00:00Allah does not like the public utterance of the hurtful speech, except it is by one who
00:07has been done injustice to, and Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.
00:14If you do a good deed openly, or do it in private, or pardon an injury done to you,
00:21remember Allah is ever-pardoning, all-powerful.
00:23Verily, those who disbelieve in Allah and His Messengers, or while believing, choose
00:31to make a distinction between Allah and His Messengers, and say, We believe in some and
00:38disbelieve in others, intending to strike a course in between.
00:44It is these who are veritable disbelievers, and We have prepared a humiliating punishment
00:50for such disbelievers.
00:52On the other hand, those who believe in Allah and all of His Messengers, and while believing
00:59make no distinction between any of them, it is to these whom We will soon give their rewards.
01:05Indeed, Allah is great Protector, ever-merciful.
01:11The people of the Scripture ask you to bring down upon them a book from the heaven.
01:16They made a more wicked and greater demand than that from Moses, when they said, Show
01:22us Allah openly, face to face.
01:26Then a destructive punishment overtook them for their wrongdoing.
01:31Then they took the calf for worship, after clear commandments had come to them, but We
01:36pardoned them even after that, and We gave Moses an undisputed authority.
01:44And We raised the mount above them, while taking their covenant at the foot of the mount,
01:50and We said to them, Enter the gate of the town submissively.
01:54And We said to them, Do not violate the law of Sabbath.
01:59And We took from them a solemn covenant.
02:03Then because of their breaking the covenant, and their denial of the messages of Allah,
02:09and their antagonizing the prophets without a just cause, and their saying, Our hearts
02:15are uncircumcised and so cannot hear.
02:19Today the truth, however, is, Allah has set a seal upon their hearts because of their
02:25disbelief, so that they believe but a little.
02:30And the Lord has done this because of their denying Jesus, and because of their uttering
02:35a great calumny against Mary, and because of their falsely claiming, We did kill the
02:42Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, the false messenger of Allah.
02:47Whereas they killed Him not, nor did they cause His death by crucifixion, but He was
02:52made to them to resemble one crucified to death.
02:57Verily those who differ therein are certainly in a state of confusion about it.
03:03They have no definite knowledge of the matter, but are only following a conjecture.
03:09They did not kill Him, this much is certain.
03:14Rather Allah exalted Him with all honor to His presence, and Allah is almighty, all-wise.
03:24And there is none from among the people of the scripture but most certainly will believe
03:29in this incident that Jesus died on the cross before His death, while as a matter of fact
03:35They have no sure knowledge about Jesus dying on the cross, and on the day of resurrection
03:41He Jesus will be a witness against them.
03:46Then by way of punishing them, on account of the transgression of those who Judaized,
03:52We made unlawful to them certain of the good and pure things which had been allowed to
03:57them before, and that too on account of their causing hindrances to many, from Allah's way.
04:04And also on account of their taking interest and usury, though they were forbidden it,
04:10and because of their misappropriating people's belongings.
04:14And We have prepared a woeful punishment for those among them who disbelieve.
04:20But those from among them who are firmly grounded in knowledge, and the faithful who believe
04:25in that divine message which has been revealed to you, and that which was revealed before
04:31you, and especially the observers of prayers, and those who go on presenting the zakat,
04:38and believe in Allah in the last day, it is they We will certainly bestow on them a great
04:44reward.
04:48Surely We have sent down Our revelation to you, as We sent it down to Noah and the prophets
04:53who came after him, and We sent revelation to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his
05:02children, and to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and We gave David a scripture.
05:13And there are some messengers whom We have mentioned to you before, and many messengers
05:18We have not mentioned them to you, and Allah spoke to you as He spoke to Moses in explicit
05:24words at great length.
05:27All these messengers were bearers of good tidings to the believers, and warners to the
05:31disbelievers, and were sent so that people may have no plea against Allah after the advent
05:38of the messengers.
05:39And Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.
05:43They deny the Quran, but Allah Himself bears witness through His revelation to you that
05:49He has revealed it, with His knowledge, and the angels bear witness as well.
05:56Yet Allah suffices for a witness.
06:01Those who disbelieve and hinder others from following Allah's way have indeed strayed
06:07a far-off strain.
06:11Those who have disbelieved and have associated partners with Him, it is not for Allah to
06:16protect them, nor will He show them any way, other than the way leading to Jahannah, wherein
06:23they shall live for long.
