00:00What is that? Is that what it looks like?
00:02Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top 20 things censored
00:08on Disney Plus.
00:09If you want to stay on top, you have to think outside the box.
00:13Oh my god, I can't believe what I just witnessed.
00:16I think I changed my mind.
00:18For this list, we'll be looking at various scenes from movies and TV shows that are
00:22censored on Disney Plus. Which of these do you find the most jarring? Let us know in the comments.
00:2820. Accidental Adult Content – The Santa Clause
00:33Intentional or not, this line from The Santa Clause was the reason for a lot of concern
00:38from parents back in the 90s.
00:40What are you talking about?
00:42Why, you ask? Well, a seemingly harmless joke about an adult entertainment phone line
00:47accidentally used a real number in the script, leading curious kids to call the number and,
00:53well, you get the idea.
00:55Here's Neil's mom's number in case.
00:591-800-SPANK-ME. I know that number.
01:04And a Merry Christmas to you, too.
01:07Parents were not happy, and the scene was edited on both home video and Disney Plus.
01:12It's still there, but the characters don't reference the number at all anymore,
01:16and the scene goes on as if the joke never existed.
01:19You don't want kids running around using their imaginations.
01:2119. Isis – Hannah Montana
01:24Serving as a parody of Madonna, Isis appears in the second season
01:28Hannah Montana episode, Yet Another Side of Me.
01:31She's a singer known for frequently reinventing her look,
01:35and by the end of the episode, she steals Hannah Montana's.
01:38You want to know how I survived all these years?
01:42Change. Constant change.
01:45New looks, new sound. You have to know what's next and do it first.
01:49While this character was named Isis in the original airing,
01:52she was subsequently renamed Ice in later repeats,
01:55and this censored version of the episode is the one found on Disney Plus.
02:00Oh, I see. Isis is here.
02:05Oops.
02:06It's very likely that Disney wanted to dissociate from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria,
02:11an organization that has been accused of various crimes against humanity.
02:1618. Bust Reduction – Knickknack
02:19A crudely animated short film from 1989, Knickknack was produced by Pixar and directed
02:25by John Lasseter, who would later direct the first two Toy Story films.
02:30Found within the short are various knickknacks with rather large busts.
02:34But when the short film was re-released alongside Finding Nemo in 2003,
02:39the animation was altered to reduce their bust size.
02:43A mermaid knickknack was also seen with starfish pasties,
02:46but this was later changed into a seashell bra.
02:50It's this altered version that can be found on Disney Plus.
02:53However, Lasseter was quick to place the blame on himself rather than the show.
02:57He said,
02:5917. The King of Disney Easter Eggs – The Lion King
03:03It has long been suggested that the Lion King contains a rather cheeky easter egg.
03:08The legend goes that when Simba flops to the ground and kicks up a cloud of dust,
03:12the word sex forms in the individual dust motes.
03:16An animator for the film named Tom Sito acknowledged the inclusion of the easter egg,
03:21although he claims that it spells SFX as a negative sign.
03:25He said,
03:2618. The King of Disney Easter Eggs – The Lion King
03:29The Lion King is the first film in Disney's history to feature an Easter egg.
03:34It's the first film in Disney's history to feature an Easter egg.
03:37It's the first film in Disney's history to feature an Easter egg.
03:40He said,
03:4119. The King of Disney Easter Eggs – The Lion King
03:44Simba acknowledged the inclusion of the easter egg,
03:47although he claims that it spells SFX as a nod to the effects animators.
03:52But it doesn't really matter now, because modern viewers can't see it anyway.
03:56Hey, Pumbaa! Not in front of the kids!
03:58Oh, sorry.
03:59This scene was altered for the 2002 IMAX re-release,
04:03and all further home and streaming releases have retained the censored scene.
04:0816. The Fez Symbol – Gravity Falls
04:12In the original run of Gravity Falls, the character of Grunkle Stan
04:16wears a fez adorned with a fish-shaped figure.
