00:00Never mind the expensive airfares and competition tickets and steep hotel rates, Yap Ken Voon
00:10and Chow Kai Yuen are going all out to pursue the dream of theirs, and Malaysians, to win
00:15the country's first gold medal in the Olympic Games.
00:22The two ardent fans arrived in Paris on Wednesday night and went straight to Adidas Arena the
00:27next morning to support the Malaysian badminton team.
00:31We feel very happy to travel here to cheer for our athletes and we are very happy.
00:41What I can say is speechless. We won three matches today. We are totally speechless.
00:50Their estimated spending throughout their week-long trip will total up to RM20,000 per
00:55person. But they said they do not mind splashing the cash and putting all their energy on such
01:00a meaningful trip.
01:02I already bought the ticket for the competition ticket is around RM6,900. For the air ticket
01:10is around RM3,200 and then for the accommodation is around RM1,800. So total up that I already
01:19paid is around RM12,000. Not include the whole ticket that we need to stand by around
01:24RM4,500 if Malaysian athletes go to the quarter-final, semi-final or final.
01:32To be honest, money don't have, you can fight back. If you're tired, you can rest. But going
01:38to stadium together with the athletes to fight together to win our first gold medal is priceless.
01:48The duo are among the most vocal and charismatic supporters on the Malaysian sports scene.
01:53And they spent about a year to materialise their Olympics plans. They said they did not
01:58want to miss the Olympics this time after being ditched by the COVID-19 pandemic in
02:03the previous edition in Tokyo.
02:05Actually, this plan is start from the Tokyo Olympic. I supposed to go to Tokyo Olympic
02:12But unfortunately, that time COVID-19, you know, the Japan government is not allowed
02:18all the supporters to come to Japan. They only allow the athletes and the official,
02:23the staff. So I really sad that time. Actually, this is my dream. I want to be one of the
02:30Malaysian supporters that see our athletes winning the first gold medal. For me, if this
02:36happens, I will be very proud.
02:39Initially, I was planning to go alone. But I was met Woon during the Malaysian Masters
02:46last year and asked him, are you going? Then maybe we can start, you know, plan and whether
02:50we can share in the hotel stay or the transport or everything.
02:54Actually, I'm really grateful that I know Joe will go to Paris. We have the, you know,
03:00synchro voice. So I think it's not a big problem for me with him because we want to
03:08combine our unique voice. We hope that the athletes, when they're in court, they will
03:14like fire up, right? When they hear our voice in stadium.
