00:00Hi guys, here's some easy to follow tips for beginner mountain bikers. First of all, let's
00:04make sure we have the proper equipment. Find a good fitting helmet and gloves and knee pads are
00:09recommended. Make sure you have a well-maintained bike with good functioning brakes and gripping
00:14tires. Make sure you find trails within your own ability. Difficulty levels are marked as
00:19green for beginner zones, blue for intermediate and black for advanced riders. The next step that
00:25is really important is knowing your controls and body position. Back brake, right hand, front brake,
00:30left hand, modulate your braking. Drop your dropper seat post down when going over an obstacle or off
00:36a drop. This creates a lot more bike and body separation. We want to have our pedals level,
00:41weight equally divided and then standing up when going off of a drop or a jump. If we're standing
00:47up, we're creating a lot more bike and body separation and we can be dynamic on the bike.
00:51Once you feel comfortable with those skills, you can challenge yourself and progress to something
00:55bigger like a jump or a drop. When doing a drop, always remind yourself, maintain your speed,
01:00coming in nice and tall body position, dropper post down and we don't panic brake. Maintain
01:05that speed coming off of it and absorb the landing. Good luck with practicing everybody
01:09and see you out on the trails.
