Acting Dir. Ronald Rowe went toe-to-toe with Sen. Josh Hawley Tuesday, and things got extremely heated when Hawley demanded to know who Rowe had fired over the security failures in Butler, PA.

00:00The phrase conspiracy theory is being, you're hearing it whispered and actually almost fully
00:07came out during a congressional hearing today where you had the acting director of the Secret
00:13Service and the deputy director of the FBI testifying before members of Congress about
00:20what happened on the day of the Donald Trump shooting or the assassination attempt.
00:24We're going to get into this, but I just want to say one thing.
00:27We're not going to propagate this conspiracy theory here because we don't know.
00:33But when you start listening to how this breaks down, you can clearly understand why some
00:38people believe that.
00:39Right.
00:40As I've frequently said, I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but I understand where that is coming
00:46from, where that sentiment is coming from as we get some answers and clearly not enough
00:52answers to really fill the void.
00:55And so when you don't have answers, people start to come up with conspiracies.
01:00Here is what Ronald Rowe, who is the now acting director of the Secret Service, had to say
01:05in one very heated exchange with Senator Josh Hawley, who basically Josh Hawley was saying,
01:12you've been on this job for three days.
01:14Who have you fired?
01:15Who have you fired?
01:16Because somebody needs to be fired.
01:17A former president was shot, so you need to be firing people.
01:23This was how Ronald Rowe responded.
01:24You're asking me, Senator, to completely make a rush to judgment about somebody failing.
01:29I acknowledge this was a failure of the Secret Service.
01:31Is it not prima facie that somebody has failed?
01:34A former president was shot.
01:35Sir, this could have been our Texas school book depository.
01:39I have lost sleep over that for the last 17 days, just like you have.
01:42Then fire somebody to hold them accountable.
01:45I will tell you, Senator, that I will not rush to judgment, that people will be held
01:49accountable, and I will do so with integrity and not rush to judgment and put people unfairly
01:57persecuted.
01:58I can't believe that you are unfairly persecuted for the people who are dead.
02:00Unfairly, sir.
02:01We have to be able to have a proper investigation into this, Senator.
02:06I got to say, Josh Hawley is, I'm sorry, guys, and again, I'm not being political here.
02:11I want to say this.
02:12Josh Hawley is so out of line here that you do have to look at who did what, and you just
02:19don't go to Congress and flex and say, oh, yeah, I fired people, because that's not the
02:25way it works.
02:26The guy's been on the job for three days, and to do that to him, he's just posturing,
02:31and it's disgusting.
02:33But beyond that, I got to say, when you listen to the deputy FBI director today, and he went
02:40through everything that happened with this shooter from days before and going to shooting
02:48ranges and the day of flying drones over there, and then more than 90 minutes before
02:54the attack, the Secret Service spotted him.
02:58They called him a suspect.
03:01He was photographed by the Secret Service.
03:03They were texting about him, and then they lose him, and then two minutes before, two
03:10minutes before, this guy climbs up on the building.
03:13There are 100 people saying, there's a guy up on that building.
03:22Two police officers see it.
03:24One guy climbs up.
03:26He gets, he has to drop, because the guy has a gun, and when he drops, he radios.
03:31There's still 30 seconds before the shooting.
03:33But this is one of the things that came out today, where they talked about that radio
03:37communications, and we talked about this a couple of days after, wondering how come they're
03:43not on the same channel.
03:44But they were.
03:45No, what they said today was that everyone wasn't on the same channel, which was a failure.
03:50That's one of the failures.
03:52How were they not on the same channel as these police officers, so that the Secret Service
03:56didn't get the information from the police the way they should have?
04:01That's true, but the Secret Service, A, knew.
04:03They also had eyes on the guy.
04:05That's the thing.
04:06We've got these sharpshooters behind Trump that are looking right in that direction.
04:12A hundred people, 30 seconds before, a hundred people are scattering, screaming.
04:19The guy's got a gun.
04:20The guy's got a gun.
04:22They're pointing at the Secret Service.
04:23They're pointing at the guy in the roof, and for 30 seconds, nobody in the Secret Service
04:29says, get Trump out of here.
04:30You know what has to happen?
04:31Crazy.
04:32We need to hear the communications.
04:35We need to hear all of the radio communications.
04:37I don't know about that, Charles and Harvey.
04:39I agree with you about Josh Hawley grandstanding and so forth, but you can't listen to the
04:43Deputy Director of the FBI detailing that meticulous timeline and not think that every
04:47step of this, from the 90 minutes when he was spotted, there were failures all along
04:51the way.
04:52There does need to be some pretty swift accountability for this.
04:54I don't think a rash judgment, and they should go through the investigation, but heads have
04:58to roll when you have failures over 90 minutes when a man climbs up on a roof and takes a
05:02shot at a former president.

05:11because how was this able to happen?
05:13It just absolutely makes no sense that the Secret Service was able to drop the ball like
05:17this.
05:18To see this person, to deem him suspicious, for everybody to be like, hey, hey, hey, somebody
05:23on the roof, and for him to still be able to act out his assassination attempt, something
05:28is just not right in the water.
05:29No kidding.
