001 [Hands-on] Creating one or more billing accounts & Link projects

00:00Let's see how we can create one or more billing accounts.
00:07So when you create the very first time, either you have a free trial account or you upgraded
00:13your account.
00:14In my case, I have a free trial account.
00:17So while creation of free trial account, there is always one project got created.
00:23My first project and with this first project, there is always billings are associated.
00:29So if you want to go to billing section, you can navigate from your navigation menu, billing
00:37and you can see there is always one billing account already got created and those billing
00:44account has been connected with your projects.
00:48So let's not go to every single tab as of now.
00:53And I'm just going into a very last one account management.
00:58So inside the account management, there are two projects got listed.
01:02My first project and Learn GCP AC.
01:05That means these two projects have been associated with our billing account.
01:11Now on the left hand side, you can see that if you go to the managed billing account,
01:17all those billing account got created has been listed here.
01:21So billing account name is MyBillingAccount, this is a billing account ID.
01:27With this billing account has been active and my credit card also got associated with
01:33this billing account.
01:34There are two projects has been associated.
01:36If you want to remove some project, you can always do it.
01:39But let me show you the process how we can create another billing account.
01:43So let me just click on create account.
01:47And that is a very straightforward process.
01:49Like let's just give the name like MyBillingAccount1 or let's say DemoBillingACT, alright.
02:00From which country you belongs to?
02:02So obviously, I'm from India, you can always choose your respective country.
02:07We have a business, the billing account will pay for.
02:10So we are going to pay for Google Cloud Platform, not for Map Platform because that may be little
02:16different independent identity.
02:18So let's just continue.
02:21And with another billing account, again, you need to put your credit card.
02:27That with this billing account, what is your financial credential?
02:31So you can always use the same one also.
02:34You can always change some payment profiles and submit and enable billing.
02:41So in this way, you can create your another billing account, a DemoBillingAccount.
02:47So let me just press submit and enable billing.
02:53So depending on, let me provide my, which financial company's credit card you are using,
03:04there are some authentication matter to verify that it's your credit card and for that they
03:11will charge some very minute amount of money.
03:14So let me just continue and maybe some OTP will come at my end.
03:20So let me just verify with those OTP.
03:25And let me just press submit.
03:27So it is setting up my billing account.
03:31And I guess again, I have to submit and enable billing.
03:36Oops, there are some issues with the payment form error, but that's OK.
03:43Maybe the same credit card I have used with this another billing account also.
03:47That's why this happens.
03:49But this way you can always create your another billing account.
03:53Now if you go to the second billing account and inside the account management, there is
04:00no project has been linked.
04:02But if you go to my billing account, there is a one project or two project got listed.
04:08So individual project, you can always remove it from here like a disabled billing and change
04:14the billing.
04:15So let's say currently my Learn GCP SE project has been linked with my billing account.
04:22And if I want to change it, so I can just simply change it, but I don't have other billing
04:26account.
04:27So if you have other billing account, you can always change it from here.
04:31So let me just confirm it and let's see what it says.
04:34Yeah, we don't have any other billing account.
04:38Now let's say I'll create one more project.
04:43So to create a project, let's just select from top panel bar, new project.
04:52Let's say demo project or billing demo project.
04:59Yes.
05:00And let me just create it.
05:02Now when you create a new project, if you have just one billing account, by default
05:06those billing account will be associated with your newly created project.
05:11And if there is no billing account got associated, in that case, you can just simply go and attach
05:18your billing account with your newly created project.
05:23Because if there is no billing account has been associated with your projects, that means
05:29you just cannot provision any kind of resource, you just cannot keep using any kind of Google
05:35service inside that project.
05:37Now what we'll do first, we'll go to billing again.
05:42And we have my billing account, obviously, account management.
05:48And you can see I have now three projects.
05:52So billing demo projects.
05:55So we have we can even disable billing.
05:57So let me just disable billing and let's see what happens with my newly created projects.
06:03So those projects gone.
06:06Now if I go to home, let's say if I try to provision some kind of resources, because
06:13with this project, there is no billing account associated.
06:17So let's see whether Google allow me to create a new virtual machine inside this billing
06:23account or not.
06:24So it says that you can use this computer engine after enable the billing, because we
06:28haven't enabled the billing for this particular project.
06:30But moment I change, let's say another project, my first project.
06:35Now in case of my first project, the billing account already connected.
06:39So Google will allow me to create a new virtual machine.
06:43But in case of billing demo project, it won't allow me to create it.
06:47So in that case, you can just simply click on enable billing and it will enable billing
06:53for this particular project.
06:55So let me just set count.
06:59And if I just go back to my billing, it will take little time to associate, I guess.
07:07Yeah.
07:08And again, I have to enable API for this computer engine also, but we don't want to provision
07:12any kind of resources.
07:13Anyhow, it is, it will allow me to create those resources now inside this billing demo
07:19project.
07:20But if I go to account management.
07:24So now the third project also came.
07:27Alright.
07:28But now we have just one billing account only because we are not able to create those billing
07:33account.
07:34In your case, if you use some other credit card, you won't be having any kind of problems.
07:40Might be the same credit card I'm using for billing account.
07:44That might be some issue, but not necessary that net may be always the issues.
07:49Alright.
07:50So let me just walk through again about this GCP Associate Cloud Engineer.
08:05So Associate Cloud Engineer certification, I just want to highlight that in this particular
08:12video, there are many more things we have covered.
08:16So let me just go to exam guide of Associate Cloud Engineer and you can see we have seen
08:23that creating one or more billing accounts we have done and we have seen how we can linking
08:31projects to the billing account also, how we can disable some particular projects to
08:35the billing account, how we can even again link those projects to those billing account
08:41and we have a provision to even change our billing account for different or individual
08:47projects.
08:48So, in this video, we have covered these two exam objectives, like creating one or more
08:53billing accounts and another one is a linking project to the billing account.
