00:00I may or may not have a pair of Clark Kent glasses.
00:03Oh yeah, you deserve those.
00:05Yeah.
00:12Hi, we are the stars and executive producers of Superman and Lois,
00:15and we are here with The Hollywood Reporter at Comic-Con.
00:18First I have to ask, what was it like being up there in front of a massive crowd of fans
00:22in Hall H today and getting to give them a special preview of Season 4?
00:27Very special.
00:28This is the only Comic-Con that we've been here as a group to do for the show,
00:32so that's a very cool thing.
00:34That was the first time that I'd seen the clip.
00:36Have you seen the clip?
00:37I hadn't seen that clip.
00:38Yeah.
00:39Just the short one.
00:40No, so I think very cool to give everybody kind of a sneak peek
00:42of what's coming up this season.
00:44And at least from my point of view, it seems like very obvious
00:47that even though we had a few restrictions this year,
00:50it's not really going to change much.
00:52Pretty awesome.
00:53I took a great video that I posted on my Instagram of the whole crowd,
00:57and everybody was so pumped up.
00:59And every time I'm here, I can see the line out of my hotel window,
01:04and it's hot, and they're waiting in line for hours and hours.
01:08And I'm just so appreciative of genre fans because they're so loyal
01:13and they're wonderful and they're astute and they're great.
01:16And it was humbling to be in Hall H today,
01:21and it was a great way to end the series.
01:24Yeah.
01:25Season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger,
01:27and I'm sure you probably can't say much,
01:29but what can you tease about the fourth and final season?
01:32I can say that we're killing Superman.
01:34We're doing the death of Superman.
01:38Like always, we take these comic book runs
01:42and put it into the Superman and Lois Blender
01:45and put our own stamp on it, so we're all really excited.
01:48It turned out pretty great.
01:50For Bitsy and Tyler, since this is the final season,
01:53what will you miss most about the show and playing these characters?
01:59I already miss the crew, I will say that.
02:02It was often very tough, cold, rainy, muddy conditions shooting in Vancouver,
02:07and it really was a labor of love.
02:10The show looks like it has a much bigger budget than it ever actually did,
02:14and that was because everybody put their heart and soul into it.
02:17And I miss working with Tyler.
02:19I miss how much he makes fun of me.
02:21That is my love language. I love being teased.
02:23He tapped into that right away.
02:26And I miss, you know, I will, it's fun to be,
02:30like sometimes my husband David reminds me,
02:32like, you're going to be Lois Lane for the rest of history.
02:35You're one of a small group of actresses, and that's really humbling,
02:39and I'm grateful to have been a part of that for the last six years
02:43and to be able to play, as a feminist myself,
02:47to be able to play a woman who has remained so iconic as a fierce woman
02:52and an inspiration to men and women since 1938.
02:57Echoing a lot of that, missing the crew, missing the cast,
03:02missing all these incredible people.
03:05It's been a lot of fun for the years that we had,
03:08so I think I'll miss everybody here and back up in Vancouver the most.
03:13But I think it's strange, because as much as it feels like saying goodbye to something,
03:18we're a piece of something much bigger,
03:21and so these characters we're going to live on,
03:24and not just our versions of them, but new versions of them,
03:27and so it's kind of saying goodbye, but in a strange way,
03:31not having to leave it all behind.
03:33So I think it's in good hands for the future of it,
03:36and so it's kind of like, yeah, I think it's more the personal side of it,
03:40our personal experience, but as far as the actual project goes,
03:45it kind of lives on.
03:47How do you hope your portrayals of Superman and Lois
03:50have added to the great legacy of these characters?
03:53I think we will always stand out as having been the first live-action version
03:57that was them as parents,
03:59and I think that kind of sort of cements us as,
04:02oh, Lois and Clark did have kids,
04:05and also just for live-action to have done a series
04:10that was so cinematic and so grounded.
04:13I'm going to echo one of my favorite responses about the show.
04:17I hope people look back at it and just go, not bad.
04:21Brent and Todd, what will you miss about working on this show?
04:24It's just nice to work on a show about family,
04:27and to tap into that thing that Lois and Clark are in love with each other,
04:31they're these great parents, and they're also great spouses to each other,
04:36and just to tap into a dynamic that's complicated and weird and funny,
04:40which is like being a parent in real life,
04:43I'm going to miss that probably the most of all.
04:46Yeah, I'm going to miss a lot of what Bitsy and Tyler said.
04:49The writers, going to the writers' room every day,
04:52such a great group of people.
04:54The cast, amazing.
04:56Across the board, the crew, the hardest working,
04:59the visual effects team, amazing.
05:02For four years, we all bought into this idea of we're doing Superman and Lois Lane,
05:07so whatever you have to give, give, and then some, and they did.
05:11For me, personally, Bitsy and Tyler are always going to be Superman and Lois Lane.
05:17There's just never, I just don't see it.
05:20I wish everybody the best of luck,
05:22but they're always going to be Superman and Lois Lane to me.
05:25Hear, hear.
05:27Were any of you able to steal anything from the set?
05:31Indeed I was.
05:33I wouldn't call it stealing, though.
05:36From the pilot episode, I have a mug that says L on it.
