Palestinian swimmer Yazan Al Bawwab's sole Olympic race lasted less than a minute but just being in the water was a statement in itself.

00:00Hi, I'm Yazan Abu-Ab, the Palestinian Olympic swimmer.
00:03I'm very, very proud to be here to raise my flag in the Paris Olympic Games.
00:08This is a moment for Palestine and for Gaza and for all Palestinians across the world
00:14to show that we're able to play sports, to show that we're also human beings
00:18and to show that we also can compete under the harsh realities back home.
00:25And I'm going to do everything I can to raise my flag in a country that doesn't recognize us
00:29and show the world that we should have a country and we should also be respected as human beings.