04:19Within the canon of the show, this is the symbol of the royal order of the Holy Mackerel,
04:24to which Grunkle Stan belongs.
04:26Here we go!
04:27However, the symbol bears a slight resemblance to that of the Floridian Masonic Society,
04:33the Shriners.
04:34As a result, the symbol was removed for the show's streaming on Disney+,
04:38much to the frustration of series creator Alex Hirsch.
04:41If only they knew how evil he really was!
04:44He penned a rather harsh tweet after learning of the change,
04:47stating that it was removed for, quote,
04:49no reason, and that Disney, quote,
04:51can't keep track of what they're pretending to be concerned about this week.
04:55Such accusations!
04:57Number 15. Max Gets a Little Too Close to Roxanne – A Goofy Movie
05:02Those watching a goofy movie on Disney+, will quickly notice a bit of censorship,
05:07as it occurs within the first 30 seconds.
05:09The movie's opening dream sequence sees Roxanne flying towards Max
05:14and landing in his outstretched arms.
05:21In the original version, Max's nose is squished into Roxanne's falling chest,
05:26but this was supposedly deemed problematic by Disney
05:29and altered for both the streaming and recent Blu-ray releases.
05:35In the Disney+, the distance between Max's nose and Roxanne's bust was increased,
05:40meaning Roxanne lands further away from Max's face,
05:44and his nose doesn't bump into her chest.
05:51Number 14. Duck You – Clock Cleaners
05:55Often regarded as one of Disney's greatest shorts,
05:57Clock Cleaners runs a swift eight minutes and was released in the fall of 1937,
06:02featuring Walt Disney himself as the voice of Mickey Mouse.
06:08One scene sees Donald Duck fighting with a mainspring,
06:11asking the question,
06:12says who,
06:13and calling it a snake in the grass.
06:16However, Donald's goofy voice makes the words hard to discern,
06:19and some people believed he was swearing.
06:22Both instances were altered for a 2001 DVD release,
06:30and the Disney Plus release has retained the changes.
06:33The says who has been significantly cleaned up to be more discernible,
06:37and the snake in the grass line has been completely replaced by a slew of angry shouts.
06:52Number 13. Throwing an Acorn – The Emperor's New Groove
06:57While it wasn't a major commercial success,
06:59The Emperor's New Groove has found a new generation of fans,
07:02thanks primarily to the funny internet memes.
07:07However, new fans are not getting the movie in its full intended glory.
07:11In the original version of the film,
07:13an irritated Kuzco throws a small rock at Pacha's head.
07:17In future Blu-ray releases and the Disney Plus streaming release,
07:20this small rock was changed into an acorn.
07:22It's not really a big deal, and it still has the same comedic effect.
07:31But if Disney is that concerned with violence,
07:33why didn't they just make it an acorn in the first place?
07:36Number 12. A Whole New Movie – Aladdin
07:40The Disney Plus release has been a huge success,
07:43a whole new movie – Aladdin.
07:45The Disney Plus version of Aladdin opens with a content warning,
07:48quote,
07:49"...acknowledging its harmful impact."
07:51And while they claim that nothing has been altered,
07:53that doesn't seem to be the case.
07:55The opening song has retained changes that were made for the DVD,
07:59swapping out the lyrics
08:00where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face.
08:04It's barbaric, but hey, it's home.
08:07to where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense.
08:11Those changes were made after the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee
08:16criticized Disney for cultural insensitivity.
08:19Furthermore, Aladdin's whispered line,
08:21good tiger, take off and go,
08:23was removed as well because people thought he was seeing something much worse.
08:27Number 11. Messed Up Censorship – Free Solo
08:31Found on Disney Plus is the Academy Award-winning documentary,
08:34Free Solo,
08:35which details Alex Honnold's attempt to climb Yosemite's El Capitan
08:39without the help of ropes or harnesses.
