00:00The government's salary will increase next year following President Bongbong Marcos' signing of the legislation.

00:07Bona Kino reports.

00:11President Bongbong Marcos added the Executive Order No. 64 to increase the salary of government employees.

00:19The updated salary schedule includes all the civilian government personnel in the executive, legislative, judicial branches,

00:27constitutional commissions, and constitutional offices.

00:30It also includes government-owned or controlled corporations that are not included in the GOCC Governance Act of 2011

00:37and Executive Order No. 150, Series of 2021.

00:41Local government units are also included.

00:44But the implementation depends on the income and ability of local governments.

00:49This is good news for government employees like Jane Manimbo and Rochelle Ditioso.

00:54We have students and our daily expenses.

01:00It's good to hear, especially for us who are in low-position jobs.

01:07It's of utmost importance and a big help for us.

01:10The President said that because of the decrease in purchasing power or the ability of Filipinos to buy or spend due to inflation

01:17or the rapid increase in purchasing power and services,

01:20the salary and benefits of government personnel must be updated to remain competent, committed, and active in the workforce.

01:29The President believes that this will result in increasing productivity and high quality of public service.

01:36The updated salary schedule will be implemented in four branches from this year until 2027.

01:42The first branch should be implemented this January.

01:44But it will be retroactive or will be implemented in the second branch, which will be effective in the next year.

01:50The high salary for the President, Vice President, and lawmakers will only be effective for those who are new to the position.

01:58Qualified government employees will also receive P7,000 per annum of medical allowance.

02:04The Department of Budget and Management has already issued guidelines for the implementation of the EO64.

02:11It has already been funded in the 2024 budget and is also included in the 2025 proposed national budget.