06:26Indeed, that would be easy for Allah.
06:29O people, this messenger has indeed come to you with the truth from your Lord, so believe,
06:37it will be better for you.
06:39But if you disbelieve, know that whatever is in the heavens and in the earth belongs
06:46to Him.
06:47Allah is ever All-Knowing, All-Wise.
06:53O people of the scripture, do not go beyond the limits of propriety in the matter of your
06:59religion, nor say anything regarding Allah except that which is perfectly true.
07:05The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and a fulfillment of
07:13His word which He communicated to Mary, and a mercy from Him.
07:20Believe therefore in Allah and in all His messengers, and do not say, there are three.
07:28Refrain from following this doctrine, it will be better for you.
07:33Surely Allah is the one and only worthy of worship.
07:37He is holy, far above having a son.
07:41To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and Allah suffices
07:48as a disposer of affairs.
07:52The Messiah never disdains to be looked upon as a servant of Allah, nor do the angels who
07:58are nearest to Him consider the fact degrading for themselves.
08:04And whoever disdains from His service and behaves arrogantly, the day will come when
08:09He will gather them all together to Himself.
08:14On that day, as to those who believed and did deeds of righteousness, He will give them
08:20their rewards in full and will add to them even more out of His bounty.
08:25But as for those who disdained to worship God and acted arrogantly, He will inflict
08:31a woeful punishment on them all.
08:35And apart from Allah, they will find for themselves no patron nor helper.
08:41O you people, a manifest proof has indeed come to you from your Lord, and we have sent
08:49down a clear light to you, which distinguishes the right from the wrong.
08:57Now as to those who believe in Allah and hold fast to Him, He will surely admit them to
09:03His mercy and to His grace and will guide them along a straight and right path leading
09:08to Himself.
09:11They ask you of your ruling, say, Allah gives you His ruling concerning Kalala, one who
09:18has neither parents left nor a child.
09:21If a man dies, he has no child, but leaves only a sister behind, then she shall inherit
09:28half of what he leaves.
09:30Likewise, he, the brother who is Kalala, shall inherit her whole property.
09:37If she, the sister, has no child and dies.
09:41But if there be two sisters or more, then they shall receive two-thirds of what he,
09:47the brother who is Kalala, leaves.
09:50And if they, the survivors, be brethren, men and women, then for the male is the equal
09:56of the portion of two females.
09:59Allah makes His commandments clear to you, lest you should err.
10:03And Allah knows all things well.
10:07Al-Ma'idah, the table spread with food.
10:12With the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Ever Merciful.
10:17O you who believe, abide by all your obligations.
10:23All quadrupeds of the class of cattle and feeding on plants are made lawful to you for
10:28food other than those which are enumerated to you as forbidden.
10:34Yet you are forbidden to kill game whilst in a pilgrim's garb or in the sacred precincts.
10:39Usually Allah decrees what He intends.
10:43O you who believe, do not desecrate the symbols that lead to the knowledge and realization
10:49of Allah, nor any sacred month, nor the animals brought as an offering, nor those animals
10:56wearing necklaces as a mark of sacrifice during the hajj, nor those pilgrims repairing to
11:02the sacred house, seeking favor and grace of their Lord and His good pleasure.
11:07And when you are free from pilgrimage, having taken off the pilgrim's garb and are off the
11:12sacred precincts, you may go hunting.
11:16And do not let the enmity of a people that they hindered you from the Masjid al-Haram
11:22incite you to transgression against them.
11:25Help one another in righteousness and in warding off evil, but do not help one another to commit
11:30sin and transgression.
11:33And take Allah as a shield.
11:35Usually Allah is severe in retribution.
11:40You are forbidden to take for food an animal which dies of itself, and the blood poured
11:46forth, also the flesh of swine, and that which is immolated in the name of anyone other than
11:53Allah, and that which has been strangled, and that which has been beaten to death, and
11:59that which has been killed by a fall, and that which has been gored to death, and that
12:05of which a wild beast has eaten, except what you have duly slaughtered before its expiry.
12:12And also forbidden to you is that which has been slaughtered at altars set up for false
12:18deities.
12:19And you are also not permitted that you seek to know your lot by the divining arrows.
12:26These are all acts of disobedience.
12:30This day have those who disbelieve, despaired of harming your faith.
