00:00New data has revealed the top 10 best and worst rated JZ Weatherspoons in the UK.
00:06The research conducted by QR Code Generator analysed a list from the Weatherspoons website of the chain's pubs and hotels across the UK to establish which ones are the best rated by the average total percentage of excellent reviews on Google.
00:21Of more than 800 pubs in the UK, one on Merseyside has made the top 10.
00:27Coming in at number 8 is the Prince Well in Heswell and I'm heading there today.
00:32I'm not usually a lover of chains but I went into this with an open mind.
00:38The pub itself is spacious and looks fairly modern.
00:41Even though I arrived at lunchtime, though it was busy, there were plenty of tables available.
00:45With the clouds looking suspicious, I decided to sit inside but they have covered and open air seating outside at the front.
00:53As I was driving, I opted for a Guinness Zero.
00:55I was surprised when they presented me with a can and a pint glass but I don't think I did too badly on my poll.
01:02To satisfy my appetite, I went for the all-day brunch which comes with two sausages, bacon, two fried eggs, chips and baked beans.
01:10There is also a vegetarian option available, though I did go for the meat option today, minus the beans and plus some black pudding.
01:19The food came out in 15 minutes.
01:21For a generous portion of food and a drink at a price to rival that of a meal deal, I can see why this chain is so popular with its patrons.
01:29So when was the last time you went to the pub and was it a chain or was it an independent?
01:34It was a chain. Do you want me to name it or Wetherspoons?
01:39I think it was probably Wetherspoons.
01:41However, I endorse Wetherspoons quite simply because two of my children are autistic.
01:48So what we need as a family is to go somewhere where we know what exactly is on the menu.
01:53The last time I went to the pub was watching the last season Liverpool game and it was really good.
02:04And where was that?
02:06It was in the 80s.
02:07An independent pub is great. It's quite simply because of the fact that you can often get different types of beers.
02:16And you can try ones from the locality.
02:19I've been to a lot of pubs in West Midlands.
02:22Chain pubs.
02:24And then some original owners.
02:27Brewers Firth.
02:29Although the Prance Well has only received just over 55% excellent reviews, it's been praised for its good choice of food and beer and nice service.
02:38Renamed and reopened in 2022 after an extensive refurbishment by Wetherspoons.
02:43And it does seem very popular with the locals.
02:45The pub's named after a large well that was used to serve the area and was located nearby.
02:49The former telephone exchange became a pub in 2007.
02:52Named the Ravenscroft, Chambers Bar and Grill and then the exchange before becoming the Prance Well.
