00:00Mr. President, the Secretary, the Security Council must unequivocally condemn Israel
00:06for its horrible terrorist act as a most serious violation of international law and the Charter
00:12of the United Nations, as well as a grave breach of Iran's sovereignty and national security.
00:19Furthermore, the Security Council should take immediate step to hold Israel accountable for
00:25this act of aggression. This includes considering the imposition of sanctions and other measures
00:33that are necessary to prevent further violation and to signal that the Israeli malevolent
00:39activities will not be tolerated by the international community.
00:42We must first stress the rank hypocrisy on display here today. This meeting has been
00:49called for by the world's number one sponsor of terrorism, responsible for the most horrifying
00:55barbarism across the region and the globe, the Islamic Republic of Iran. We, on our side,
01:01have a duty to ensure the safe and secure return of Israelis to their homes in northern Israel,
01:06and we will continue to act to defend all the people of Israel. However, Hezbollah, Hamas,
01:12and Houthis can only expel their venom thanks to the head of the snake.
01:17This morning, Israel committed an act of terror by assassinating
01:28Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, violating international law,
01:37violating the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
01:43We call on the Security Council to send an unambiguous message to Hezbollah
01:48by standing with Israel as it defends itself against Hezbollah's repeated attacks. Second,
01:55it is best not to speculate on the impact that recent events may have on peace and security
02:01in the Middle East. A broader war is neither imminent nor inevitable, although the opportunistic
02:08attacks by Iran and its network of terrorist proxies and partners across the region have
02:13repeatedly brought us closer to a regional conflict.
