00:00Two people were confirmed dead after a barge and tugboat washed away the water in Marikina River last week.

00:08Two more are being searched by the authorities.

00:10Here is my first report.

00:16When the barge and tugboat washed away the water in Marikina River

00:21due to the heavy rain last week,

00:24there were casualties.

00:25The authorities immediately reported that all passengers were saved.

00:30The 47-year-old Chief Engineer Renato Santiago-Cortez

00:35was buried here in Santo Domingo Church.

00:38While they were being washed away by the heavy rain,

00:41the video was sent to Engineer Cortez

00:44by his wife Virginita who was in Masbate.

00:47But Cortez was not saved after jumping into the river from the tugboat.

00:52His wife could not believe what happened.

00:56I thought that when I was watching TV, my husband was not there.

01:01Because in the news, all the guards were saved.

01:08When I called the office, my husband was with the missing person.

01:13Almost when we found out that day, we did not eat anymore.

01:19When I saw my husband's face, he was like that.

01:28Virginita asked the company where her husband works

01:31to pay all the expenses for the burial,

01:34the return of Labi to Masbate,

01:36and the education of their five children.

01:39In Barangay Pineda in Pasig City,

01:41the people of Bureau of Fire Protection,

01:44Marine Fire Search and Rescue Pasig,

01:46found Labi, another driver known as Harold Yap.

01:49He was very strong last August.

01:51That was one of the reasons why he was having a hard time swimming

01:55and not being able to swim.

01:58That's why he was in the middle of drowning.

02:01Two more people were missing,

02:03Norman Aportadora and Carlos Bernado.

02:06The Philippine Coast Guard is now conducting a marine safety investigation

02:10to investigate the incident.

02:12And they are still looking for the floating asset

02:15to help in the search and rescue operation

02:17for the two missing drivers

02:19who drowned and jumped from a barge and tugboat in Marikina River.
