00:35As well as a town full of mascots and business opportunities,
00:39he'll encounter an island full of mysteries and strange townsfolk
00:43that live in this quiet rural corner of Japan.
00:48Can our hero fight his fate and create a gloriously successful mascot business?
00:54Or will he succumb to a dreadful curse in a forgotten town?
01:03In Promised Mascot Agency, you play as Michizane Sugawara,
01:08the top lieutenant in the Shimazu family, a Yakuza clan in the south of Japan.
01:15Michi and his oath brother, Toki, are ambushed by a rival crime syndicate.
01:21Michi is forced to make an impossible choice
01:24and chooses the life of Toki, over the 12 billion yen he was supposed to protect.
01:43After losing the fortune of their ruling family,
01:45matriarch Shimazu fakes Michi's death and sends him to run the family's last remaining business
01:52in an attempt to repay his debt.
01:55This business is a bankrupt mascot agency in a dying town.

02:02As if Michi didn't have enough to deal with,
02:05the backwater town of Kasumachi is home to a dreadful curse
02:10that hunts down Yakuza men, killing them slowly and painfully.
02:17Fortunately, he has a friend in this hour of need.
02:22Pinky is a mascot herself and is here to help.
02:26Pinky tried her hand at running the agency before
02:29and will guide Michi through the trials and tribulations
02:32of running an unfamiliar business in an unfamiliar town.
02:37She might have some deeply rooted anger issues,
02:40but her heart is in the right place.
02:44The first thing Michi needs to do is to recruit a mascot.
02:49Mascots are living creatures that were born from the earth at the dawn of time.
02:55They live alongside humans, but aren't always treated fairly.
03:01Some mascots have special abilities that make them popular.
03:06Maybe they can breathe fire, fly, or transform.
03:11However, the only mascots left in Kasumachi
03:14are the ones that have struggled to find work elsewhere
03:17and most of them lack any exciting abilities.
03:23The first recruitable mascot that Michi meets is Tofu,
03:27a squishy cube of tofu who is always crying.
03:31Tofu has heard that the agency is open again
03:34and has come to meet his old friend Pinky
03:37to see if there is a new opportunity for him.
03:41When you recruit a mascot, you'll choose which perks to offer them.
03:46Offering them perks like a higher profit share from jobs,
03:50regular bonuses, and extra time off
03:53will increase their happiness and improve their job performance.
04:04Now that Tofu has been recruited,
04:07Michi needs to start finding work for his mascots.
04:11Osamu Endo runs the town's shopping association with his wife.
04:16Endo and Pinky have a troubled history after a previous mascot event went wrong.
04:22Some attendees still have flashbacks.
04:26Now that the agency is under new management,
04:29Michi manages to convince Endo to start hosting mascot events again.
04:35That's step one.
04:39Now that Michi has an available job courtesy of Endo,
04:43he can send Tofu out to work
04:45and begin Promise Mascot Agency's rise to fortune and glory.
04:52Unfortunately, things don't always go to plan
04:55and mascots often find themselves in trouble on jobs.
05:00There is only so much that the trusty mascot handler, Shiori, can do.
05:05So Michi will need to step in and arrange some help.

05:12Tofu has encountered the bane of every mascot's existence.
05:16A normal-sized door!
05:19He is stuck and the event is about to become a disaster.
05:23Is nothing sacred?
05:26Here is where Michi can help by sending in mascot support heroes.
05:31Local people that offer to help mascots
05:33by giving them the power they need to overcome challenges.
05:38These heroes are represented by cards.
05:41Michi only has two hero cards right now, Shiori and Pinky.
05:46Playing their cards deals damage to the door's health bar
05:49and allows a mascot to defeat it.
05:52As you gain more cards and progress through the game,
05:55these battles between mascot and catastrophe
05:58will become more complex, requiring careful card usage.
06:03The event has been saved thanks to the heroes!
06:07Tofu has overcome the door.
06:09Love wins again!
06:11When a mascot completes a job, the agency earns money and fans
06:16and the mascot takes a cut of the money earned.
06:19The rest goes to Michi and his life-crushing debt.
06:23That job was a success, but things are only going to get harder from here.
06:29Michi needs to find more heroes.
06:33Captain Sign is a local hero that can help by selling Michi items.
06:38He himself is a mascot support hero
06:41and he also sells hero cards for Bottle Ningen and Yamaim.
06:46Now Michi has some money from the job Tofu did,
06:49he can buy both of those and recruit Captain Sign as well.
06:55He has a lot more hero cards for his arsenal
06:57and can help mascots on harder and more lucrative jobs.
07:06The occasional job promoting a bookstore
07:08isn't going to earn back 12 billion yen anytime soon.
07:13But there are a lot of business owners in town that may want to give Michi work.
07:18Mamasan runs the only bar in town
07:21and is a shoulder to cry on for the miserable locals.
07:25He will become a valuable ally in the fight against the corruption in Kasumachi.
07:31For now though, Michi's focus is on getting some more work
07:35and recruiting Mamasan as a hero.
07:38Thankfully, Mamasan is cool
07:40and saw the value in using mascots to promote his bar.
07:44Michi has another job location!
07:47Michi sends Tofu out on another job
07:50and hopes it goes better than the last time.
07:53Surely nothing will go wrong?
07:56Oh well.
08:00As well as recruiting mascots and sending them out on jobs,
08:03Michi can expand his business with a merchandise crane game
08:08and subcontract mascot work to other towns.
08:11The open world of Kasumachi is full of opportunities to upgrade his truck,
08:16smash the old order,
08:18do cool powerslides,
08:19and uncover a conspiracy that could destroy the underworld of Japan.
08:26Michi may have been exiled, but he is not alone.
08:30Redemption isn't easy.
08:32But when you have friends and family by your side,
08:35what is one measly ancient curse?