12:35So do not hold them in awe, but stand in awe of me.
12:40This day have I perfected for you your faith, and completed my blessings upon you, and have
12:46chosen Islam for your faith.
12:50But he who is forced by extreme hunger, without being willfully inclined to sin, then surely
12:57he will find that Allah is great Protector, ever merciful.
13:03They ask you what is made lawful for them.
13:06Say, All good and pure things are made lawful for you.
13:11Also made lawful is the game held down by those birds and beasts of prey which you have
13:16trained, provided you set them at it to catch it living for you, since you train them according
13:23to the knowledge Allah has given you.
13:26So eat of that which they hold down for you, and pronounce thereon the name of Allah, and
13:32take Allah as a shield.
13:35Surely Allah is swift in reckoning.
13:39This day all good and pure things have been made lawful for you.
13:43And the food of those who have been given the scripture is lawful for you.
13:48And your food is lawful for them.
13:51And lawful for you for marriage are the chaste women from among the believing women, and
13:56chaste women from among those who have been given the scripture before you, provided that
14:00you pay them their dowers, after contracting valid marriage, not committing fornication,
14:07nor seeking secret love affairs by taking secret paramours.
14:12And whoever denies the commandments of the true faith, no doubt he will find his deeds
14:17have gone in vain, and he will be of the losers in the hereafter.
14:21O you who believe!
14:25When you get up for prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, and pass
14:30your wet hands over your heads, and wash your feet up to the ankles.
14:36And if you are under an obligation to perform a bath, then wash yourselves thoroughly clean
14:41by a bath.
14:42But if you have been taken ill or on a journey, or one of you comes from the privy, or you
14:49have had sexual contact with women and you do not find water, then have recourse to clean
14:56pure dust, and wipe your faces and your hands with it.
15:01Allah does not intend to impose any impediments on you, but he intends to purify you and complete
15:08his blessings upon you, so that you may give him thanks.
15:14And O Muslims, remember Allah's favour which rests upon you, and his covenant to which
15:21he has bound you, when you said, We hear your commandments, and we obey them.
15:28And take Allah as a shield, verily Allah knows well what is in the inmost depths of the minds.
15:37O you who believe, be steadfast, upholders of the right for the cause of Allah, bearers
15:44of true witness in equity, and do not let the enmity of a people move you at all to
15:51act otherwise than equitably.
15:54Be equitable always, that is nearer to being secure against evil.
16:00And take Allah as a shield, surely Allah is well aware of what you do.
16:08Allah has promised protection and a great reward for those who believe and do deeds
16:13of righteousness.
16:15But as to those who disbelieve and reject our messages, it is these who are the fellows
16:21of the blazing fire.
16:24O you who believe, remember Allah's favour upon you, when a people had made up their
16:31minds to lay their hands on you, but he withheld their hands from you.
16:35And take Allah as a shield.
16:38The believers should then put their trust in Allah.
16:43And Allah indeed took a covenant from the children of Israel, and we raised twelve chieftains
16:50from among them.
16:51And Allah said, Surely I am with you.
16:55If you observe prayer, and present the zakat, and believe in my messengers, and lend them
17:01support in a respectful manner, and perform an act of virtue, and cut off a portion of
17:08your goodly gifts for the cause of Allah, I will certainly absolve you of your sins,
17:14and will surely admit you to gardens served with running streams.
17:19But if any one of you disbelieves after that, surely he has strayed away from the right
17:24way.
17:26So on account of their breaking their covenant, we deprived them of our blessings, and we
17:32let their hearts become hardened.
17:35Now they pervert the words from their proper context, and in doing so, they have abandoned
17:41a good portion of what they were reminded of, and exhorted with.
17:46And you will never cease to discover one dishonesty or the other on their part, with
17:51the exception of a few of them.
17:53So pardon them, and pass them over.
17:57Verily Allah loves the doers of good to others.
18:02We took the covenant of those also who say, We are Christians, but they have abandoned
18:07a good portion of what they were reminded of, and exhorted with.
18:12So we have kindled enmity and hatred between various sects of them till the Day of Resurrection,
18:19and Allah will soon inform them of all their machination.
18:23O People of the Scripture!
18:26Our Messenger who has come to you, unfolds many teachings of the Scripture which you
18:31had kept hidden, and many a thing he passes over.
