00:00just one day away from the MLB trade deadline that is tomorrow afternoon into
00:05the early evening hours after that all rosters are set for a run to October and
00:11playoff contention around Major League Baseball DRS we saw some moves over the
00:17weekend most notably he saw Brady's traded from Tampa to Chicago the Rays
00:22were selling this weekend Zach Eflin trying to bolster the rotation in
00:26Baltimore for the O's and of course Jazz Chisholm makes his way from Miami to the
00:32Bronx to play for the New York Yankees some other notable MLB trade candidates
00:37here on the day before MLB trade deadline day Eric Fetty from the Chicago
00:43White Sox Garrett Crochet perhaps from the White Sox as well it does not seem
00:49as though Tarek Scouble is gonna be on the move from Detroit but Jack Flaherty
00:53certainly on the block once again Blake Snell side with San Francisco this
00:58offseason after winning a Cy Young Award in San Diego last year was injured and
01:03banked up for most of the 2024 campaign but in four starts in July looks to be
01:10Cy Young quality Luis Robert from the struggling Chicago White Sox probably
01:15the best bat available here ahead of the deadline and some others that you see
01:21there of those names DRS on the graphic which intrigues you the most I mean I
01:27guess it would be Blake Snell because that high-end starting pitching effort
01:31that you can get out of him moving down the stretch could impact another team
01:34but it's just crazy to see him on that deadline after just coming over to the
01:38Giants but also let's be honest with ourselves in the past less wild-card
01:42teams usually equals a much much more exciting deadline because a lot of teams
01:46are figuring six seven eight nine ten games out of it let's sell here you sell
01:50to the better teams and that sprint towards the finish you're not getting
01:53that this year and if you do want to get one of these superstar players you are
01:56going to pay a premium in order to get them because we were just thinking just
02:00a week or two ago like a scoop was on the you know on the market for a chance
02:03to be moved by the deadline and quite frankly myself me you Craig we're saying
02:07to ourselves like what like scruples in his 20s now like it's not the guy you're
02:11supposed to keep around why you still have them under wraps here routine that
02:14may be still in contention so it's good to see that on one aspect of it and also
02:18for me being a Philadelphia Phillies fan or let's just say you're a Yankees fan
02:22or an Orioles fan the thought process behind it was the Dodgers are gonna get
02:26to Cy Young award-winning arms at the deadline in a way they go to win it now
02:29looks like if that's gonna be the case they have to give up just about their
02:32entire farm system in order to get that so when we take a look at these names is
02:35the big names on the block Fetty Flaherty Luis Robert jr.
02:40Rangifo Diaz it's like well where's all the superstar players well a lot of
02:44these players are still on teams that are within a couple games or a handful
02:46of games we should say on making the playoffs so even though the advent of
02:49the wildcard was fantastic for baseball overall it does take a little bit of a
02:53steam out of the trade deadline because more teams think they can actually make
02:56the playoffs and that's the goal yeah it really is and when you look at the
03:01National League oh boy there are so many teams still in the
03:05hunt perhaps of a wildcard spot we have shared this there are six teams right
03:10now separated by only three and a half games for all three of those National
03:15League wildcard positions the Braves at the top the Padres and the Mets have
03:19wildcard spots at the season ended today but New York only a half game in front
03:24of Arizona who's a half game in front of st. Louis who's a full game in front of
03:29Pittsburgh San Francisco three and a half games back of that third and final
03:34National League wildcard spot the Giants should be buyers the Giants should be in
03:39contention San Francisco at this moment they are right now currently two games
03:44below 500 is Blake Snell really on the block is Blake Snell a potential trade
03:51piece the R.S. we mentioned it a couple of weeks ago Snell who had only made a
03:56couple of starts this year six up until the beginning of July he started the
04:02year then he was injured to the end of May made two starts then was injured or
04:07actually through early June and then was injured again until July in 24 innings of
04:13work in July over the course of four starts he is allowed only eight hits to
04:19earn runs and yesterday he struck or Saturday rather against Colorado he
