Regions across Australia’s east hit sub-zero temperatures

Forecasters are warning that the cold snap in Australia’s east will last for the rest of the week.

00:00Getting out of bed has been just that bit tougher this morning, as residents of both
00:05New South Wales and Queensland have woken up to sub-zero temperatures.
00:09At 6.30am, the coldest part of New South Wales was the Goulburn Airport in the Southern Tablelands,
00:14where the temperature reached minus 5.7 degrees Celsius.
00:18On the southwest slopes, the temperature at Yonge was minus 4.7 degrees, while further
00:23west at Tamora it was minus 4.8 degrees.
00:26Tamora's record low is minus 6.4.
00:30Other cold spots in the Darling Downs Granite Belt area included Oakey, Warwick and Dalby,
00:35all below minus 4.
00:38Soldiers were also feeling the chill with the Army Barracks at Kapuka on the outskirts
00:41of Wagga Wagga recording a temperature of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius.
00:47People across the state are reporting frozen taps and even colder feet, but some people
00:51seem immune to the cold here in Wagga Wagga.
01:10And while today's frosty start wasn't record breaking, the Bureau of Meteorology says tomorrow
01:14we may still see some records tumble.