18:36There has come to you indeed from Allah a light and the perspicuous book that distinguishes
18:43the right from the wrong.
18:46Allah guides with this book those who follow his good pleasure to the ways of peace, and
18:52he takes them out of all kinds of darkness into the light by his leave, and guides them
18:59along the exact right path.
19:03They have only disbelieved who say, Verily Allah, he is the Messiah, son of Mary.
19:11Say, Who then had any power to stand in the way of Allah, when he intended to put an end
19:18to the Messiah, son of Mary, and his mother, and all those that were in the earth?
19:25And to Allah belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, and all that lies between
19:30the two.
19:32He creates what he will, for he is the possessor of full power to do all that he will.
19:40The Jews and the Christians say in respect of their respective selves, We are the sons
19:46of Allah and his loved ones.
19:49Say, Why then does he punish you for your sins?
19:54Nay, you are but human beings like many of his creation.
19:59He protects whom he will, and punishes whom he will.
20:04To Allah belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, and all that lies between the
20:10two, and to him is the final return of all.
20:15O people of the scripture, there has already come to you our messenger who makes things
20:21clear to you after a break in the series of messengers, lest you should say, There has
20:27not come to us any bearer of good tidings, nor a warner.
20:32Now there has, indeed, come to you a bearer of good tidings and a warner, and Allah is
20:38the possessor of full power to do all that he will.
20:44And recall the time when Moses said to his people, O my people, remember Allah's blessings
20:50upon you when he raised prophets among you, and made you masters of your own affairs,
20:57and he gave you what he has not given to any other of your contemporary peoples.
21:02O my people, enter the holy land which Allah has ordained for you, and turn not on your
21:09backs, for then you turn losers.
21:13They said, O Moses, surely there are in that land arrogant and exceedingly powerful people,
21:20and we shall never enter it unless they depart from it, and if they depart from it then we
21:26will certainly enter it.
21:28There were upon two men, Joshua and Caleb, from among those who feared their lord, and
21:35on whom Allah had bestowed his blessings, said, Enter the gate of the city advancing
21:41against them, for when once you have entered it you shall surely be victorious, and in
21:47Allah you should put your trust when you are believers in him.
21:51They said, O Moses, we will certainly never enter it so long as they are therein.
21:58So go forth you and your lord, then fight there you two, surely we will sit down here
22:05and watch.
22:07Moses said, My lord, surely I have no control but on myself and my brother Aaron.
22:16Therefore bring about separation between us and these disobedient people.
22:21God said, Verily it, the holy land, is forbidden to them for forty years.
22:28They shall wander about in the earth distracted and in confusion, so grieve not over these
22:35disobedient people.
22:38And relate to them with the truth the great news of the two sons of Adam, when they each
22:44made an offering, and it was accepted from one of them and was not accepted from the
22:49other.
22:51The latter whose offering was not accepted out of jealousy for the other said, I will
22:56slay you.
22:58He replied, How can I be held responsible for the rejection of your offering?
23:04Allah accepts only from those who become secure against evil.
23:10Should you lay your hand on me to kill me, I am not at all going to lay my hand on you
23:16to kill you.
23:17I do fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
23:21I would rather like you to bear the burden of the sin committed against me, and that
23:26of your own sin committed previously due to which your offering was not accepted, and
23:32thus you would become of the fellows of the fire.
23:36Such indeed is the recompense of the wrongdoers.
23:40But the baser instincts of his mind prompted him whose offering was not accepted to kill
23:47his brother whose offering was accepted.
23:50So he killed him, wherefore he became one of the losers.
23:55Then Allah sent a raven which scratched into the earth so as to show him how he might cover
24:00his brother's dead body.
24:02He said, Woe is me!
24:05Am I unable to be even like this raven, so that I may cover the dead body of my brother?
24:12And he became one of the remorseful.
24:16Because of this incident we laid down for the children of Israel that he who kills a
24:21human being, unless it be for murdering a person or for reforming disorder in the country,
24:27it is as if he has killed the entire human race.
24:32And whoso saves a human life, it is as if he has saved the entire humanity.
24:39Certainly our messengers had already come to them with clear arguments, yet even after
24:45that many of them were certainly those who committed excesses in the land.