05:40Then I was gifted by Elliot, our prop guy, Lois' suitcase,
05:45which I refused to wear the entire run of the series
05:48because I don't like props unless they're necessary.
05:51So I have that, and it has LL on it.
05:55I really, really wanted to pay homage to the comics throughout,
05:59with the wardrobe, even today.
06:02I decided, yes, this is taking place in 2020, I guess, when it started,
06:07but I had decided instead of her taking notes on an iPad or an iPhone,
06:11I'm like, I want old-school little notepad.
06:14So I got the notepad, but the coolest thing I have from the show
06:17was during the Bizarro episode when they destroyed our house
06:21and everything was backwards.
06:23What season was that, two?
06:25There was this cool, just kind of roughed-up painting
06:29of the back of an elephant sitting on a tree in the Kent kitchen,
06:35and I was like, I need that.
06:37It's beautiful. It's beautiful.
06:39So I talked to set deck, and they were like,
06:41well, we're never going to do the Bizarro again, so it's yours.
06:44That's my favorite thing I have from the show.
06:46How about you?
06:47I think we got this hand-stitched sign that says,
06:50It Went By So Fast, which hangs in their kitchen,
06:53and it's kind of symbolic of the show.
06:55So Todd and I took one of those for the road,
06:58and it kind of means a lot.
07:00Aw, you both have one?
07:02Oh, that's nice. That's nice.
07:04What about you?
07:05I may or may not have a pair of Clark Kent glasses.
07:09Oh yeah, you deserve those.
07:11So yeah. Other than that, I don't want to get in trouble.
07:15Tyler got to the point where he felt naked without them on his face.
07:20I did, I did. There's a spoiler, but I'm not going to give it away.
07:23No, you can't. I almost did. I stopped myself.
07:26Thank God. I was close.
07:28So close.
07:29It's okay. We're halfway through the day. It's great.
07:33That's awesome.
07:35And coming up, we'll soon see David Cornswet and Rachel Brosnahan
07:38take on these roles in the new Superman movie.
07:40Have you gotten the chance to chat with them at all?
07:43No, I did. When I posted my sort of adieu message on Instagram,
07:48I passed the torch to her, and she responded.
07:52Again, while we are all sad that the series came to an end
07:56faster than we thought it would,
07:58we are grateful to DC Comics for giving us the opportunity to close it out.
08:02And I personally sort of know James Gunn and Peter Safran.
08:06I think highly of both of them.
08:08And I trust that whatever they have planned for the DC universe
08:11is going to be great.
08:14Yeah, for me, from the day I started this,
08:17I was always very aware of just being a small piece of a very large legacy.
08:21So there was always that idea of like passing the baton
08:24whenever that day came, which is now.
08:28Again, very, very honored and privileged to have been a part of this
08:32and super happy to pass it off to David.
08:34I'm sure he's going to do a great job.
08:36He did send me a really nice letter as we were wrapping up.
08:39So that was really lovely of him to do.
08:41But yeah, I wish him the best, and I have no doubt they're going to be great.
08:45Since we're at Comic-Con, we're going to do a few wildcard comic questions.
08:49I'm going to give you this bucket, and you just pull one out and answer it.
08:54You can go ahead and grab it.
08:56I'll grab it.
09:02Is this for the group, or is this just my question?
09:05You can all answer if you want.
09:07Who is the most iconic voice in an animated series that comes to mind?
09:14I have to answer this.
09:16My husband, David Gintoli from Grimm,
09:19voices Batman in some of the DC animated movies.
09:24I don't even know what they're called, like The Doom That Came to Gotham
09:27and then some others, so I have to say David.
09:31Who also directed episode 3 of Superman and Lois and killed it?
09:36This doesn't say DC, so I'm going to veer a little bit.
09:38I'm going to say Tom Hanks as Woody.
09:41I feel like that's got to be pretty close to the top.
09:50Let's pull out another one.
09:52Bitsy, you want to pull one out?
09:54He just did a voiceover the other day in the car, and he pressed play.
09:58I was like, damn, can you just talk like that all the time?
10:01We would have way fewer fights.
10:03You know what, Tobin Bell did Savitar on the last show.
10:08Tobin Bell did Savitar, and Tobin Bell is awesome, so that was pretty fun.
10:22If you could have one superpower, what would it be? Teleportation.
10:26Invisibility.
10:29Flight.
10:35You really want to get up there all cold and wet?
10:37Wouldn't you rather just arrive?
10:39No, but there's no speed limit.
10:41We didn't say fly slowly.
10:43We just said fly, so we can fly very, very fast.
10:45It's totally fine.
10:47I worry about the B side of teleportation.
10:49Like the A side, you disappear.
10:51Do you reappear? Do you reappear all at one part?
10:55Yeah, you reappear with all of your hair and makeup intact.
10:58In theory.
11:00She's making the rules.
11:08What's the best costume you've seen so far?
11:13I haven't seen any this year.
11:15I actually haven't seen any.
11:17I was walking, the boys and Amy and I were walking down to eat yesterday,
11:22and I thought it was Hugh Jackman.
11:24There was a Wolverine, chops, everything.
11:26Spot on.
11:28He was taking pictures with kids.
11:30My kids dressed up, so I'm taking them.
11:32I was just going to say your children.
11:34Also the only costumes I've seen, but your adorable children.
11:38Ringers.