04:24struck out 15 and shut out baseball over six innings if Blake Snell is on the
04:32block to somebody make a move one of the true contenders for a World Series title
04:37make a move to acquire Blake Snell and if you are Blake Snell who do you play
04:42for right now the San Francisco Giants so that front office certainly would say
04:46like hey phone calls ringing down there from Southern California oh it's the
04:49Dodgers you're not picking up the phone at this point so maybe you could get a
04:52bigger return if it was to the Dodgers but it's very rare that you're going to
04:55help out you know your hated rival by handing in the pitcher and maybe into a
05:00World Series ticket at this point so maybe you're looking at Blake Snell
05:03going to the East Coast I'm seeing that name there sort of caught me by surprise
05:06because we usually know the names of the past three to four weeks who's gonna be
05:10available and some of these teams that are dipping out of it but again the San
05:13Francisco Giants having a great year no but still three and a half games back
05:17out of a wild card here with two months left in the season in a big market now
05:21you take a look at Tampa like we always anticipate they operate that way hey
05:25just went off a playoff run or a World Series run let's trade two or three of
05:30our most legitimate starting pitchers they just reach we'll make the playoffs
05:33again there's sort of the anomaly as opposed to the standard here so I would
05:36be surprised if Blake Snell is on the move but it's no surprise Eric Fetty I
05:40mean I don't know who's gonna help out and get him you know Luis Robert a very
05:44good outfielder here but maybe the price is a little bit too high the sellers
05:47should be teams like the White Sox and the Angels yeah it's crazy to see like
05:51you know Yandy Diaz moves on for the raise look at all the power and that
05:55lineup from suspension and expulsion from baseball and also just from
05:59trading that team is going through a complete identity change down in Tampa
06:03and again they're still right in the mix for a playoff spot
06:06Randy Rosarena traded last week as well by Tampa it's an interesting time for
06:13the Rays who are still above 500 three games out of a wild-card spot in a team
06:17that has made the postseason in the American League five consecutive years
06:22it is interesting is there you know I'm not our MLB insider DRS has sources of
06:27sources but he's not our MLB insider Craig Mish will be here tomorrow for a
06:33segment known as the daily basis but Donnie is there a reason Garrett crochet
06:38was not on that list I don't like I have no idea what's going on with that like
06:45we're talking about pitchers on the move and I'm getting guys like a that's what
06:50I'm saying like and also what is the deal with him throwing and not pitching
06:53well at this point and then not pitching long in the games I have no idea what
06:56some of these teams are looking at right now wait so Friso talk to us in our
07:01headphones right now the White Sox have come out and said they're not trading
07:04Garrett crochet
07:08oh okay Friso doing some MLB inside scooping to fill out that graphic 24 plus
07:20hours out from the MLB trade deadline we take one final look at where those odds
07:25are around MLB to put a pin into where the numbers stand right now and where
07:30they might move after the moves made around the major leagues the Yankees
07:35still the favorites to win the American League pennant 60 cents in front of
07:39Baltimore plus 244 New York 3 to 1 price on the O's the Orioles struggling they've
07:45dropped 10 of their last 15 but still maintain a one-game advantage in the
07:49American League eats the biggest movement DRS has been the Houston Astros
07:54a 6 to 1 price now on the Stroh's we'll hear from Joe Friso in just a moment to
08:00see where that number was just before the break at the end of the MLB all-star
08:05break and where it has gotten to only one week after returning from the
08:10all-star break Houston a series victory in the marquee matchup this weekend over
08:16the Dodgers taking two of three Seattle swept the White Sox good it's what you
08:20should do those two teams tied atop the American League West standings at this
08:25moment yeah and it's fun to talk about these odds as they shape up 24 hours out
08:29from the deadline and then once we hit the deadline tomorrow where those odds
08:32are actually going to move or expecting monster shifts not necessarily unless
08:37let's just say the Dodgers did get Tarek school but how much low were you going
08:40Ben from plus 165 are you going to plus 100 no maybe you move the plus 150 plus
08:45145 at that point and similar with the Philadelphia Phillies if they pull off