08:42In the original version, Honnold utters the line,
08:45I don't know, so I've maybe not thought about this since 2009.
08:47Like, each year since 2009, I've been like, this is the year.
08:50And then each year I climb it and I'm like, this isn't the year.
08:53This line was completely re-dubbed for the Disney Plus release,
08:56changing effed up to messed up.
08:59Later in the documentary, the word goddamn has been removed when Honnold states,
09:03That is the goddamn warrior spirit.
09:05changing it to just, this is the warrior spirit.
09:08Free Solo was originally given a PG-13 rating for
09:11Brief Strong Language,
09:13and it seems like it was just a little too strong for Disney's liking.
09:17Number 10. A Musical for the Whole Family – Hamilton
09:21In the summer of 2020, the cultural phenomenon that is Hamilton came exclusively to Disney Plus,
09:26only fans were quick to notice that some things were a little different.
09:30Primarily, two F-words that were removed from the musical in order to avoid an R-rating.
09:35The first comes in Yorktown, The World Turned Upside Down,
09:38when an utterance of the F-word from Hercules Mulligan was muted.
09:47The second is in Washington On Your Side,
09:49when a reversing record sound has been placed over a nasty word
09:53harmonized by Jefferson, Madison and Burr.
09:56It may come as quite a shock to Hamilton purists
09:58who have listened to the soundtrack 10,000 times,
10:01but hey, it's for the kids.
10:06Number 9. Horseplay – Bluey
10:11We open this entry with a question.
10:14What could a program geared towards toddlers possibly have content-wise
10:18that could warrant censoring?
10:20Would you believe poop?
10:22Yep.
10:26There's a scene in the first season episode Markets that features a horse doing his business
10:30after being pet by a group of kids.
10:33On Disney+, the scene now only shows the horse wagging his tail.
10:43Elsewhere, there was also the temporary removal of two episodes titled Teasing and Flat Pack.
10:55Parental pressure and complaints led to it being excluded in the series run on Disney+.
11:00Number 8. Don't Try This At Home – Lilo & Stitch
11:04Ask any child of the 80s which episode of Punky Brewster they remember,
11:08and the odds are pretty good that they'll reference that one time
11:11Cherry Johnson got locked in an old refrigerator.
11:19Maybe this explains the inspiration for 2002's Lilo & Stitch,
11:22where Lilo originally chooses a dryer for her hiding place.
11:30The version on Disney Plus has since been changed in quite possibly the weirdest way.
11:40The dryer was turned into a cupboard of sorts,
11:42with the top of a pizza box acting as the dryer's door.
11:48This was presumably changed so that kids wouldn't get the idea to try this stunt themselves.
11:53Or, you know, they could just go back and watch some Punky instead.
11:57Number 7. No Joking Matter – That's So Raven
12:01Some of the edits in this list have been pretty silly or funny,
12:04but there's nothing humorous about the implications behind this joke.
12:13There's a reference to R. Kelly made during the episode There Goes The Bride,
12:17when Raven says she's 15 to a crowd who believes she's getting married to an older man.
12:27The joke was taken out when That's So Raven migrated to Disney Plus.
12:35The episode Driving Miss Lazy also features a loud conversation where
12:39some viewers claim to have heard Raven drop a disparaging racial remark.
12:56The episode has since been edited with the conversation mixed
13:02so that no real dialogue can be discerned.
13:04Number 6. Smoking – The Muppet Christmas Carol
13:08The removal and censoring of tobacco imagery is something comparatively
13:12recent in the world of movies and television.
13:15It was never a big deal for protagonists to be seen smoking in the past,
13:19but today's entertainment requires a warning advisory if that sort of content is included.
13:27The Muppet Christmas Carol, available on Disney Plus,
13:31no longer includes the street choir conductors smoking a cigarette,
13:35with the offending nicotine stick having since been digitally removed.
13:46Any Jim Henson fans wishing to see the unedited image as part of the film as a whole
13:51should either check the recent Blu-ray version of the film or dig out their old VHS.
