00:00Rally for the victims whose voices were silent, for survivors whose courage brings us hope,
00:16and for generations to come who deserve to live free from harm.
00:21We are here to say unequivocally that enough is enough.
00:26Domestic violence is not just a private matter.
00:28It is a pervasive issue that affects every layer of our society.
00:32It thrives in silence and secrecy, feeding on power imbalances and societal indifference.
00:38By coming today we are breaking that silence.
00:41We are shining a light on the dark corners where abuse hides and we are demanding change.
00:48Change begins with us, here, now, in this moment.
00:52It begins with raising our voices, educating our communities and holding our leaders accountable.
00:58It begins with supporting survivors, offering them the resources they need to heal and rebuild
01:03their lives and ensuring they know that they are not alone.
01:09Our presence here today is a testament to our strength and solidarity.
01:14It's a reminder that when we come together we can achieve remarkable things.
01:18We can push for stronger laws, better support systems and a cultural shift that no longer
01:23tolerates any form of violence or discrimination.
01:28Listen.
01:30Listen without judgement.
01:33Validate their experiences.
01:36Often survivors may feel ashamed or guilty and speaking about their experiences can be
01:41an incredibly difficult thing to do.
01:44So listen.
01:46Listen attentively.
01:48Reassure them that they are not alone and that the violence is not their fault.
01:53It can be a safe space for someone to open up and feel supported.
01:58Just let them be heard.
02:01Secondly we encourage you to encourage them to seek professional help.
02:06You can offer to accompany someone to appointments with counsellors or support services or suggest
02:11someone else who could.
02:14Counselling can provide crucial support in rebuilding self-esteem and coping with trauma.
02:19We are fortunate to have local organisations such as Headspace and Likemind, just to name
02:24two, to offer mental health support as well as many private practice psychologists that
02:29specialise in this area.
02:32Additionally Victim Services NSW is an avenue to access much needed funding for immediate
02:37needs and counselling.
02:39I want everyone to have a look around here.