24:51The only recompense of those who make war against Allah and his messenger, and who strive
24:57hard to create disorder in the land, is according to the nature of the crime that they be executed
25:03or crucified to death, or that their hands and feet be cut off on account of their opposition,
25:10or their free movement in the land be banned by exile or imprisonment.
25:15This would mean ignominy for them in this world and there awaits them in the hereafter
25:21a severe punishment.
25:25Different however is the case of those criminals who turn with repentance before you overpower
25:29them, and know that surely Allah is a great protector, ever merciful.
25:37O you who believe, take Allah as a shield and seek means of nearness to him, and struggle
25:44for his cause, so that you may attain your goal.
25:49As for those who disbelieve, even if they come to possess all that is in the earth,
25:55and as much more to offer, that they might redeem themselves therewith from the punishment
26:00of the day of resurrection, it would not be accepted from them.
26:05There awaits them a grievous punishment.
26:08They would wish to come out of the fire, but they will not be able to come out of it.
26:14There awaits them a long-lasting punishment.
26:18And as for the man addicted to theft and the woman addicted to theft, cut off their hands
26:25in retribution of the crime that they have committed, an exemplary punishment from Allah,
26:31and Allah is almighty, all-wise.
26:36But whoso turns in repentance after his committing an unjust deed, and reforms himself, then
26:42surely Allah will turn to him with mercy.
26:46Verily Allah is a great protector, ever merciful.
26:51Do you not know that Allah is he to whom belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth?
26:58He punishes whom he will, and protects whom he will, and Allah is the possessor of full
27:04power to do all that he will.
27:07O messenger, let not those who vie with one another in spreading disbelief, those of them
27:14who say with their mouths, We believe, but their hearts believe not, and those of them
27:21who Judaize, grieve you.
27:24They are the acceptors of falsehood, and are those who listen for conveying to other
27:29people who have not yet come to you.
27:32They tear their words of God from their proper places, and pervert the meanings thereof,
27:38and say, If you are given this sort of commandment, accept it, and if you are not given this,
27:45then be careful.
27:47And he on whom Allah desires to inflict his punishment, you can do nothing to save him
27:52from the punishment of Allah.
27:55It is these whose hearts Allah has not been pleased to purify.
28:00Ignominy is their lot in this world, and there awaits them in the hereafter a great punishment.
28:09They are habitual listeners to falsehood, too much given to eating things forbidden.
28:15If they come to you seeking your judgment, judge between them or turn aside from them.
28:21If you turn aside from them, they shall do you no harm at all.
28:26But if you judge, then judge between them with justice, for surely Allah loves the just.
28:35And how should they appoint you their judge, whilst they have with them the Torah which
28:39contains the law and judgment of Allah?
28:42Yet they turn their backs even after that, and such people are not true believers, neither
28:48in the Quran, nor in the Torah.
28:52Verily it is we who revealed Torah, wherein there was guidance and light.
28:59According to it the prophets, who submitted themselves to us, did judge for those who
29:04Judaized, and so also did the teachers of divine knowledge, and those learned in the
29:10law.
29:11They did it because they were required to preserve some of the scriptures of Allah,
29:16and because they stood guardians over it.
29:18Hence, hold not people in awe, but stand in awe of me, and do not barter away my messages
29:26for a trifling gain.
29:29And he who does not judge according to that law which Allah has revealed, it is these
29:34who are the real disbelievers.
29:37And therein we laid down the following law for them the Jews.
29:42Life for life, and eye for eye, and nose for nose, and ear for ear, and tooth for tooth,
29:51and for other injuries an equitable retaliation.
29:55But he who chooses to forego the right, thereto for the sake of Allah, it shall be an expiation
30:02of sins for him.
30:04And whoever does not judge according to the law which Allah has revealed, these it is
30:09who are the very unjust.
30:13And we sent Jesus, son of Mary, in the footsteps of these prophets, fulfilling that which was
30:18revealed before him of the Torah.
30:21And we gave him the evangel, which contained guidance and light, fulfilling that which
30:27was revealed before it of the Torah, and was a means of guidance and an exhortation for
30:34those who guard against evil.
30:37And let the followers of the evangel judge according to what Allah has revealed therein.
30:43And indeed those who do not judge according to what Allah has revealed, it is these who
30:48are the real disobedient.
30:52And we have revealed to you this perfect book, comprising truth and wisdom, fulfilling the
30:59prophecies of the scripture which was present before it and stands as a guardian over it.