13:59Number 5. Pick a Change, Any Change – The Simpsons
14:03There have actually been a bunch of changes made to The Simpsons on Disney Plus,
14:07with some episodes having gone missing altogether.
14:10Specifically, the famous episode that featured the King of Pop Michael Jackson as a guest star
14:15is gone, perhaps due to the controversy behind the documentary Leaving Neverland.
14:21A joke at the Catholic Church's expense in the episode,
14:31Sunday Cruddy Sunday, now omits the word Catholic altogether,
14:35opting for the use of just the word Church.
14:46Also, the episode Gorgeous Grandpa leaves out the Harlem Shake
14:49parody during the opening couch gag. We're not too sure what that's about though.
14:54Maybe they figured we wouldn't remember what it was? Leave your theories in the comments.
15:04Number 4. No Butts Allowed – Splash
15:07Disney is a family-friendly company. We all know this. We also know, however,
15:12that the company experimented with some awesome, more PG-rated fare back in the 70s and 80s,
15:18such as The Black Hole, Midnight Madness, and The Black Cauldron.
15:32However, this doesn't mean that Disney Plus is about to allow nudity on their watch.
15:37However brief. If you're thinking of the movie Splash, you'd be right on.
15:42The version on the streaming service has added a mound of what we can assume is CGI hair,
15:50or fur as one Twitter user puts it, to Daryl Hanna's nude behind.
15:55Is this computer-generated cover-up distracting? Why yes, yes it is. In fact,
16:00it seems to draw more attention to Hanna's body than if it had just been left unedited.
16:04Number 3. PG-13 – Adventures in Babysitting
16:12The 80s were a different time. We've already made mention of changing social norms,
16:18how they affect censorship, and what's considered acceptable with regards to film ratings.
16:23The 80s classic Adventures in Babysitting was rated PG-13,
16:36which means that it was technically allowed one F-bomb,
16:40but don't go looking for that iconic line on the Disney Plus cut.
16:43Instead, Elizabeth Shue says something about not fooling with the babysitter,
16:54which is just lame if you ask us. Incidentally, a homophobic remark early on in the film was
17:00changed to the word weirdo, but this edit goes way back to when the film was originally shown
17:05on television. Obviously, it's also been kept that way for the streaming platform.
17:16Number 2. Casting Couch Credits – Toy Story 2
17:20If you were a parent who stayed for the credits of Toy Story 2 when it was first released in
17:24theaters, you may have been surprised by the crassness of a particular end credit scene.
17:30It made an implicit reference to the endemic Hollywood practice of aspiring actors and
17:36actresses being pressured into doing favors in exchange for a role. There's nothing funny about
17:43it, which perhaps explains why this joke was cut on later versions of Toy Story 2. During the
17:48original credits, Sneaky Pete insinuates that he can get a pair of Barbie dolls roles in Toy Story
17:543, presumably for something in return. We get dark humor, but this is definitely pretty skeezy,
18:03especially for a movie aimed at kids.

18:11our latest videos. You'll have the option to be notified for occasional videos or all of them.
18:16If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications.
18:22Number 1. A History of Edits – Who Framed Roger Rabbit
18:26A whole lot has been edited from the original run of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. For starters,
18:32Baby Herman raising his middle finger has been removed. And by this, we mean it was digitally
18:41painted over. Remember animated icon Betty Boop and her revealing dress slip over at the Ink and
18:47Paint Club? Thankfully, saved from prying eyes. Then there's that infamous reveal when Jessica
19:00Rabbit takes a tumble out of Benny the Cab. That's also been made more kid-friendly on Disney+.
19:08In actuality, all of these changes were from before-streaming platforms,
19:12meaning that you're gonna have to treasure those old Laserdiscs, VHS tapes, or simply your memories
19:18if you're on the hunt for an unedited version of this classic. Do you agree with our picks?