08:49any more trades here now they got Hayes in the outfield they got their clothes
08:52or there's a real need for the Philadelphia Phillies up and down that
08:55roster and same thing with the Dodgers you're almost waiting for some of those
08:58guys to come back off of the IL to get better at the deadline as opposed to
09:01making major moves to get a pitcher but there are some pitchers out there that
09:05are dominant but you might just have to get a crazy return just to get them even
09:10if they are rental at this point so I look at these numbers and say okay let's
09:13see where they are tomorrow not too many discrepancies for me Dodgers his
09:16favorites don't mind it Phillies in second place that's fine Yankees his
09:20favorites just followed by the Orioles that's fine to me as well I think the
09:23top four here is in correct order just on the betting principles right now
09:27might change slightly tomorrow once we hit that deadline the Astros have moved
09:32up by two bucks since before the all-star break it was an eight to one
09:35number Donnie you have pleaded all season long for the teams in the
09:39American League Central to make a move if they actually want to be contenders
09:43come October Cleveland has the best record in the American League over
09:48Baltimore plus 750 in a four and a half game lead in the AL Central over the
09:53Twins do you anticipate the Guardians or the Twins making a move tomorrow I
09:58think the Guardians are more intriguing team because the one thing we do know is
10:01that bullpen is really good for Cleveland with class a at the back end
10:05of it man you have a lead getting into late innings you're gonna be able to
10:08shut it down as if they did with the Phillies yesterday I like because we're
10:11talking about who's gonna make a splash like the expect the Yankees the Orioles
10:14possibly Phillies and the Dodgers already making moves for either one of
10:17those organizations but I do think you have the most to gain probably would be
10:21the Guardians been in my out because I like the lineup I like the starting
10:25pitching staff I like the bullpen just give me something to believe like wow
10:28that's a great move for them to jumpstart that locker room as well so I
10:32have my eye on the Guardians most but I have my doubts here I just figured they
10:36operate as a smaller market team saying we're not giving up any of the future we
10:39got a solid team right now and see where it goes that's not gonna be good enough
10:42to win a World Series I'm watching the Guardians make a move Guardians do it
10:46the Royals now in that third and final American League wildcard spot a game
10:51ahead of Boston the Red Sox two and seven since returning from the all-star
10:56break in the National League the Dodgers remain the short favorites they're 35
11:00cents in front of Philadelphia pretty much has been the numbers for the last
11:04three weeks or so since before the all-star break there really hasn't been
11:10all that much movement DRS maybe on the Braves moving back by a buck after the
11:14news of Reynaldo Lopez exiting the game early after only three innings I swear
11:20to you the Brewers have been a 12 to 1 price since April that's where Milwaukee
11:24is right now yeah nobody wants to move Milwaukee off of that number Yelich with
11:28the back injuries here we know we're gonna get out of the Brewers on a
11:31day-to-day basis but sometimes foreshadowing might help a baseball team
11:35the Atlanta Braves with Reynaldo Lopez better to have that arm issue come
11:40before the deadline than a day or two after the deadline but also if you're
11:44the Atlanta Braves and I say this time and time again love that front office
11:47but you can clearly see they're not one of the best teams in baseball are you
11:50really gonna make moves to give up prospects to do what this season that's
11:54the question that you have to have at this point for the for the Atlanta
11:57Braves but at the same time it's nice to know you have some clarity on maybe an
12:00injury before that deadline we'll see if they take advantage of it but I'm not
12:03expecting big things out of the Atlanta Braves at the deadline this year so the
12:07Braves are the top at El Wild Card spot and then we've shared there are six
12:12teams including Atlanta separated by only three and a half games you see them
12:16after the Brewers the Padres Mets D-backs Cardinals and Pirates virtually
12:20in that order in the standings and the odds perspective I think the two big
12:25numbers to pay attention to down the stretch San Diego 17 to 1 they've won
12:30seven of nine games since the all-star break and the New York Mets keep winning
12:34as well a 19 to 1 price our three up next you're on TV