31:04And judge between them according to that which Allah has revealed of the Quran.
31:10And do not deviate from the truth that has come to you in order to follow their low desires.
31:16For each one of you did we prescribe a spiritual law and a well-defined way.
31:23And if Allah had so willed, he might have made you all one community by force.
31:30But he wishes to show your perfection, the capacities and capabilities that he has endowed
31:36you with.
31:37Therefore, vie one with another in doing good deeds.
31:42To Allah is the return of you all.
31:45Then he will inform you as to that wherein you were at variance.
31:50And we have revealed this perfect book to you, that you judge between them according
31:54to that law which Allah has revealed, and do not follow their low desires.
32:00Rather be on your guard against them, lest they should tempt you and cause you fall into
32:05trouble due to some part of the commandments that Allah has revealed to you.
32:11If they turn back showing disregard to our revelations, know that Allah intends to punish
32:17them for some of their sins.
32:19Indeed, a large number of human beings are certainly disobedient.
32:24Do they seek to enforce the law of the days of ignorance?
32:28And who is better than Allah in giving judgment for a people who are convinced of their faith?
32:36O you who believe, do not take those particular type of Jews and Christians who are enemies
32:42of Islam for allies.
32:45They are allies of one to another when against you.
32:49And whoso from amongst you takes them for allies, is indeed one of them.
32:56Verily Allah does not guide the unjust people to attain their goal.
33:02Now you shall see those in whose hearts is a disease of hypocrisy, vying one with another
33:07towards them.
33:08They say, We are afraid lest a misfortune should befall us.
33:14But it is well nigh that Allah will bring about a victory, or some other more remarkable
33:20event in favor of Islam from himself.
33:24Then they will become more remorseful and ashamed for what they secretly harbored in
33:28their minds.
33:31And those who have believed will say, Are these they who swore by Allah, their most
33:37solemn oaths, that they were surely with you?
33:42Their deeds have gone waste, and their machination failed, so that they have become the losers.
33:50O you who believe, if any one of you should renounce his faith, let him remember that
33:56Allah will bring forth in his stead a people more zealous in faith, whom he will love and
34:02who will love him, who will be kind and humble towards the believers, and mighty and firm
34:08against the disbelievers.
34:10They will strive hard in the cause of Allah, and will not fear the reproach of any fault-finder.
34:16Remember, these virtues are to be attained through Allah's bounty which he bestows upon
34:23whomsoever he will.
34:26And Allah is bountiful, all-knowing.
34:30Your real ally is only Allah, and his messenger, and those who believe, and observe prayer
34:37and present the zakat, and they bow down in obedience to Allah.
34:43And whoso takes for his allies Allah and his messenger, and those who believe, let him
34:49know that surely such a one is the party of Allah, and it is the party of Allah that is
34:55the truly triumphant.
34:59O you who believe, do not make those who take your religion lightly, and consider it worthless,
35:06from among those who were given the scripture before you and the other infidels, your allies,
35:12and keep your duty to Allah if you are true believers.
35:17And when you call the people to prayer, they take it lightly and consider it worthless.
35:22They do so because they are a people who do not understand.
35:27Say O people of the scripture, do you find fault with us only because we believe in Allah
35:34and in that which has been revealed to us, and in that which was revealed before us?
35:41Whereas most of you are disobedient to God.
35:45Say shall I inform you of those who shall receive from Allah a recompense worse than
35:52that of those who try to find fault with us?
35:56They are those whom Allah has deprived of his blessings, and upon whom he brought his
36:01displeasure and indignation, and of whom he has made as apes and swine, and who serve
36:08the transgressor, the devil.
36:11It is these who are indeed worse placed and farther astray from the right path.
36:19And when they come to you they say, we believe, while in fact they enter without faith and
36:26go out without it, and Allah knows best all they conceal.
36:32And you will find many of them vying one with another in committing sin and transgression,
36:39and being too much given to eat things forbidden.
36:43How evil is that which they practice!
36:46Why do not the teachers of divine knowledge and those learned in the law prohibit them
36:52their blasphemous talk and deeds, and their being too much given to eating things forbidden?
36:59Evil indeed is their machination.
37:03And the Jews said, Allah's hand is fettered from assisting the helpless Muslims.
