemstar
04:21could have reached out to Lava via DMs without Mr. Beast getting involved at all.
04:26Mr. Beast's investigation has also raised a number of questions for his followers. In
04:30his statement on X, Mr. Beast said that he'd spent a few days focusing on finding an independent
04:34investigator, but didn't make it clear whether the investigation has actually begun. Considering
04:39how this entire story has unfolded so slowly, some commenters believe that Mr. Beast has
04:44been looking into the allegations for longer than most of the people finding out about
04:48it this week.
04:49Yeah, so all this beef behind the scenes has been going on for like a month, right?
04:55At least one of Mr. Beast's former employees seems to have implied that the social media
04:59creator has known about this situation for longer than he's letting on. Jake the Viking
05:03Franklin posted, quote, "'Jimmy knew.'" Franklin has not yet posted any hard evidence to support
05:08his claim, but fans are probably going to want Mr. Beast to come forward with a clearer
05:13timeline of events and an estimate on how long the third-party investigation into the
05:17situation is going to take.
05:19You can't trust everything you see on the internet, which is a message that always bears
05:23repeating. There are verified screenshots of Tyson's conversations with Lava.gs that
05:27have come under scrutiny for their inappropriate content, and Lava himself has come forward
05:31to confirm some parts of the story while pushing back against others. Specifically, Lava tweeted
05:36that he wasn't a victim, writing,
05:38Ava never did anything wrong and just made a few edgy jokes I was never exploited or
05:42taken advantage of. But in another tweet, Lava commended Mr. Beast for taking the situation
05:47seriously, writing,
05:48"...while the allegations involving my name aren't true, I feel there is still a lot of
05:52other allegations that deserve to be investigated thoroughly."
05:56Over the last few days, other accounts have been coming forward with claims against Tyson,
06:00but some of the evidence has been disputed. An account called ClipHub posted videos that
06:04claimed to show messages between Tyson and another underage fan. Community notes on X
06:09point out a number of apparent inaccuracies, including mismatched dates and Tyson being
06:13listed under the wrong name. Those videos aren't the only ones that have been making
06:17the rounds on social media, though. Right now, unverified accusations are flying left
06:21and right, so folks following the story may want to take things on social media with a
06:25grain of salt — at least until further official statements are made.