37:11Fettered are their own hands from assisting the enemies of Islam, and they are deprived
37:17of blessings of Allah for what they said.
37:21Nay, the truth of the matter is that both his hands are wide open and free.
37:27He spends as he pleases, and that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will most
37:34surely increase many of them in inordinate rebellion and in disbelief.
37:41And we have kindled enmity and hatred among them till the day of resurrection.
37:47Every time they kindle a fire for war, Allah puts it out.
37:52But they strive to create disorder in the land, whereas Allah does not like the creators
37:58of disorder.
38:00And if the people of the scripture had only believed and guarded against evil, we would
38:05surely have absolved them of their sins, and we would surely make them enter gardens of
38:11bliss.
38:13If they had only observed the Torah and the Evangel, and that which has been revealed
38:20to them now from their Lord, they would surely have eaten of the good things from above them
38:25and from under their feet.
38:27Thus would have they enjoyed the boons of the heaven and the earth.
38:32Though there is amongst them a community who is moderate and of balanced mind, yet a large
38:39number of them are such that evil are their deeds.
38:44O Messenger, convey to the people the entire message that has been revealed to you from
38:50your Lord.
38:51And if you do it not, you have not at all conveyed his message as it ought to have been.
38:58And Allah will protect you from all the onslaughts of people on your life.
39:03Verily Allah will not let the disbelieving people have their way.
39:10O people of scripture, you stand nowhere unless you observe the Torah and the Evangel,
39:17and that which has now been revealed to you from your Lord.
39:21And certainly that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will increase many of
39:27them in ordinate rebellion and disbelief, so do not grieve for the disbelieving people.
39:34Surely those who have believed, and those who Judaized, and the Sabians and the Christians,
39:42whosoever believes in Allah and the last day, and does deeds of righteousness, they shall
39:49have no cause of fear, nor shall they ever grieve.
39:55Surely we took a covenant from the children of Israel, and we sent messengers to them.
40:00Every time there came to them a messenger, with that message which did not suit their
40:05fanciful desires, they defied him, so that some they treated as liars, and others they
40:11sought to kill.
40:14And they thought there would be no punishment for them, so they willfully became blind and
40:19deaf.
40:20Then they sought Allah's pardon.
40:23Then Allah turned to them, yet again many of them became blind and deaf.
40:29And Allah is watchful of what they do.
40:33Indeed they have disbelieved who say, Allah, he is the Messiah, son of Mary.
40:41Whereas the Messiah himself said, O children of Israel, worship Allah who is my Lord and
40:48your Lord.
40:50Surely whoso associates partners with Allah, him has Allah forbidden paradise, and his
40:56resort will be the fire, and these transgressors shall have no helpers.
41:03Most certainly they have disbelieved who say, Allah is the third of the three.
41:10But in fact there is no other, cannot be, and will never be one worthy of worship except
41:17one God.
41:19And if they refrain not from what they say, there shall certainly befall those who disbelieve
41:25from among them a grievous punishment.
41:29Will they not turn with repentance to Allah, and seek his protection, while Allah is great
41:35protector, ever merciful?
41:39The Messiah, son of Mary, was only a messenger.
41:44All the messengers have like him passed away before him.
41:49His mother was a highly truthful woman.
41:52They both used to eat food.
41:55See how we explain the arguments for their good, yet see how they are turned away from
42:00the truth.
42:02Say, do you worship beside Allah that which has no power over doing you any harm or good?
42:10As for Allah, he is the all-hearing, the all-knowing.
42:16Say, O people of the Scripture, do not exaggerate in the matter of your religion falsely and
42:24unjustly, nor follow the fancies of a people who had gone astray before you, and had led
42:30many astray, and now again who have strayed away from the right path.
42:36Those who disbelieved among the children of Israel were deprived of the blessings of God
42:43firstly by the tongue of David, and then by Jesus, son of Mary.
42:48That was so because they rebelled and used to transgress.
42:53They did not prohibit one another from hateful things they committed.
42:57How evil were the practices they used to follow!
43:01You will find many of them allying themselves with those who disbelieve.
43:06Evil is that which they have sent forward for themselves, to the effect that Allah is
43:11displeased with them, and in this punishment they shall abide.
43:17And if they had believed in Allah, and this perfect Prophet, and in what has been revealed
43:23to him, they would not have taken them for allies.
43:28But they do so, for many of them are disobedient.
